"I am screwed - Used Home Credit Card with Date"
 
   Last night I was so hammered that i mistakenly used my family credit card to pay for dinner at Marconi Grill with a GF. Its a brand new AMEX card and the first invoice will arrive around 28 days at home for my SO to see the place and location...well, I am screwed. I should not be out at that location. I can finesse Macroni Grill because there is one nearby in Dublin, but being at the one in Albany is a problem for me.

Any suggestions, beside bend over and kiss my ass goodbye?

   1) Call credit card company and switch mailing address to work address.

2) Goto Amex website and opt for electronic statements only. (though this might take a cycle to become active.

3) Goto post-office and fill out a hold-mail card for the week you expect the bill to arrive. Then pick up mail in person at post-office.

4) If/when confronted about the charge, just shrug and say, "I guess I did eat there... don't remember it's been over a month." If you act guilty, she'll sense you're guilty.

   Hey Lodon,

This is some good advice, I was already thinking of item 1.

I guess I can tell her that I ate at the Mac Grill in Dublin but HQ is in Albany and that is why it has Albany address. (If she notice the address, she knows I have former squeeze there and she will be suspect.

   you can also just start charging a bunch of little things to the AMEX...Unless, your SO is gonna audit the CC statement, the meal shouldn't stand out among a bunch of charges and be noticed.

I would suggest the KISS method. Keep it simple stupid (not calling you stupid). Some good ideas here. But I wouldn't even throw out the "oh hq is in Albany". That means you thought about it. So keep it simple.

I would suggest (unless she knows all your colleagues). That you met one of your collegues that lives/commutes from Vallejo and you guys met in the middle. Its a straight shot from Vallejo to Albany. And while I don't know where you live you mention Dublin. So that would be in the middle for both of you. Albany is about 20 miles from Vallejo and Albany is about 30 miles from Dublin.

"Why is there a charge from the Mac Grill in Albany on your CC".

"Uh Mac Grill..(you want a pause so it don't seem like you have it all pre-thought out)..oh I told you I went out to dinner with a colleague last month".

Let her ask why you went to Albany. Don't offer the reason until/if she asks.

"But why did you go to the Mac Grill in Albany".

"He lives in Vallejo so we met met in the middle".

Most of the time it takes more than one cycle for them to change the address on a bill. Trust me, I got burned by this a long time ago.

Cake -- let us know how this comes out and ultimately what you decided to do.

Besides, if it's the same restaurant, different location, just tell her that's the way they bill their charges -- to the one in Dublin.

Just a question -- what the hell is your S.O. doing opening YOUR bills anyway? Why is it her business to open YOUR AMEX bill?

   Sounds like your SO is already suspicious. Which means deep inside she knows something is going on but doesnt want to believe it. Two possibilities:

1. She is waiting for concrete proof and then can justify walking.

2. She really does not want to believe it.

If it is 2, you are safe. She will never bring it up. After all, a Macaroni Grill bill is hardly a smoking gun.

If it is 1, you better have an answer that can hold up to verification. If you make some stupid statement like "its where they bill" its easy for her to call them and find out right away you lied. Then you are really toast.

Its best to admit being there. She can never prove for sure who it was with.
