I happen to know that in Hamburg, Germany, the prostitution stroll is right in front of the Central Police Station.

Yes, and the Germans love it that way. The girls feel safe. It keeps the pimps away. And street walkers have no reason to venture into residential neighborhoods.

Hamburg resembles SF in many ways. Port city with a wild and wooly reputation. The difference is the low level of violence.
