"complaint against casinos"

I've been hearing this complaint about casinos lately, especially the Indian casinos.

Since the recession on slot machines, not table games, that the slots don't seem to be paying off like they used to?

Any comment

if you think the slots were paying out before your out of your mind...out of all the casino games slots have the worse chance of winning and most lopsided odds...just by playin the slot machines you in turn are playing yourself (out of your money) but thats just how i view it...and ive seen a few very very very close people lose all they had trying to "win big" on a slot machine...(not all they had that day but all they had in life =^( )

nope those the odds are the same today as they were 10 years ago some worse than others it doesnt matter which payout as long as some of them do so that means you could be at a machine that is never meant to pay big when the one next to it might be the one that does its all random go play blackjack lol

Yeah, dont play them
slots percentages are not set in stone
they stop bringing in money, they will raise the payouts

Watcher, I think you have a valid point, & heres my take:

The machines still pay the same (lousy), but what the bastards
have done is make them operate faster & accept more coins per
pull so that you lose $$ much faster than you used to (or, on
rare occasions, win faster).

U guys have no clue do you? In a regulated environment(Nevada, Jersey, etc.) the state requires a MINIMUM return percentage...Nevada requires all machines to return at least 79% which means the casino retains up to 21% which is known as the "hold". To stimulate play and increase business, the casinos will advertise(especially on dollar machines) a 97% payback(or return). This means these specially designated machines only hold 3%. So, you the customer should play on what machines? Now in California Tribal Gaming, there is NO minimum return requirement. Each tribe can and does set whatever return percentage they want. So, the economy is bad, revenue is down and the hold is adjusted so that the return is the same as before but with a decreased revenue amount. Hey, the tribe is in business, just not the business you folks thought. Poker/blackjack? Hee-hee, want to know the story behind those casinos games? My gaming consultant fee is $500 a day plus travel plus room/board(if needed). Inquiring minds want to know?

My gaming consultant fee is $500 a day plus travel plus room/board(if needed). I can buy a book for $19.95 that will tell me all of that. Even Poker has a 20% rake on the first $10, then a little less after that. Only fools play slots, they even fool people into playing penny machines that take up to $4 per pull. BJ

Casinos take a cut on everything.
The odds are ALWAYS against you.
Some games more, some others.

You can count cards, but if caught get banned from ebery casino that uses the same (pinkerton) list.

Poker you can make money based on skill, for the rest. You ALWAYS will loose statistically.
Of course some people will win sometimes, that's all within the statisitical flukes.

Any penny, nickel, dime or 100 dollar bill you put out on a casino table or put in a slot should be assumed GONE.

As a Texas Hold-em player I agree that once you factor in the drop, which varies from casino to casino, poker is the only game where you can read and react to the changes in statistical percentages, as well as add a skill and ability to, bluff, according to your ability to do mental math and accurately read other players tells and habits.

The drop is the one factor you can not avoid and it will eat into your winnings or add to your losses at a given rate over time. Time is the enemy of the poker player as the house rake is a constant draw on your stake. If you apply ROI (Return on Investment)on you initial stake and get out ahead with a 20%-50% return on initial capital, you have done well GO HOME!! Most players let their winnings diminish by extended play, greed, relaxing of drawing standards when out of position and prolonged effects of the drop.

In terms of casino game percentages, the don't come bet and full odds on the back-line, playing continuously,at the craps table offers the player the most favorable odds( least house advantage under 4%). On a cold table you can do very well "betting the don't" but you will not win any popularity contests at the table.

If you play at Black Oak, I have probably played against you. I believe that in Texas Holdem, it is 15% skill and 85% luck. I have my streaks then I have a dry spell, but overall, I am ahead, and consider it entertainment, so I don't expect to make a living at it. You seem to have good knowledge on the game, but if you want some more books and DVD's, I have about 50 of them for sale. BJ

DROP = amount of cash generated/markers issued at table. Cash and paperwork DROPPED into storage box. HOUSE PERCENTAGE(or PC or house edge = what the casino expects to earn mathematically for each bet(pass line/come line with max odds bet=1.41%. Don't pass/don't come with laying max odds=1.40%). Pinkerton is a security firm...Griffith Detective Agency of Las Vegas provides casinos with info on card counters, slot cheats and casino employees fired for stealing/cheating. Hochaser is such a gaming whore, trying to hustle you small fry for "consultant" fees when he just finished a mega-bucks consultant gig in PA. Dude, you ain't the only gaming pro on this forum.
