SEIU 1021 leader clearly has gone lunatic. Probably criminal. Time for some adult supervision. Behind bars? These ain't your Norma Rae unions.

Behind bars for speaking during the public comment portion of a public meeting? I don't think so.

That said, this doesn't seem like a great way to keep negotiations on track. If the union wants to do something dramatic--like resuming their strike--they should just do that when the time comes.

So BATS how do you achieve "bloodiest" ? Sounds like an exhortation to violence to me. Is that legal?

Well, ANALARMAGEDDON, since the quote was that the union would be "prepared for the bloodiest, longest strike since the 1970s," I think you should probably ask yourself how much blood was shed in the 1970s. And once you've found an answer to that question, maybe you'll understand the difference between inciting violence and exhibiting puffery at a public meeting.

Any further questions from the peanut gallery?

In America it is.

Doing it is something else.

Not much into understanding the color of speech are you...even if you use it often yourself.

It's hard to be sympathetic with the unions since the employees are so overpaid.

They can skip a day of work and get paid overtime for working another day. This is for less than 40 hours per week.

They basically get free healthcare and a very generous pension.

They keep mentioning safety issues, when management needs to step up and address the safety issues.

Management should needs to be more competent. Management is also overpaid.

Give us riders a break!

I don't recall every meeting a competent BART employee. They're usually unhelpful or rude.

Union - stop being so greedy.
Management - step it up and get it done!
Directors - do your job.

Well of course you are wrong. It is against the law to "make terroristic threats" defined below

490.20 Making a terroristic threat.
1. A person is guilty of making a terroristic threat when with intent to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence the policy of a unit of government by intimidation or coercion.

So let's put this all in perspective. Wednesday SEIU 1021 sends a mob to the home of the BART GM. Thursday they threaten the "bloodiest" strike.

The BART Unions are Criminal Enterprises

I say put these union people in a cage and the last person standing gets a 30% raise.

Hopefully, he dies from his wounds so we won't have a future budget issue

I bet this anal guy works for bart in some capacity. No one else would have the time or desire to spend their days vilifying bart employees.

Why do wingnuts always blame working union stiffs, instead of management for the negotiations.

You have no detailed, relevant knowledge or inside information of how the contract negotiations have played out. You have simply been trained like a chimpanzee by the rightwing media to hate working stiffs who belong to a union.

On this board you will find me advocating a higher minimum wage and labeling GW Bush the worst president of my lifetime. As compared with the mindless thoughtless class warfare SEIU programs u all to engage in.

I also believe in math. For tasks performed BART employees are way overcompensated. A lateral move in tasks performed for an ATU train operator (door opener/closer) is operating a French fry machine.

I totally understand the outrage over Bart workers paying $92 a month for health insurance. What I never hear mentioned is how much management pays for their health coverage and pension, because that is part of the equation too. Perhaps they are all doing better than the average Joe, and management has had the better PR demonizing the workers. I don't have an answer, just throwing it out there.

I totally disagree with OT pay if you have not worked 40 hours. Over 8 and over 40 should be the rule.
