"'How To' websites for bondage?"
 
Are there any good "how to" sites for roping techniques, or positions for bondage beginners? I recently had to replace a mailbox and put in some new plumbing, and was able to do a google search and come up with lots of helpful info and step by step vids.

When I do the same for bondage, I get lots of porn. Go figure. Any helpful leads would be much appreciated.

There are also several excellent books on this, such as the Two Knotty Boys, On the Ropes, and Back On the Ropes; Lee Harrington, Shibari You Can Use; Chanta Rose, Bondage for Sex; and of course, Midori's lovely book.

My particular favorites are the first Two Knotty Boys book, and the Lee Harrington book.

Thanks, Lilith! That is precisely what I was looking for. Both sites are really cool. I'm looking forward to incorporating what I learn into scene play. I'll be sure and let you know how it goes.

That knot app looks good to, Tristan. Thanks for that as well. There is a link on that app site that has a list of animations for lots and lots of knots. It's right under the "welcome" heading, with a link for "Knot List". Hours and hours of fun and practical research.

   There is actually an iPhone app on knots, and while it does not approach the subject from a BDSM perspective (more like sailing, Boy Scouts and such), it might come in handy as a pervertible.

Camille, the Two Knotty Boys keep getting shut down on YouTube. It's better to look on their own website. Half the time you'll find their YouTube videos offline.

Azure, you could learn a huge amount about bondage by booking a session with Tatiana and having her teach you. She's fantastic. One of my favorite sessions when I was at FM was a guy who booked with me and Olivia so that I could teach him some basic bondage. And Tatiana knows probably 50 times what I do about bondage. I love it, but I don't study it the way some do.

Another idea is to keep an eye on the SOJ calendar (www.soj.org) and look for classes by Jay Wiseman, Tatiana, Midori, Mike West, The Two Knotty Boys, and Madame Butterfly. Madame Butterfly is a tiny lady of Japanese descent who can put a guy 6'6" into suspension bondage and make it look effortless. I watched her do some suspensions in the dungeon at Thunder in the Mountains, and it was just awe-inspiring. She is a fantastic rigger.

And seriously, get some of the books. They are just great and it's so easy to do with the still photos in front of you.

Hmmmm. So porn is banned for public videos on YouTube, but OK for unlisted videos? That's a whole new opportunity for video sharing.

   Actually from what you said I thought they still had the videos on YouTube, but unlisted and thus not public. However, looking at their site I see they're just downloads.

I still think the YouTube unlisted option would be good for someone who, for example, only had a blog and didn't have enough storage space to host video downloads. I'll bet the unlisted videos would be under the radar of the YouTube censors and not get deleted.
