"Trailer Trash Party at the Citadel"

date: Saturday, July 03, 2010
time: 08:00 PM to 01:00 AM
where: The Citadel
address: Mission Street map
cost: $25 at the door. Must be a member of the Citadel or a guest of a member.
dress code: As trashy as you wanna be, or unrecycleable. (This means you can wear that stuff that Goodwill wouldn't take.) We'll probably let you in no matter what you wear, but it's more fun to follow the theme.

Description

Get out the bowling shirts, wife beaters, and the daisy dukes and come on down to the Citadel for the first annual trailer trash party.

Ever wanted to wear your flip flops into the dungeon and not be stared at? This is the day to do it. Come dressed for comfort--or the way you see those trailer trashy people in movies doing. We're going to give a prize to the best trailer trash outfits!

And then there is the food. Who wouldn't be tempted by bologna on white bread? 'Nanner puddin'? Jello with fruit cocktail? Well, you get the idea. This is going to be a one of a kind party.

And just to keep the evening rolling right along, we're going to start the evening, with a singles auction. The auction will be in the main room from 8:30 until the last willing person is auctioned off. You might buy the person of your dreams, so come on out and lets Git 'r done. (Funds raised by the auction will go to Food for Thought, an Aids Food Bank.)

RSVPs are not required.

Admission: $25 per person

For work exchange (a volunteer shifts earns you free entry!), contact volunteers@sfcitadel.org

Doors are open for new entries from 8PM-Midnight, stay and play until 1AM.

Lockers are available to store your stuff and use of the lockers is free- bring your own lock or buy one from us!

Membership required! One year membership available at the door for only $10.

   Fuck the limo.
Someone should roll up in an RV and park it in front.

Oh, it was great. We're going to do it again next year, but Phil wants to move it off the holiday weekend so there can be some greater participation. Several people had family events going this weekend and asked if we'd do it again.

The slave auction plus freewill donations raised nearly $300 for the Aids Foodbank where I volunteer. (The Citadel is very supportive of community events, and have always been really great about accommodating things I want to do.)

And I tell you that there were some truly scary looking folks dressed up for this party. The female winner of the costume contest was a busty girl, dressed in a way too small and tight pink dress, with a baby sling and a baby (doll) in it with a Malibu bottle. And pony tails. Cowboy boots abounded. Personally, I wore army boots, a flowered muumuu and pearls. But nearly everyone fell into the theme. Hawaiian shirts, bowling shirts, too small, too tight and too low cut dresses. It was a hoot. A lot of people confided in me that they went to Kmart and/or thrift stores to find "just the right outfit." Others, even scarier, mentioned that they found what they were wearing in the back of their closets.

The 'nanner puddin' was a huge hit. And the "bologna under glass" got some chuckles.

I'm looking forward to next year.

And stay tuned for the Iron Dom Contest, August 21.

Should i be proud when i proclaim that I could have been a real contender for the dress up aspect of the evening.....without really dressing any different than ordinary
