• 1. Tineye cannot find them from the picture grouping with the Tineye bookmarklet (see above)

• 2. To use tineye, one has to drag each picture to the desktop and upload them separately

• 3. While it is nice to have the pictures grouped and larger on a second page, and the view and favorite count is listed, the RB classified upload link won't upload the pictures into a message.

• 4. When using tineye bookmarklet from the original classified link, too many pictures load which are not part of that Classified ad.

I made some comments in the related thread. But the most common things I do with the pics (besides drool on them) is right click to SAVE AS or do a TINEYE SEARCH.

Please allow us the option to use the old separate image and right click options.

TIA

CL (Grog frustrated with lack of options.)

Red:

On both the original Classified ad AND the new photo collection page, please enable "right clicking" to save images. The right-clicking is necessary for those browsers supporting the Tineye plug-in.

Less efficient alternatives on a Macintosh: the images can be dragged to the desktop or another Finder window, or a screen shot can be taken (command-shift-4, lasso, release).

How do you get the tineye search to work at all? Using Firefox with the tineye add-on (actually the specific add-on I have is called 'Image Search Options' that has several options including tineye), when right clicking nothing happens. I tried using two other browsers (Opera) that does not have any add-ons and IE, still nothing happens when right clicking. It appears the page is not recognized as having any images. That may make slightly more difficult for someone to steal the images but seems to impede a tineye search.

EDIT: nm...I have been using the Firefox plugin for so long, I didn't realize on the tineye website you can enter a webpage address instead of just the address of the image itself. Still, being able to use the plugin was convenient.

TomCat:

Use the "Bookmarklet": http://www.tineye.com/bookmarklet

or use

the plug-ins and more: http://www.tineye.com/goodies

.

The TinEye bookmarklet allows you to search for any images appearing on the web page you are viewing, without having to go to TinEye first. Unlike the TinEye plugin — which allows you to right-click an image to search for it — the bookmarklet is a little script that is run from your browser's bookmark menu. When you click the bookmarklet, it submits the URL of the web page you are viewing to TinEye, fetches the images, and asks you to choose which image to search (just like when you paste a web page URL to the TinEye search page).

Note: The TinEye bookmarklet is recommended for users of Opera, Safari and Safari for the iPhone (which do not support the TinEye plugin).

INSTALLATION:

Just right-click the grey button on the right, and select 'Bookmark This Link' or 'Add to Favorites'. The bookmarklet will be added to your browser's bookmarks menu or toolbar as if it were a regular bookmark.

On some browsers you can actually drag and drop the grey button into your bookmark toolbar so it will appear as below.

Thanks on the bookmarklet info. But for the plugin to work, doesn't 'right clicking' need to be enabled?

Yes, so use the bookmarklet until Red works his magic. If you can get the image on your hard drive, you can also use the regular "choose file" option and upload and examine the single picture.

Seems like a lot of extra work for what use to be a simple right-click.

You must be right clicking on the Classified Ad mini-pix. Those are usable.

Try it here: http://classifieds.myredbook.com/skyonfyr/photos/58898 as a test. The right-click is not enabled on these photo collection URLs.

Good for you. Now let us know how to get it to work for the rest of us. Right-click is still disabled. Tineye is on the right-click menu. If the right-click isn't working, there's no access to the Tineye add-on. Or to Save As for that matter.

New point: The tiny pics aren't enlarged (stretched) to fill the screen and without the zoom feature (I'm talking blackberry internet browser) the pics aren't very visible.

I noticed that right-click is now disabled on the main ad pages and on the picture pages. Also the pictures are lumped into one page so a url for the actual image isn't available so you can't paste the url into the tineye website. Curses foiled again!

There is a fix. If you use the NoScript firefox plugin (which makes the web a much nice and safer place anyway) then the script that RB is using to disable right clicking doesn't run and you can save or tineye. You will need to enable scripts from Rb to use the chat room. There may be other things that are disabled by blocking scripts but I haven't found them yet.

Edit---

Oops nevermind. NoScript prevents proper functioning of the reviews which kind of defeats the whole purpose of the site for me. Oh well you could block the script for a moment to run tineye then re-enable it to read the reviews. Lucky for me 90% of fake pics are obvious, and tineye is only for those borderline cases where I'm not sure.

One work around on saving the images is to save the HTML page using "Save Page As ...".

A folder is created to store the various elements of the page such as all the JPG files for the pictures on the page.

Here's another workaround (for Chrome Browser, but similar in IE as well):

After photo page has been loaded, click on the Tool menu option and select Tools > Developers Tools.

http://forum.myredbook.com/dcforum2/User_files2/rq07z957x3i3ty6w.jpg

When the Developers Tools dialog box appears, select "Resources" on the top menu, and then "Images" on the sub-menu options.
On the left hand sidebar, you will see a listing of the image resources. Scroll down to the image you want to see and click it. The image will appear in the body of the dialog box. To save the image, right click on the image.

For anyone that wants to do a tineye search, click on a picture so all are displayed in the same window. Then drag the picture you want and drop it in your browser's URL field. This will display the picture in the fashion you guys are used to. From there you can right-click and all the other stuff you could do prior to the update.
