"TS at Burning Man?"

Off the Burning Man again next week! Unfortunately, much of the sexuality out there is depressingly traditional. I did see a group called Gender Blender last year, but never got a chance to stop by.

Any TGirls you know of going out there this year? Would be fun to meet up with some like-minded folks.

Best regards,

-SM Player

I know of one or two TS's who go to the Burning Man, but they are not working girls. At an event like that, I am sure you can find someone, though.

I also know a TS who goes to Burning Man every year. But just as Kathy mentioned about the ones she knows, this one is not a working girl either. She's a musician in a rock band for fun and a computer specialist by trade.

I dunno, I'm working harder than I ever have in my life... still trying to reach the point where I'm successful.

I've always wanted to go to Burning Man. But my idea of spending the night in the desert is a nice air conditioned house or hotel suite.

LOL,
TS Jamie

Ah the visions of looking at the sunset, over the vast sand, the cactus (far from the prickly pricks) , cool drink in hand.. On the easy chair....

Successful, non-working TS's, the -Majority-. Sheesh Kathy, you make it seem like every ts in the world is a working girl, and those who have 'real' jobs are the exception. It's simply not true. I'd say the majority of TS's in the bay live in the south bay, work in computer fields, and are generally quite successful. I've known many, many of them. The working girls are the exception, not the rule.

Also, what's your beef with working girls?

Love as thou will.

Hi Gwenyth,

Kathy herself can answer this when she sees it, but I think you might be misinterpreting her comments in the various threads regarding pros and non-pros. Similar to how both Kathy and I misinterpreted Mia's comments until she explained it in more detail.

Kathy has no beef with working girls unless they have an attitude. But that goes for anyone she encounters...working, non-working, successful, unsuccessful, men, women, TS. She judges people by who they are as a person, not what they are.

As for Tabu, she is not banned forever...it's more like a "timeout". Tabu is generally a good person. She goes off every once in awhile, but don't we all? Some of us just don't wear our feelings on our sleeves as she does.

Lastly, Kathy's recent emphasis on successful, non-working TS's is simply to point out exactly what you've stated...that they are in the majority and people should be made aware of that fact. This is by no means meant to put down any of the working girls. We (Kathy and I) went off on a tangent in Cal's thread "Transsexual Women's Successes" so this is just a small way of pointing that out again. And also the fact that there are many more successful TS's in a quiet everyday private life in addition to the ones who are in the public eye.

No beef. I took this job to see that the girls, all of them, especially tabu and Deanna, get a fair shake. However, I do my best to see that the guys get a level playing field. THIS FORUM IS FOR THEM.

I didn't like the division creeping up between TV's and TS's. Note that the TS's referred to the TV's as CD's for the most part. We all know better, so that was a severe putdown that I didn't care for.

Deanna knows me well, and her answr was very precise and comprehensive about my feelings. I just think that to look at TS Success as mostly coming from being a whore is the wrong attitude. I got more support from my job than I did my family. In fact, my boss who is not normally Gay Friendly, protected me very well, without being told to do so.

Where I think a lot of girls make their mistake is when they think that being a TS needs to be part of their job and success. Why not be a chef? Great money. In demand. I was a cutter. Could go anywhere to get a job.

I'm not trying to save the working girls from hell or anything. I just want to see a little balance in the discussion. Deanna also knows who my working girl friends are. That is my biz, and I am not going to say that gee, some of my best friends are hoooers.

As to Tabu, one of her local idiot friends was calling for my dismissal over this. I guess he didn't read the front page at all. I guess he doesn't know that Tabu most likely considers him a middle-aged fatty. The more I hear on this subject, the more I become desensitized to things. It's better left alone.

From now on, I will do what Frisco Jack does: I will fire public warning shots across the bow. Publicly giving the mod's shit is against the rules, this forum's and RB's.

I know you didn't do that, Autumn. I am just using this line of thought to get it through, and hope everyone gets this.
Everyone was getting along fine, with little intervention by me... for months. I'd like to see this happen again. However, if people cause me and/or Deanna to moderate more aggressively, then we will.

Thanks for answering, Deanna. Now we'll be accused of being the same person. sigh... I wish I had your looks.

Ok, I see you.

As a note, this isn't at all about Tabu. I actually feel kinda bad about having commented now, of all times, considering the recent turbulence. And I agree with you, very strongly, about how being Ts needs nothing to do with one's career. The focus on models and actresses and porn stars in the Ts success thread actually bugged me too. Most Ts success stories are a lot quieter and have nothing to do with sex.

But I'm also a pretty strong sex-worker rights advocate. And not just on a legal level, but on an asking for respect level. I'm not in this because I'm Ts, and I'm certainly not Ts in order to work(some folks believe that and it boggles my mind), I'm in it because this is the job that works for me, right now. And in this society that's really not an ok decision. It's something that is belittled and mocked, casually, all the time.

And I do feel that sometimes Kathy, you join in that to some degree. I dunno. I may be reading you wrong.

But yeah, this comment had nothing to do with your mod-ing. I figure that's your business, and I feel you manage that pretty well. I feel kinda bad for having done a bit of shit-stirring recently. I'll try to ease off.

Love as thou will.

hya. looks like we connected thoughts. i only need to say that I am aware I get too strongly on one side of the issue. Thing is, I may be doing that as a balance to three or more people.
I have learned to apologize when I am wrong. Done so in this forum many times.
Oh, and yes, I don't understand all that I should about the working girl. Same with the mongers... except as a young lad I was an awful monger. he he

Good point, but it is very difficult to control the system. You can prevent people from posting crazy stuffs on RB, but you cannot stop them. Some people can create a new name and start the drama again like at any other work places. For example: Daydreamer619, Iamgood69, Main_St, etc..., and Main_St "TS" can create a new name like Main_Avenue, Main_Blvd, Main_Rd,.... Kathy, I feeled bad that you have to deal with these dramatic problems. Some people did not realize that you just have an accident and I'm sure that you went through a lot emotional and physical problems in life.

As for Tabu, She seemed like a nice, intelligent, respectful person when she's with me. Whatever she does behind the door; only God and herself know what's going on. I don't think it is necessary to ban her from RB, because most people knew she created herself a negative image. No matter what kind of cream we use to erase the scar, it won't work 100%. People tend to forgive, but not forget. Even though she will come back in the future; some people don't really care about her anymore.

Tabu, wish you all the best of luck in your future. Wherever you are or whatever you do, take care of yourself and be aware of strangers.

Asking about something you don't know does not show ignorance...it shows the capacity to learn something new which is a good thing .

Burning Man is an annual event held during late summer in the Nevada desert. It's a festival for artists and freedom of expression. It gets it's name from the burning of a wooden man structure created for each festival which can be as tall as 40 feet.
