Used to be a card carrying AANR member. Life circumstances now dictate otherwise.I spent lots of time at Pirate's Cove down near Pismo Beach. It's a beautiful beach if you can catch it on a nice day when the tide is out. It can get very crowded with all types of people. Beautiful young college girls are not uncommon on the right day. It can be difficult to maintain control sometimes, but you get used to it after a while. One must be careful to not be conspicuous. Gawkers are not viewed favorably. There's a police force of sorts... If you're staring at people, you're likely to get a fat naked guy in your face telling you to GTFO.
I used to go to a nudist camp with my girlfriend when I lived in Texas. It's called "Live Oak Resort."

It's the real deal. There's people that actually live on site. Upon arriving for the first time, I saw some leathery guy mowing the lawn in front of his trailer while nude. Didn't look too fun. It purports to be a "resort," but it's rough around the edges. Not a young/hot crowd at all, which is fine. But while interacting with fellow nudists there, I found most to be.... well... not particularly bright or interesting.
Also, outside of Austin, TX along Lake Travis is Hippy Hollow. It's a rocky beach run by the county parks service. On a nice day you'll find lots of people enjoying the lake in the nude. There's a section at teh far end that's "the gay section." And every so often, the park service will patrol and arrest someone for lewd acts in the trees above the lake. It's a nice scene most of the time, but it can get a little weird, which is not cool.
I visited Harbin Spring with my SO once. That's a really pretty place. It's populated by a pretty hardcore hippy-type crowd. The pool was cloudy due to excessive sunblock in the water. (I hope it was sunblock.) They pride themselves on not using chlorine in the pool, but it needed some sort of filtration/cleansing that was better than what they were using, that's for sure. Saw some beautiful women there. Some were not speaking English. I got a massage while I was there. (Legit) I had an interesting conversation with the masseuse about what she described as a culture of "polyamory" amongst Harbin's regulars. She seemed accepting of it, but at the same time grossed out because, according to her, condoms aren't terribly popular and venereal disease is not uncommon. I have no idea as to the veracity of her claims; it was merely the candid opinions of one person who worked on site for about 10 years.
Anyway... If I were single again, I'd probably partake in the nudist scene again. It's fun and relaxing. And I would agree with what others have said about the underlying sensuality of being naked and seeing others naked, even if they're not your type. It appeals to a sort of natural tendency we have as creatures to be sexual beings, if that makes any sense.
Have fun and report back with your adventures. I look forward to reading about them.
