   NEO SUCKS!

It doesn't work and it looks like Yahoo didn't even bother to beta test it before foisting it upon group users.

A similar thing happened the last time Yahoo changed from clubs to groups. The changeover was a complete mess as it is now. Seriously, someone at Yahoo needs to be fired over this.

   Here's a screen shot of the NEO Yahoo Groups sign in page.

http://forum.myredbook.com/dcforum2/User_files2/09u72372rqyz97x1.jpg

The sign in buttons are on the left hand side under the words "Welcome" and "Yahoo". You can't even see them because they're "grey" on "gray".

Somebody at Yahoo needs to be fired for such incompetence!

pauli, there are many shades of grey. the grey in the sign is a different kind of grey than the gray in the background. if marissa moves over to microsoft, i'm gonna blame you for that. marissa for mayor! marissa don't be a ms ceo . let microsoft slowly dies. it had a good run, it's time for microsoft to go down and make way for yahoo, google, Facebook, Redbook, and of course - the big big apple.

my best wishes to you and your loved ones.

   Mango,

It's common knowledge how many shades of grey there are -- there are Fifty Shades of Grey.

Somebody at Yahoo needs to be fired for the botched implementation of NEO.

It looks for all the world to be a work in progress. If it isn't ready for prime time, don't launch it.

Here's another example of how shoddy their work on NEO is. There is no "new topic" button to click on if you want to start a new topic!

On an iPad, you can't start a new topic because there is no "new topic" button.

On an iPhone, there is no "new topic" button, but you can start a new topic if you know enough to click on an unmarked "plus" sign!

   Pauli,

It's common knowledge that there is only one shade of Grey that matters:

Robken,

Her "body" of work is most impressive and her pictures "moving", but is she an all-time classic like Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body or The Picture of Dorian Gray?

Grey's Anatomy wasn't a classic, imo, but it did have Katherine Heigl.

   Yahoo is so utterly clueless about almost everything, but like Microsoft they dominate because they are a behemoth. Years ago, Yahoo was good, but then they tried to change things, and every change they made was for the worse, IMHO. Their home page, which I used to use all the time for my news fix, gives me a headache now. Google's is much better.

I would still fuck Marissa Mayer though. But I'd rather fuck Sasha Grey!

   I just looked at the feedback that Yahoo is getting for NEO. Everything that I am complaining about and more is also being complained about by other group users. Not only is Yahoo! clueless, they're unresponsive to the many complaints that they have already received about NEO.

http://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/209451-us-groups

Some groups actually have a new topic button on their discussion page, but it doesn't work when you click on it!

How can you put a button on a web page and NOT have it work??? Didn't anybody test it? Apparently, not.

Somebody at Yahoo! needs to be fired for the fiasco that is NEO.

   Yep and they should have left it at that.
The "groups" overhaul was bad enough.
Should have let it be.
But no, they had to make up a new department over at that campus and do this and so that they can justify their $100k a year salaries.
Oh my.

   I see that you can't search the content of messages, only the #'s - there are probably VERY few people who are going to be thinking, "Wow I remember Message #463, but I haven't read it lately" and put in 463 so that they can see it again.

As you say, it's a complete "fail" as everything pretty much always has been with Yahoo clubs/groups, etc. I can't recall any changes they made that made anybody happier.

with that said.
Just realized that their ULTIMATE goal is to discourage use of that thing.
Seriously, I think they've figured out the sex mongers are the ones predominantly on those sites.
Once they've rid of "us", maybe they'll revert it back to something user friendly again.
Just a guess here and Im thinking Im right.

   You might be right, except other more legit groups are complaining about the exact same things.

Yahoo has unveiled another new corporate logo today. Whoopie!

http://forum.myredbook.com/dcforum2/User_files2/k2t3f2r7o5d9zzf0.jpg

There's finally some contrast between the sign in buttons and the color of the background field, but there is still no new topic button anywhere on the message board.

Also, the text box or message box only accepts about a dozen lines of text before you get cutoff completely. This means you can't post a long trip report in a single post.

Other problems of note, you can't backspace to correct a typo or rewrite a phrase without first erasing the entire line of text and starting all over again.

You also can't put a line break (space) between paragraphs. If consecutive paragraphs are short enough, all the separate paragraphs are changed to a single line of text.

How moronic is that???

Somebody at Yahoo really needs to be fired over the abomination that is NEO!

In the feedback section, a Yahoo administrator actually blamed the user for their own shortcoming. The administrator said that they deliberately tried to limit navigation on the page and the user tried to exceed that limitation. How clueless is that?

Seriously, somebody at Yahoo needs to be fired for gross incompetence.

   Here's an example of how clueless they are about how groups are used.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stop loading the oldest messages in conversations
My group is about 10 years old. Coincidentally, we use the same subject for messages that have no relation to each other (sometimes posting years apart). It used to be that it was very easy to tell which messages were not connected, but now when I click on a current conversations, those old messages load first, most of the other messages are skipped and then the most recent messages is loaded at the bottom. This is extremely frustrating. It feels as if you don't understand how account holders are using their groups.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Why would anybody want to read the oldest messages first? Especially in an older established group that has been around for ten or more years with thousands of messages?

Isn't it obvious that people would want to read the newest messages first? Who even thought that anyone would want to read the oldest messages first?

Can you imagine how frustrating it would be if every time you login to SFRB, SFRB loaded page one from the archived pages and you had to click through 400+ pages of archived posts just to get to the most current posts or topics?

   I used to follow football games and scores on Yahoo, but not any more. The new Yahoo sports site is terrible compared to the old version. Early on as the games are in progress, the play by play lacks down and distance or spots. Pffft!

The ESPN phone app is waaaay better.

   Totally agree about Yahoo. In an attempt to modernize their site and look current and hip they have totally destroyed the only thing that was good about the site. It used to be very easy and simple to use with lots of basic information easy to find and read. Now it is difficult to find or do anything.
