   Just saw this advertized, next Friday night at 9:00 on channel 7, Prostitution in America, the Working Girls Speak. Diane Sawyer did 2 years of research interviewing hookers and johns across the country. You heard it all here first.

   No shit about the timing being suspect. My guess is that it was so non-compelling that it was shelved. Now they're just going to gravy train on all the Spitzer hoopla.

The tone of the special is, IMHO reflected in this statement.

"Behind every prostitute is a story of sex abuse, drug dependency or mental illness," Sloan said. "No one chooses this."

The Sloan quoted is David Sloan, executive producer of ABC's newsmagazines.

He said it was a serious look at the issue, not an attempt to be salacious.

"We're very proud of it," he said.

Yeah, like this is supposed to be some big public service announcement.

I think I will go spend the 2 hours with an ATF or TOFTT.

   I couldn't disagree with you more about being boring... I thought it showed a side of the hobby many Johns don't want to see or care about. Somewhat "sobering" I suppose is the term I'd use. Sobering enough for me to change my participation? NOPE... but there's real live, caring, feeling human-beings involved here. I hope you treat 'em as such.

Ok, it's about time you started treated them as such if you didn't before. I think some guys equate not getting attached emotionally to brutal treatment. Hopefully these types have always been in the minority.

If this show really does enlighten people to recognize prostitutes as real human beings, great. I didn't see the show, but even if it was a serious attempt at reporting and not salacious, as Mr. Sloan purported, it still sounds as if it had the same old agenda - all prostitution is wrong... someone is always being taken advantage of, people who engage in it are sick or evil or both. I'm sure there was a lot of shaking their heads and clucking their disapproval. The people who produced this are probably sleeping a lot better now with another paycheck under their belts.

The people who produced this show probably haven't had an orgam in decades. Especially true for Diane Sawyer. Only way for them to get off is to produce such moralistic preaching.

Actually they put the Bunny Ranch in a good light and there was an exclusive high end girl who made the case that she was not trapped, unhappy, or among the "estimated 90%" that had been victims of childhood sexual abuse. They stopped short of coming right out and recommending legalization, but the implication was there amid all the dark side expose SW footage. There was also a statistic I hadn't heard before, that the percentage of men who've seen prostitutes has dropped significantly since the 50's. This was one of the hoped for benefits of the Sexual Revolution, that if men didn't have to pay for sex they wouldn't. They did state that case.

I saw the special last night. Jessi (Blonde with big hips) was talking about her My Red Book profile and was checking her reviews. At the end of the show she said that she really wants to get off the street etc. but just does not know how.

Yeah, it was stated that she had an STD and that was the reason she couldn't work at the brothel.

According to the show, she resolved the issue, and started working STD free at the brothel which she couldn't work previously.

Let's at least give this Hooker credit for cleaning herself up.
