"Today's San Jose Mercury Article on Brazil"

Front page of today's (10/6/2004) B section of San Jose Mercury News says Brazil the Stanford Law Grad, who was busted for not paying taxes, had married a founder of Ask Jeeves. Hitting the mother lode for her, how embarrassing for him!

Stanford law grad, U.S. clash over cache of cash
PROSECUTORS SAY WOMAN AMASSED HER FORTUNE AS HIGH-PRICED CALL GIRL OPERATING ON INTERNET
By Dan Reed
Mercury News

Considered bright by her classmates, Cristina Leeann Schultz studied hard at Stanford Law School to become an attorney. But then she turned away from law to service a different kind of client.

She worked and worked and finally paid off more than $300,000 in student loans, under the stage name of Brazil, a call girl who roamed the country to turn ``high-priced hottie'' tricks, the federal government claims. Her attorney says she simply ran a very successful Internet escort service.

Whatever her enterprise, Schultz is now far from a starving student. She's done very well. So well that federal agents rummaging her trash found $2,400 in $100 bills in a discarded law book.

This all came to light after the federal government searched her then-residence in Oakland in January, seizing about $61,000 in cash. Prosecutors have not filed charges of prostitution, or money laundering or tax evasion, although they allege all three. They do say the money is ill-gotten gains, and they've filed an asset forfeiture complaint to keep it. Schultz is fighting to keep her cash.

Her Internet site is still active. But the last day on her posted schedule of appearances is April 23 -- just a few days before she married David Warthen, an Internet mogul who co-founded the popular search engine Ask Jeeves and is now on the board of Kozoru, a new Internet search engine.

Mystery swirls around Cristina Schultz. Her Web site says she came from Porto Alegre, Brazil. Try less glamorous Chula Vista. It says she's 26; try 31. She is, however, a Gemini, as she says on her site.

Records show she graduated from Stanford Law School in May 2001, UCLA before that, although they do not show her as passing the state bar exam.

Neither she nor her husband or family will talk in detail about Schultz, but her former classmates say she is a smart woman who boasted about appearing on the skin-heavy ``Baywatch'' television show at least once.

``She showed up to class and had good comments,'' said Ty Clevenger, now with a law firm in Washington, D.C. ``It's sad and it's frustrating because I think she's very intelligent. I think she's smarter than that.''

Rumors had always swirled about the pretty, busty Southern California woman in the rarefied air of one of the country's most expensive and best law schools. Among them was that she posed for Playboy magazine.

What is known, according to federal documents, is that since 1999 Schultz lived the high life, leasing luxury cars such as a Mercedes-Benz CL500, worth $75,888, and often having large reserves of cash.

In January of last year, a police report stated, her friend Brenda Tess Broussard was arrested for solicitation for prostitution. Broussard gave up her friend, ``Brazil,'' federal records show. It was Brazil, she said, who taught her the ropes of Internet prostitution.

An undercover IRS agent found Internet postings of 82 men who claimed to have had sex with Schultz for cash.

Schultz said on one Internet posting, the government contends, ``I have paid off 100 percent of my student loans, and I have tried to send a positive message to SF escorts re: assumptions about the nature and social status of women in the business.''

Her rates for being an escort? $1,250 to $1,300 for two hours, $2,200 for four hours, $3,000 for six hours, $5,000 for overnight, and $15,000 for three days.

It's not clear how Schultz met Warthen, a software entrepreneur who has done well for himself. His search engine, which uses conversational English in queries, was launched June 1, 1997. In divorce papers, he lists more than $7 million in liquid assets.

Wed in San Diego before about 80 guests, Cristina and David Warthen now live in his $1.15 million estate in Orinda. Schultz's lawyer says she no longer is an escort, but she still does give live chats on Sunday and Thursday nights on CameraCafe, a Web site owned by Warthen.

Tess Broussard was a soft core porn actress often seen on late night Cinemax (Skinemax). She's from New Orleans. She went by the name Southern Tia as an escort. She's got reviews on RB, too. (Doesn't matter anymore now that she got popped.)

Tia used to do doubles with Brazil (a lot). Tia allegedly retired (well before Brazil) to get married, too. I guess both decided they couldn't really get out of the game.

Tess' *cough* filmography

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0112782/

I'm surprised that Tia was the one. I figured it would've been some lower end chick. Go figure.

Considering the now extremely high profile of this case, I expect criminal charges to be filed by the USAG.

I find it interesting that LE got one girl to rat out the other. It's also interesting that the article uses online discussions of the Brazil's fees to estimate her "ill gotten gains." Note that if convicted she looses all of it, not just the back taxes. Also, consider some crusading LE prosecutor who gets the girl to rat out her customers who are tracked down by their posting on boards such as this one..

Actually, it appears that the discrepancies between what she reported on her tax returns compared to her expenditures is where she fucked up. Here is the first article on this. The last couple paragraphs illustrate this point.

>>>>>>>"My investigation indicates that there is a large discrepancy between the income that Schultz has reported to the IRS and her expenditures and the lifestyle those expenditures have allowed Schultz to become accustomed to," reads a January affidavit filed by IRS Special Agent Anthony Ghio.

"Based on my training and experience, generally people whose adjusted gross income is consistently less than $13,500 a year are not able to put themselves through Stanford Law School, lease a $70,000 Mercedes-Benz for $1,486 a month, live alone in a $1,800-a-month apartment, pay off almost $300,000 in loans, compile savings over $10,000, build a cash hoard of $40,000, throw away $2,400 in cash and buy postal money orders totaling $13,500 all at one time."<<<<<

http://forum.myredbook.com/dcforum2/general/34081.html

She doesn't seem to have to worry these days though, she found her sugar daddy (sap) and I'm sure he will take care of her....Or maybe he will just dump her ass when he gets bored with her then she'll be on Oprah, various other talk shows, speaking engagements, or back to being a Hooker (from Chula Vista and not Porto Alegre, Brazil LOL) I would imagine.

<<She doesn't seem to have to worry these days though>> I seem to remember people saying the same thing about Martha Stewart. I think submitting fraudulent Fed tax returns is a felony. There would be multiple counts if she did this for multiple years. The Supreme Court is reviewing the "minimum sentencing guidelines" as I write, but in general, these guidelines prevent a judge from letting someone off easier because they are "pretty" or well connected. Assuming a multiple count conviction for the amounts of money mentioned I'm sure would get her at least a year or two before probation. And then there would be Calif State tax law/courts going after her...

Still, that being said, I expect that he's going to pay ALOT more for his relationship with her than he ever expected, in terms of his credibility as a businessman.

I don't think it's going to stop with this story Brazil. She has been at this for a long time and used to run with a lot of black athletes, entertainers and rap artists. Her husband is probably one of those white cuckolds who like that shit about his wife. When it all comes out, this guy will not be able to show up anywhere in the tech industry without a lot of jokes about his black cock whore of a wife.

Before she started turning tricks she used to advertise on SFWeekly and the SJ Metro looking for a sugardaddy arrangement. I spoke to her at that time (96-97 timeframe)and she convinced me she was a total flake because she wanted to be 'kept' so she could date black athletes and sit on the sidelines at basketball games in skimpy outfits. I told her to go fuck herself and she was literally taken aback by my reaction. Shit what a lowlife. I hope they unravel her trail of clients for the whole world to see. Hope he had a prenup.

The article says "In divorce papers, he lists more than $7 million in liquid assets." That paragraph starts with "It's not clear how Schultz met Warthen." This implies that he's divorcing her.

The article says "Her Internet site is still active. But the last day on her posted schedule of appearances is April 23 -- just a few days before she married David Warthen". They have been married less than six months.

California is a community property state. This means that all property married couples acquire while domiciled in California is community property. Each spouse owns an equal share of all community property. Separate property is all property owned separately by the husband or wife before marriage. All property declared separate property in a valid pre-nuptial agreement is also separate property.

Warthen sold Ask Jeeves before 2003. Since then, he's been a graduate student at UC Berkeley and an independant consultant.

I wonder how much "community property" the two of them have accumulated since April.

If he has half or his attorney has half a brain he has a pre-nuptial agreement. Brazil is 5 years older than she claimed. Shocking! She always seemed pretentious to me, hardly worth the money for her fake Brazilian ass. Her girlfriend who helped turn her in, the 37 year old Flip whore Tess Broussard who is in a palimony/abuse hassle with Stone Cold Steve Austin starred in a super dumb soft core flick with bi Mitchell Brothers girl Ivanka aka Vicca of Europorn notoriety.

I would think that the husband could get an annulment fairly easily unless it could be proven that he had prior knowledge of her "other life". There might still be some community property issues but if she moved into his home he would be off the hook there and for any other assets he brought into the marriage. Some of the points about brazil border on the absurd. Without going into detail about my own background I am aware of several Drs. who have graduated with 3 to 5 student loans the totals of which topped out at around $160,000(max) and med school is considerably more expensiver than law school.

Mt guess is that before long she will be paying the bills because Ask Jeeves will be run over and destroyed by the Google/Yahoo/MSN train if it hasn't already. Notice how the article said the husband HAD $7m in liquid assets (at the time of his divorce whenever that was) and how he is involved with a new search engine. Today there are lot of x-dot commers who can't afford lunch. Ask Jeeves had its heyday years ago. Nobody uses Jeeves anymore. Its entire concept is outdated; the youth of today on the internet, most have never heard of Ask Jeeves and secondly, most of them don't know that Jeeves is a common name for English Butlers. Talk to today's youth. Many of them, and I mean many of them, never heard of Hitler. Whole different world for them. Just before Brazil got popped, I saw her running an ad for male (Chippendale) type performers to start up a new club. I wonder whose money was behind that? Brazil only had around 60K which is not enough.

That $7 million in liquid assets is a figure from a previous marriage. It doesn't include NON-liquid assets (home in Orinda, etc.) Mr Ask Jeeves is a top end expert in his field and will always have things in his business "hopper".

What a bunch of haters here tonight. You'd all jump at the chance to marry her if you weren't living paycheck to paycheck. You think he'll be heckled for the rest of his life? Guess again. Minus the press, he's living the dream of every tech-nerd and she's living the dream of every hooker (ala Pretty Woman). His heirs will never hurt for money for the next several generations. He's in too lofty a place to care what the commoners think of his life, just like everyone who lives at that level.

Don't kid yourselves and get over it already.

Whose dream is to marry a whore that has had
80+ guys dump there spunk on her? Get real!!!

Guys who knowingly marry whores are either
closet fags who get off watching them fuck
other guys (especially black guys) or they
are suitcase pimps using them to fund their
disfunctions (typically drug habit).

Rich guys marry women who are presentable
to their rich friends and get some young babes
to keep on the side as mistresses. Or they marry
good looking model types before they become whores.
That what the ugly prick Donald Trump did.

BTW, does anybody have any pics of this Brazil
or links to her websites?

Well allow me to retort.

"Guys who knowingly marry whores are either closet fags who get off watching them fuck other guys (especially black guys)"

Sounds like someone has issues with cock size and ethnicity.

"Rich guys marry women who are presentable to their rich friends"

Speaking from the position of someone who does, let's just say, "well", I would enjoy coming home to some eye candy. But I also have friends who have money. Some married trophy wives and some married pretty average looking women with razor sharp intellects. Some married a middle-ground of the 2 dicotomies.

It boils down to ones own preferred management style. Does a guy want something to please his eye and pass on to his children the likelihood of good looking offspring giving them an additional edge that he wasn't afforded and teach them the lessons of life and the cut-throat business skills and life disiplines that made him who he is

- or -

marry a woman with the intellect, drive and philisophies to match his own - a woman to sit by his side and help him rule his empire and raise their future heirs as a most trusted second.

It's one thing to have a pretty face who can teach the kids the golden rule and all the other crap the schools fill their heads with. It's another to have a person who can help impart the intangibles that will increase their kid's chances of successfully taking over the family business and furthering the family's holdings when it's their turn to take the reigns.

I, being single still (one of the last among my circle of friends), have learned from the mistakes of some who took the empty headed hottie. One of the things I worry most about is marrying a woman who would piss it all away and raise our kids to be shallow idiots, ill prepared for their future. A college degree doesn't mean what it used to. Half of my friends who do "well" don't even have a Bachelors. Some do ok, but with MBAs from USC of all places.

"BTW, does anybody have any pics of this Brazil or links to her websites?"

Here: http://forum.myredbook.com/dcforum2/User_files/41665e8208e26849.jpg

It's the best one I have in jpeg format. Or www.touchofbrazil.net (the site has been pulled down now)

She has a Bachelors from UCLA and a JD from Stanford. You packin' any sheep skin besides natural condoms? How do they size up to hers?

Again, she isn't my personal fav on that teir, but she does have the education to match the looks. When she asks Mr Jeeves how his day was, it won't be an empty question. Everyone has some dirt. The Rockafellers have a ton of literal and figurative blood on their hands. So does the Bush family.

A couple of parting thoughts to put her "dirt" in perspective.

Every empire's leader, be it business or an actual country, was built and established on the broken necks of their adversaries. Bill Gates, England's royal family, et al.

Sheep were born to be slaughtered. Those who can rise above to build their own empire deserve their place. It's the law of nature. Survival of the fittest. Luck is when preperation meets opportunity. Never think otherwise.

If you want to be hung up on someone else's "dirt", good luck to you. Hope we never meet each other across a table at a business negotiation. I don't take hostages. I've banged almost 80 civilians and 200+ providers. I imagine you are somewhere in that realm as well. Would you maintain such a hypocritical position at the expense of not marrying a hottie with ivy league brains who could fuck like a banshee?

Since her site is down and you're not familiar with her, her numbers break down roughly like this:

$1,300 / 2 hours
$2,500 / 4 hours
$5,000 / overnight
$15,000 / 3 day weekend

She had a loyal and regular client base all over the country and as I understand it, had to be prepaid (PayPal, Western Union, etc) for appointments.
