"How Rush Limbaugh got his comeuppance"

How Rush got his dues back. Please enjoy.

BY JON FRIEDMAN

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- At last, Rush Limbaugh got his comeuppance. And he did it all by himself.

As a matter of fact, my favorite Election Day moment occurred at the very end of the process, when newly elected Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill slyly thanked Limbaugh for his role in her victory.
Yes, revenge was sweet for the Democrats. And why not? Limbaugh had delighted in kicking sand in their faces for years, luxuriating in the GOP's dominance in national politics.

In contrast to Limbaugh's trademark, piercing proclamations, McCaskill made her remark while flashing a big, triumphant smile. But she clearly relished in twisting the knife.

Fair enough. Limbaugh went too far when he blasted actor Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, on the eve of the midterm elections.

One view is that all's fair in politics, and Fox had put himself in the public arena by becoming a spokesman for the pro-stem cell research faction. But everyone deserves to be treated with respect and compassion. Whether Limbaugh was guilty of bad manners or bad politics, it didn't matter. And even when he explained his remarks afterward, his comments had a hollow ring.

In hindsight, it would have been wise for Limbaugh to leave Fox alone, especially after Fox shook violently during television commercials. But Limbaugh couldn't do that.

Instead, trying to make Fox look as bad as possible, Limbaugh said he suspected that Fox hadn't taken his medication. He reckoned that Fox had exploited his illness as a slick way to boost the public's appeal for federally funded embryonic stem cell research. The stem-cell issue had become a pivotal part of McCaskill's campaign in Missouri (and the initiative ultimately passed).

Here is the irony. If Republican Jim Talent had defeated McCaskill, the Republicans would have held on to control of the U.S. Senate. Not only did Limbaugh hurt Talent, he ended up screwing the whole Republican Party.

Supporters of Limbaugh believe that the midterm elections are merely a bump in the road. Limbaugh is still in business, of course, and there is no reason to believe that his voice will be muted any time soon. He remains the biggest star by far in talk radio.

Like a manufacturer who knows how to appeal to a mass audience, Limbaugh has built a huge and remarkably durable audience. His marketing campaign has centered on baiting, criticizing and ridiculing anyone who dared to disagree with the Republican Party's agenda.

It's even possible (likely?) that his statements on the air may grow more shrill, now that his favorite political party is out of favor in Washington.

Instead, I'd hope that Limbaugh and other strident talk-show hosts have learned a lesson from the outcome of Nov. 7. Maybe they'd have more success if they turned down the hype-meter and stopped acting like bullies.

For one, Dip head cares ... as a matter a fact ... the “blow-hard” does all his thinking for him. Reminds me of a great line from the new Dixie Chicks movie trailer ... some Terra Cotta tooth, Red-neck (probably related to Dip) proudly proclaiming for the camera "Free speech is great, as long as you don't do it in public". There are the “blow-hard’s” demographics.

As always off topic making accussations that have no merit. It is quite funny watching the desperate actions you take to keep your worldview alive.

Rush is twice as popular when the dems are in power. He's at his shameless best when he's the underdog and he has plenty of dem fuel to stoke the flames of conservative fear and ignorance.

The fat windbag was given enough rope and hung himself. It must have been a strong one given his mass.

I've called KFBK several times and ask that they cut his show. Once in a blue moon he makes a good point but all the other times, he just loves the sound of his own voice.

And, to slam M.F. for pleading for research, which is his right to do so, makes Limbaugh limp.

The problem with Rush is that he spends more time attacking the messenger than the message. When the messenger is a sympathetic figure like Fox, Rush ends up devouring himself. This is precisely the strategy employed by the Rove administration since the beginning of the Iraq war. Rush was just falling in line. Unfortunately for Rove and Rush, that strategy, in my opinion, so disgusted the American people (including a lot of Pubs and Inds) that we finally "threw the bums out".

Check out the video of Katie's interview with Michael Fox which showed a video clip of Limbaugh ripping Fox. After seeing the body language with the hateful words, anyone who can remain a loyal Rush fan should get into therapy.

Rush doesn't do comeuppance...he's numero uno in his field of endeavor and a shill for Dubya and the Reps.

He laughs all the way to the West Bank.

But he still doesn't get it that Dubya is neither donkey nor elephant; he's a GLOBALIST. The is, his primary interests and allegiances are for the multi-national Corps, and in aligning to that agenda he's taking us down the tubes to a EU-type Socialism...fast.

We need to hack together an animal symbol for the Globalists.Lets see, donkey, elephant...RINO?

IF bush is a globalist, that's a 180 degree reversal from who he was in 2000.
