Probably old news at this point but there was a blackout yesterday (Tuesday) night that took out the block that Showgirls is on. Both sides of the street between Kearny and Montgomery (on both sides). Apparently the transformer is right there on corner that Centerfolds is on below the sidewalk.
Couldn't help but think of Sir-Mix-a-lot 'My Posse is on Broadway'
Obviously that put a damper on the activity inside of Showgirls. "I need the volume higher" is the straight dope when you are in a SC and there is no music. Nothing. Just folks standing there talking. For those of you worried about the Showgirls preparedness for an emergency..... the emergency lights really do work. And candles on tables are a nice backup to that too.
I'm sure eventually PG&E eventually got that fixed. If that had been a Saturday night there would have been a bunch of folks out on the street with nothing to do.
The CF had decided to roll out a new price policy. They have decided to roll out a new pricing gimmick. All dances are $20.
It is $20 dances all the time. As typical in a SC... if doesn't make sense, read the fine print.
I guess all of the "blue light specials" they run will have to offer dances + something because they are all $20. oh oops forgot about their periodic "free" LDs that last all of 30 secs. I guess those will still be around.
So here is the gimmick. It is really a test of whether you are up on your multiplication rock. Here is a quick refresher for you:
1 Topless LD out on the main floor or on the long bench near main stage in front of the VIP booths ... $20/song.
1 Nude LD in the LD room up on the hall between red room and bath rooms ... $20/song.
He got six. I put mine with his 6 x 2 is 12
2 Nude Lds in the LD room up on the hall is $40
I got six. You six. She got six. Got 18 altogether. 3 x 6 is 18
1 Nude LD in the former topless/$40 booths has a minimum block buy of 3 songs. 3 x $20 = $60
I got six red hens they lay 5 eggs each ..... 6 x 5 is 30
1 Nude LD in the former nude/$60 booths has a required block buy of 5 songs. 5 x $20 = 100
VIP booths with the "bed" ... 10 song minimum block buy $200. But remember there is NO six in the Champange room. Not matter what the dancer tells you.
A least the initial signs were honest in that the song are stated as being 3 mins long. So still standard operational Deja Vu song clipping.
So don't get confused with the "the are all $20" and then let the dancer trott you off to one of the usual booths. It isn't $20.
Oh yeah ... and the LDs are suppose to be more tame now. I guess that was suppose to make some dancers more comfortable with doing nude LDs but takes definitely takes some edge off. There are a bunch of can't touch .... that come with this. It is almost like Vegas (in the city Vegas, not unincorporated ) like rules. Topless but less.
I'm sure they are going to piss off a few dancers. There were more than a few that didn't want to do $20 bikini dancers ( minimally wanted you to start off at $40 dances). Now it is $20 and the tops are off changes up their whole game. The dancers were figuring things out a bit.
Supposedly may roll it out to the other Deja Vu clubs. I'd be surprised if this works out well though.
The $40 topless dances are now $60 nude dances and longer. The $60 (or $80?) nude dances are now just longer.
It isn't crazy like the MBOT when just raised prices for less. Straightup strippernomics. I think they are counting on maxing out the space for topless/single nudes so that folks are hard pitched doing the longer dances. The problem is that is a larger net outflow from the customer's pockets, I guess there will be just longer lines. But six horny men with $40 each is $240... which is better that what is happenings on some nights.

Gotta love a business where it is company policy to run a $20=>$40 bait-and-switch. You'd think we could file some class-action lawsuit against these shady practices... it worked against the credit card companies.

Sounds like they want to generate a bottleneck for the $20 buck dances so that those who hate waiting in line are tempted to buy the more expensive dances.

Right it isn't so much as "bait and switch" as the dancer, mostly will tell you and the signage is quite clear that you have to do block buys of songs/dances in the booths.
More so similar that annoying gimmmicks that SCs do when you pay for entry into the club and then they sprinkled "reserved" signs on every single place you could possibly sit down and watch the show (except maybe the stage-side seats). Then the scam is "oh you actually want to come in and sit down ... well you have to buy X and/or tip " to do that.
Certainly day shift there is pratically zero chance of "too many dances going on" happening. Most weekday night shifts are exactly the same way. Peaker nights like midnight Friday and Saturday probably will get that effect though. My suspicion is that customers will balk rather than wait. Just settle for the stage shows.
If they just changed the sign to say $60 instead of $40 most likely he dancers would cut it off at single song and pocket the difference. [ a bunch were effectively changing $60 anyway. ]

Shit - I got that "No touching" bait-and-switch crap the 2nd - and last - time I went to CF like 2 years ago. Too bad - they've got some hot dancers.

I should have been more precise. It was no touch this location and location. YMMV may vary but mostly parts that would be covered in a bikini dance. Didn't mean to make it sound like had to sit on your hands. [ although wouldn't be surprised if some dancers were in that mode. ]
The dancer line up in much different than two years ago. In fact, on certain night may be more likely run into someone you met at the CH 2 years ago more so than someone you met there 2 years ago. Not a complete overall but looks of new faces and some old.
Whenever they tweak the format there seems to be an associated bump in the road and then goes back to being more mainstream (for a SF nude SC. )
