Alright, I searched both the forums and ads looking for someone who specializes in FBSM Ashiatsu style, without muck luck, so I look to those with a greater knowledge base for assistance.

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy™ (AOBT) is Asian barefoot massage. "Ashi" means "foot," and "atsu" means "pressure."

Hey Grip- I still do not use the bars. That style is a later adaptation of ashiatsu. I still practice the original barefoot shiatsu brought to the states from Japan by Shizuko Yamamoto. She taught here for 25 years and now has returned to Japan. It is done one a padded mat on the floor. It was called ashiatsu, but the folks who use the bars and the massage tables asked my teacher if they could use the term and of course the answer was yes, because these ancient healing traditions such as barefoot shiatsu and Thai massage were historically non-proprietary. So then we went back to just calling ot barefoot shiatsu to avoid confusion.

I am sure we would have a fun time, but if you are the one who was trying to get me from Santa Cruz to the East bay on Sunday mornings that is going to be a rare event! Btw if that is you, I am going to a weekend workshop in SF in Nov. on the link between S/M and Tantra - should be interesting.

   yes, that was me, but, if I recall correctly, you did say you were looking for a place in the EB that would be much closer for me (considering my limited time availability). Boy, I'd have hoped you would be at least a wee bit happy that I kept trying to see if it was possible to see you!

   There are only about 500 massage places in the Bay area where this is avialable. Go to Craigslist, therapeutic, and search back walking.
