Do you really want that on your credit card? (Or are you referring to an AMP or TAMP?) AAMPs are a cash under the table business. If you could give them your credit card, then they would know who you are, and anyone else who gets ahold of their records would also know who you are.

I would say a tamp might be ok since they are legit and many of them will take a credit card.

Two reasons not to use credit cards in the hobby:

1. Paper and electronic trail can lead back to you. Can be deterimental if you are married or in a close relationship.

2. You are over-extended financially. As such, you should not be hobbying anyways. Prioritize and budget. Rent/mortgage, food, then entertainment.

Like most have already said. And may I add the complications if you decide to dispute the charge if they decide to increase the tip. Unecessay paper trails, even so. One of many good habits to avoid.

AMP's or TAMP's take credit cards but they charge an extra 20-30 for using credit cards on top everything else.

well I was going to write it off as a business expense. I wanted to take my customer to see a girl. I guess I have to pay in cash and try to explain it to the CFO. I have used CC in asia at hosting bars. it pays for all the same stuff.

seriously?

how is this a good idea at all?

Credit always leave a paper trail. Why bother? Unless you're so desperate that you've got to hobby on credit? And if that's the case, you probably shouldn't be hobbying at all.

Bad bad idea IMO.

*Edit -
Ok, just read the whole thread and still don't like the idea Mark H. Not sure how one would be able to spin an AAMP session as a legit refundable corporate expense...that's just begging for trouble. If you really want to treat your customer, why not just pay for it out of your wallet. Maybe he'll return the favor later, but charging a session on your corporate card? That's just loony.

the guy's point is to be able to expense an AMP or AAMP visit using a credit card. I have expense the door fee at TAMPS all the time...a health expense. I've also put escorts on my corporate card -- I just make sure to ask them what the receipt will say...usually something innocuous like "AAA services".

Some AMPS do accept credit cards (e.g., Good Day Spa in Berkeley, or Water Spa in San Rafael) but they generally are staffed with uglier women and charge an extra fee for using the card (in complete violation of their agreement with credit card companies).

I gotta agree with John Clayton and most of the responses on this thread must be from dudes who are sneaking it from their SO's. I used to use my credit card all the time with amps and even with escorts when I was on the road. You're getting a massage and I never had a problem deducting it as an expense but I'm self-employed. I see little or no difference conceptually between that and a game of golf or a health club fee while on business travel. Where's our golfing friend from Scotland?
