"google voice for aamping?"
 
   is it ok to use gvoice to call PO? i don't like to keep a separate prepaid hobby phone and think it can be an alternative.

   i don't know if it's gonna show names, numbers , etc. and PO will not pick up. or if the number is ok for them to call back..guess i'll try that next week then.

Yes Google Voice is a great alternative as a Ho-Phone, but it is currenlty only available as a Mobile App for Blackberry, iPhone, and Android phones.

I will be using it. Thanks for the post!

PS - when dialing using Google Voice Mobile App on your cell phone, your Google Voice phone number will show up as the Caller ID.

What happens if the po is trying to call you back? Don't they get sort of freaked out when they get that google voice prompt?

Ok, I just tried to get google voice for my iPhone. It's invitation only? WTF? Now I'm in some waiting list to get the invite. Am I looking for the right thing? Google voice right?

If you currently do not have a gmail account, then yeah, you need to be invited by another Google member. Since most of us work and live in Silicon Valley, you kinda assume that you would have been invited a long time ago.

BTW, Google Voice is currently free. Not sure it'll be free by the time you get in via the waiting list.

   Hobby phone makes lot of sense. Why keep another trail of your activties on the net? Sometimes free is costly man.
