"Retirement observation"

One thing I noticed is that when a provider announces her upcoming retirement, she unretires in a couple of months. But when a provider just disappear without any annoucement, she tends to stay retire. Now is the first group just do it to drum up business? I guess it's like those furniture store that has a "going out of business" sale" for the last 10 years.

I think its more the difference with getting fed up or having a great opportunity versus laying out a plan for doing something in the future.
The gals that just quit have all their ducks lined up. The planners often just have mostly wishful thinking (BTW some do say 2months and are gone).

I personally think is a fu..up thing to gloat over a gals unretirement much like laughing at a retired neighbor having to go work at walmart.

Things change stuff happens the biz can pay very well and finance's are a precarious thing. When a gal unretires I usually feel two things one its nice shes available and a bit sad that her other plans didnt workout.

Yes the gals that say I will retire in two months often really need that 2 months of extra busy funds but a few also do it so they can see clients they liked before they leave.

Also, I think it can be a negative to announce retirement because anyone new who looks for a longer term connection isnt going to see her.

Well said Abby. Most who I've known to unretire have done it reluctantly and out of necessity. Smug observations aside, its a tough economy for most and this line certainly helps pay the bills in a pinch.

Wrong--it is HER fault for ANNOUNCING her retirement. That's why people laugh at her. If she had just disappeared, then returned, it would be different.

Face it, both sides have a hard time getting out. It's an addictive hobby, and addictive lifestyle, an addictive web site.

I totally agree with Abby. I don't think it's funny when a retired gal suddenly unretires because something-who knows-what- went wrong. I announced many moons ago once that I was going to retire, but unfortunately for the wrong reasons. I met a guy (what else is new?) and he didn't like what I was doing (even though I met him doing this...go figure). Anyhow, I never actually left before "ass hat" did. This is not something I would ever announce again.. When it comes to the retirement, I will leave the area completely.

I think many times it is related to relationship issues, which can certainly change. I know my availability has fluctuated based on those issues. I do not see it as good or bad, but changeable, like life.

The guy sounds a bit controlling. I've known people who moved be because of their because of their boyfriends. 9 times out of 10, it never works out.

Moved as in "moved on" from the work or moved as in "relocated" to be with their paramours?

LOL. There are a lot of losers and other pathetic souls on Redbook, but one of the most pathetic posts categorically is the retirement post from the hobbyist. It's really really sad that some men would take hobbying so seriously, with Redbook and its members, that they would need to announce they are leaving. Imagine that- Redbook such a big part of someone's life and their community, to the point they have to make an announcement that they are leaving like they were moving to a new town or changing jobs. This implies they don't have much of a real life or real friends or real community. Pathetic. Real men with real lives just leave, without any drama here.

A good example of the kind of pathetic retirement announcement:

Seems a bit of a random selection here CL. Those who do retirement posts have no life.

Mine is... those who have over 4500 posts have no life. Do you know what that means? Yes, 11 posts ago, you became classified as someone with no life. Could you feel the shift?

You're averaging a little over 1 post/day yourself. Wait until you've been around Redbook as long as myself, and you'll have more posts than me at my mark in years-to-date on Redbook! LOL.

Very insightful comment, Mr. 1.75-posts-per-day-for-7-years.

Thanks for your contribution.

Are a worthwhile attempt to save us from ourselves. Without CL and a few others we would just be a bunch of pussy whipped gullible PLs. And the boards would be controlled by a cadre of manipulative money hungry castrating women.

Taking things seriously - the only people here who can say they arent! dont care about whats posted here AND dont spend much money here. A session generally is quite an outlay for most so the decisions taken should be seriously considered.

But Abby, don't hate!

Catlover has said he's the Martin Luther King of the FBSM board! You forget his MLK-like contribution to the board, in which GREAT CHANGE has come about, yes? Or wait...would that be Oralio who spouted that?

I forget. Drat! I get those two confused so often...would Catlover be the Rosa Parks to Oralio's Martin Luther King....or is it Catlover's Malcom X to Oralio's Ghandi?

Huh. I get those two FBSM activists confused so often, it's hard to keep track.

Big love,
DreuCMT

Exactly.

I have a dream that we will one day post in a forum where men will not be judged by the enthusiasm of their lapdogging, but by the courage of of their commentary.
