I learned how to spank by trial and error, but I wish I had researched it first.

Key thing is this -- start slow and light and warm her cheeks up to it. This will allow you to go harder later on than you otherwise could.

If you know she's a pain slut you can start out heavy, but even pain sluts often need warmups.

Look for angles and glancing blows, rather than a straight perpendicular angle of attack. This reduces bruising and also saves your wrist a little. Sometimes it's better to slap from bottom upwards, sometimes from the top downwards, depending her position and shape.

Also determine whether you can leave marks afterwards, ie: does she have an SO she needs to hide marks from? This will help guide your approach. It's touch to spank for long without marks, but it can be done sortof. If she doesn't want marks, then don't let your hand "sink" into her flesh when your hand contacts her skin. Hey Oralio, really great response. I agree with every point, especially regarding the warm up. Every submissive - regardless of pain tolerance- appreciates that. I prefer to spank longer rather than harder, and have found that a good, lengthy warm-up makes that possible. When properly warmed up, the severity can be gradually increased to a level that can get pretty intense.

Establishing some basic ground rules of behavior, and addressing any concerns she may have up front - regarding limits, implements, marks, safeword, etc. - is also important. I prefer to start over the fully clothed bottom, and then remove layers as the spanking progresses. I think it's sexy, and also helps with the warm up to start over a jean-clad bottom.

Is there a reason for the spanking? Teaching? Discipline? Behavior modification? In that case hitting the same spot until the subject vows to better her behavior is still the best way.
