I'm currently making nursery canes, so I have a ton of rattan drying and being straightened in my bedroom floor right now.

Oh, and since I'm advertising, LOL, Lee has promised me that he'll try to have at least 50 floggers in stock by Folsom. I don't know if he'll get there, (he's doing some study at work that is taking a lot of his hours) but he's trying. So for those who like our floggers, check us out at Folsom.

Thanks everyone for your responses so far. Is it possible to buy a cane or cane-like stick that can be used for BDSM caning from a "regular" store like a hardware store or flower shop, etc?

If you want make a traditional cane, purchase Ratan. Bamboo will release tiny glass like splinters and you will never see your bottom again. Go to the Rattan Shop, in berkeley (off gillman, I think)where the rattan that you want, will probably be a piece that is 18 feet long, enough for 5 or 6 canes. Warning: For amount of labor and skill required, canes are redicuously cheap. For example, your best canes require days of sanding then bending, etc. In Singapor, for judicial caning, they use Dragon canes.. which are made from a peculiar type of Rattan that is super dense. When I purchase dragon canes, I purchase from England from online speciality shops, which imports the super dense, canes. To be honest, regular rattan is intense enough for almost everyone. An inexpensive cane, that might occassionally break can be made from the fiberglass rods sold at tap plastic. (@10 dollars)


BTW if you break a cane on your bottom, many will consider it an honor.
