"Links to posts in forum view not working?"

I use the expanded forum view, where the titles of the lead threads (and posters and so forth) are shown, but the post text is not.

Previous, I was able to click on a post and go directly into the thread and right to the text of that post. In other words, if I saw a post from a particular poster within a thread (as seen in forum view), I could click on that post and up it sprang.

Within the past week or so, something has changed. Now, if I try to do what is described above, it takes me to the first post in the thread, and then I have to scroll down to the post of interest. What changed, and why? It's really a pain in the ass. Is it a user setting that I have set up wrong? I don't recall it operating like this ever before.

I brought this to FriscoJack's attention, and he is able to duplicate the problem, but it is intermittent for him. His only solution was that I switch to using a Mac (of course). But I do note that the problem is intermittent for me as well, in certain forums. In Community Hall, or Pool Hall, the problem is persistent.

I don't see any threads in this forum or elsewhere making note of it. Any ideas?

Yep, same exact thing happening here.

Don't know what the precise issue is since it happens on "many" but not "all" discussion forums as you mention.

I haven't personally had time recently to experiment much although the usual clearing cookies, logging out then back in, clearing history, etc. had no change.

Tried different browsers and also different "versions" of browsers as well when the issue first began.

That's just a reflex. Switching to a Mac will certainly solve most, but not all problems...

In point of fact, the same thing is happening to me, though it seems to be a little less predictable for me than S_S_B .

Since it seems to happen regardless of browser, and apparently regardless of platform (though to be completely up front, I haven't tried it on my IBM 360/60, Atari_ST or Amiga yet), I think it is at least possible that the problem could lie with an update the owners may have installed with some bad code. Of course, the owners didn't write the software...but they may well asume that small updates are corrective, not destructive. Like most of us would.

Hmm, moving the server to a mac seems to have fixed it.

Maybe you jokers should just stick with site management and leave the humour to me.
