"How to get help"

LAST EDITED ON 18-Jul-11 AT 01:41 PM (PST)

Help us to help you.

A. We get a lot of service requests. The easier you make it for us to help you, the more likely you will get a resolution and response.

If you do not supply sufficient information, your request will be prioritized lower and possibly dropped in favor of helping those who have taken the time to provide details. This policy extracts maximium benefit from our limited resources.

B. If you are having problems, do not simply say "does not work". That part we can figure out by virtue of your request.

The part we can't figure out is where you were, what you mean, where things went wrong, and how the behavior of the system did not match your expectation.

C. Similarly, do not say "nothing happens". Did you get a blank screen? a page not found error? Did the page refresh and display the same contents as before? Did the page hang?

D. Here are some things we like to know:
What are you trying to do?
How are you doing it? What did you type?
What were you expecting? What did you see?

We need details for us to replicate your problem:
What URL?
What providerid?
What search criteria?

What error message do you get?
What were you expecting to see, and what did you actually see?

E. For complaints about review system, or changes to your review profile:

Go to http://www.myredbook.com/showpro.aspx
Search to find the page in question, then click the ALERT link.

This verifies to us you are looking at the current information. Please supply the old and new values when specifying changes.

For reviews, click the ALERT link on the review page.
If you must email or inbox, include a specific link to what you are talking about or your request will be ignored.

If your claim is that a review is false, do not rant and rave over how obviously false it is. Mount an intelligent and compelling defense by going through each statement in the review and highlighting all the inconsistencies you can find.

If your request for a review deletion is denied you may appeal to the VIP members via a poll in the VIP members forum.

You may also request that a paragraph you supply be appended to the end of a review.

F. To have all your reviews removed: The general policy is six months after you have stopped working, have no ads posted anywhere, and after your last review. After meeting this criteria, find your reviews and click the ALERT link.

1. For your privacy, please direct all questions about your membership and passwords to:
http://www.myredbook.com/support.aspx

2. Service Request priority and response time guidelines:
1. VIP membership (login, billing) issues: <24 hours response
2. Normal membership, Message Board issues: <7 days.
3. Review modifications: <7 days
4. Other, miscellaneous: <14 days
5. Off-topic, insufficient details given: scanned and deleted

Feel free to inbox or email if your request has dropped beyond these guidelines.
