I assume many of those involved in BDSM are involved in role play to some extent.

But how much do people plan and in what ways? Who usually does the planning? How much should be planned in advance versus allowed to happen spontaneously and unexpectedly? What does planning mean to you (e.g., is a plan for you just an idea or a whole script)?

Hoping these questions may interest some others on this forum, I provide some choices in this poll.

But because a poll allows only very limited choices, you are encouraged to add a more detailed comment.

Specific examples of has what has worked well for you (or failed miserably) are especially welcome.

i have a very specific role-play that i like the mistress that i'm playing with to follow......

so i will send her the scenario in a e-mail in the hopes she will find it enjoyably ........... i also give her plenty of room to improvise.......

Sometimes when someone calls with a particular fantasy or fetish and I need inspiration I will look at related videos online, read some erotic writings and look at pictures.

This helps to inspire thought and evoke creativity.
