"Why don't you do something about member XXX?"

LAST EDITED ON 30-Jul-08 AT 12:16 PM (PST)

Where XXX can be a client who allegedly: is or works with LE, trades marketing services for discounts/freebies, threatens ladies with bad reviews, makes crude and explicit comments, assaults women, is a horrible person, etc.

Or XXX can be a provider who allegedly: takes money from clients and runs, has a nasty pimp, searches pockets and steals, is a 'well known' ROB, is a liar, fake, etc.

The underlying question to such a request is really, can RB get person XXX to stop behavior YYY?

The answer is no. We have no power to change anyone's behavior, nor is it in our charter. While we would welcome this worldly power, we have yet to have it bestowed upon us.

Step up, embrace responsibility and contact person XXX directly where you may unleash your persuasion skills on the source of your complaint. Do not sit, rant, rave, whine, or spam the board. Redirect your energy and take direct action. Empower yourself.

Q1: Come on, there is so much compelling evidence (I'm not a judge, but I do play one on RB), why don't you get rid of XXX?
A1: You are not a judge and that only makes things worse. For example, if we delete all handles on a 'bad client list', it would only render the list useless. The behavior would continue under a new handle and we would all waste time figuring out who is who again.

It is impossible to 'get rid' of someone. We can certainly delete a handle, but that does not stop someone from re-registering a new handle.

Q2: Can RB at least send them a friendly reprimand?
A2: No, that assumes we agree with your opinion. We have no way of knowing how truthful your side of the story is, and we are not about to conduct an investigation into the drama of what happened between two parties during their own time. You are responsible for your own actions, as is the other party theirs.

If we were to send anything on your behalf, they will only deny the allegations, claim you are falsly accusing them, and add testimony about what a bad a person you are. This won't accomplish anything.

If you have been the victim of a crime, please contact the police. They are paid, trained, and have the resources to help you in such matters. That is what they do for a living.

Q3: What can RB do?
A3: We provide a communication medium. You may post your side of the story, keeping a reign on the dramatic embellishments to increase your credibility. Do not flame, as it is grounds for post deletion. Complaints against ladies go on myRedBook http://forum.myredbook.com/board and complaints against clients go on myPinkBook http://www.mypinkbook.com/board Don't post on someone else's behalf, that's hearsay, and things get lost in the translation. If the story is worth posting, encourage the person to step forward. The reader can decide for themselves the credibility of the poster.

Q4: Are there exceptions to this policy?
A4: Yes, crimes against the site because there we have all the evidence we need. If a person repeatedly violates posting guidelines, their handle may be deleted or blocked from posting to selected forums. If someone is repeatedly spamming your inbox with ads or threats, send a copy to redbook

Q5: side note: A guy told me that he had inside connections and was seeking favors, was that you folks?
A5: No. If you are contacted by someone who claims to be one of the RB owners, an administrator, or a close friend of Red or Book, and they say they can do special favors for you in exchange for something, or threaten you in any way. Please laugh out loud and point them to this post. Tell them to use their "influence" to put your name in the slot below.
