"How do you know if a review is fake?"

In looking at the reviews for some girls, clearly some providers provide their own fake reviews but how can you tell? To me, the following apply:

1) If there is only one review, I consider it suspect especially if the reviewer says the provider is the best thing since sliced bread (what was the best thing before that?). I love it when a review is copied from a different provider and the description is all wrong. e.g. "Her dark long legs wrapped around me" when describing a 4'11" white spinner, etc.

2) If most of the reviews are horrible but there are one or two reviews like 1 above.

One more way is to look for great reviews but the person giving the review has only one review but how does one check on the number of reviews a person gave?

That's true so some extent, I find the vip reviews in the aamp forum heavily comprimised by bogus reviews, multi handle reviewers, shills.

For the news guys, it's a learning experience.

It is quite funny when you see three or four reviews in a row from known hanles controled by one person, the 650 area code seems to have alot of that going on. Not all the orgs but quite a few.

If you see ratings above 8 ask yourself how many times you meet women in real life who you would rate that highly that are selling their ass for 4 bills. That should give you insight into the quality of the RB reviews. Oh don't forget the "treat her well" and "I'm not going to get into the details" comments. If you're moronic enough to post a review without telling if the babe gives good head, has a slender build when her photos make her look like she's got ass for days or that the pictures she's posted don't reflect her true height/weight relationship you're doing more harm than good.

This is too funny but ABSOLUTELY true. It's often another lapdog, hooker herself, or someone with a financial interest (or other) posting. Real Men don't post reviews and leave out details. It's the only way we have of knowing what is available.

Why write one if you aren't going to say shit about what she does?

A few years ago we had some guidelines implemented when rating, numerically, the girls. A 10 is "once in a lifetime" for example, still we get review inflation and lack of details. Time for a good thread on what others find as a "helpful" review that others should take into consideration.

Ok maybe not entirely useless but certainly of little value to anyone with above average intelligence and/or income or fat sumbytchs like me for damn sure. Scams are to be run on those incapable of reasonable thought. A review from a guy who's posted less than 9 reviews in 6 months says he's really not spending any money so why would I take his word this this Sac babe looks better in person when for years I've relied on those types of reviews only to find babes with curvy bodies. Give me a friggin break. Man up write a descriptive review or just don't be part of the problem. It's not cool just because you blow through a bad session to not tell the rest of us she's cute but couldn't screw her way out of a wet paper sack or that she has these things on her legs or her stomach is way large(kinda like mine). Fellas it just aint right and it damn sure aint funny to help those who defraud us with intentionally misleading pictures. You're not being a gentleman or a decent person you're being used.

Actually, I kept a few details private about my encounter with a provider because it seemed clear to me that she had crossed the line based on a great connection and I didn't think it would be fair to her if I set expectations for others to get the same treatment. That said, I did want to emphasize that she was the type to act on such a connection if it occurred.I still included the standard details, so the expected info was there. I consider that an appropriate approach.

Im not here to complain nor rebuttle what everyone else is saying. I am however, here to say this because its my observations. I think we all have to come to realize that RB is no longer that small website that we used to visit. The reality is, we have more lurkers and first timers here, ever than before. So we welcome any new influx that may come in and offer their opinion(s).
Which brings us to the subject of reviews.
One post wonders and one review or so posters, are abound!

Hence: Welcome to the world of skewed ratings, my friend.

You take it with a grain of salt.
As some other vet mentioned, he relies on his spidey senses.
I suggest you thicken your skin some more and learn some of that as well.

Is every review enthusiastically positive?

If so, then one or all the following things are in play:

1. Some of the reviews are fake;

2. The guys who had less favorable sessions are intimidated into not posting a review.

3. The provider has succeeded in getting the negative reviews pulled.

Be the change

I noticed the following pattern with a girl seeking $$$$/ hr

1) She came out of nowhere with 5 reviews all in the same month.
2) All her reviewers had around 4-5 other reviews, all from around the same month.
3) Her reviewers gave her long, detailed reports. For their other reviews? Just a couple lines.

Everything pointed to the reality that she'd (somewhat) elaborately stuffed the box with her own reviews. Despite all this, I went to see her anyway.

Turned out she was pretty good -- the girl in the pics, RBGFE. In the end, I figured, even if she reviewed herself, as long as she delivered what was advertised, I would be happy.

I figure gaming the reviews is more rampant than ever these days. The younger generation knows how to use the net.

As mentioned, one needs to have VIP membership in order to ferret out the phony reviews. One rule of thumb is that an initial 10/10 (or a 10/9 etc) review for a new provider given by someone reviewing for the first time is always a phony one. Other reviews are not credible for other reasons. For example if you see a 10/10 review and then notice that the hobbyist's history shows mostly other 10/10 reviews then you can figure that he is either a shill or falls in love with every provider he sees. Same with a real shitty review. If that person doesn't have any other published reviews, it is possibly someone, perhaps another provider who's jealous, who wants to hurt that girl's business.

The one main thing no one has mentioned here is if you're going to write reviews, specially negative reviews then you should have an alternate handle to do it. The main reason guys are writing all these bogus reviews is (I think):
1. They don't want to offend the girl in public or get heat from the girl because their handle is known by many
2. Want to use her for future references
3. Can you think of any other reasons

I say this because I once wrote a not so good review of a gal and the next day I get an e-mail of her crying about it.

Dickhunger, I understand your reasoning about using a secondary handle when posting negative reviews. However, I disagree and here's why. If I read one of your poor reviews and then check out your handle and only see shitty reviews then I figure you're not credible and/or a jealous provider trying to ruin other girls' business. A less than complimentary review coming from a guy who has lots of reviews both good and bad carries a lot more weight with me.

My suggestion to you is to never give up your hobby handle to a provider. That way she doesn't know who you are when it's posted. And to be safe, post it at least a week after the fact and change around some detail to throw her off. If she does incalls in multiple locations, say you saw her in one of the other places other than the one you actually saw her in. If you had a weekend evening appointment, mention that you saw her for a nooner during the week. Believe me, most providers are not going to be able to figure out that it was you if you play your cards right.

just my two cents:

spend some time in the forums - sometimes you'll find your work has been done for you. i've found that the payoff for paying attention to the forums results in higher dividends.

i've found (in my somewhat limited experience) that despite many seemingly legitimate reviews, it still boils down to one thing - one persons opinion of another. it's like any other reviewer.. there are movie reviewers, for instance, that you tend to agree with more than others. since the cost of admission for our hobby is considerably more than a movie, it's worth the investment.

search for posts by someone on your list of candidates - see how you feel about what they have to say on topics that are not necessarily related to the "main objective" of this site. it will give you a better idea of what the person behind the ad is like. you can get a lot of additional info if you lurk in the pink book (where only the ladies can post, but all can read)

start bookmarking reviewers that you tend to agree with, then check out the ads for other ladies they've reviewed.. if your favorite reviewer has good things to say about someone and you like what you see in the ad.. chances are you'll have a good experience.

A lot of good points here. Filtering out blatantly fake one-review wonders with short descriptions is fairly easy enough, usually by a shill or the provider herself. But there seems to be another breed of faux reviewer who has neither seem nor is associated with the provider yet posts a review (usually positive, sometimes negative). Whether for fantasy purposes or just because they have nothing better to do who knows.

Overall it is becoming a bit more research intensive for those doing due diligence before committing to a session, especially those seeking somewhat newer, lesser reviewed providers.

[*edit: Come to think of it these faux reviewers may be posting in order to gain access to "normal" membership to read detailed reviews. They may also be attempting to build false credentials in order to see better providers, to negotiate better rates with new providers by promising a review from a credible source, etc.]

Good catch of these 'faux' reviewers. Many sites allow some form of membership based on the number of posted reviews so obviously that is an issue though less here than some other sites. Many of these reviewers are pretty clever.
The lazy ones will cut and paste their old reviews into a new one so the wording is the same or very similar. The really clever ones will lift an old review for the same girl written by another hobbyist. The reason I know this is that it happened to me.
I was reading a review for a provider I had seen about a year earlier and thought, goddamn, that sounds exactly like my experience with her. Sure enough when I went back and looked at my review I discovered that he had stolen it and posted it word for word. Needless to say I hit the Alert button on that one.

An excellent topic, and many excellent responses. How do you weed out the fake reviews - probably no sure-fire way especially with some of the newer girls who haven't built up a review history yet. Ironically that can be a very good time to go see some of the hot new providers when they still have "introductory" rates that haven't swelled along with their egos after getting lots of good reviews. Your best guide is experience and your spidey-sense.

Why the inflated reviews? A good question as well - and I think the original guidelines are still good - 10 should be a one in a lifetime experience for sure. I know I haven't given out any tens and I'm not likely to do so - although I've had a few that came close. I tend to rate the girls I like in the range of 7 to 9, and I take several factors into consideration when coming up with my subjective ratings.

Since I review using my handle, not a "review" handle I stand by the reviews I write, although I only recently started to actually write reviews and post on this board even though I have been lurking on it as a non-member since pre "Charter Member" days.

I recently had an experience with a relatively new provider, who I won't identify here, who I had a great experience with and wrote a very positive review. She wrote me a very sharp email asking me to withdraw the review because I had mentioned that she didn't normally provide GFE, and didn't provide those services but said that she like me and might provide those services if she got to know me better. So I mentioned it was a YMMV situation, well she hit the roof and said she would never, ever provide GFE, and since I had mentioned it was YMMV that she didn't want to see me again even though we had really hit it off well. I went out of my way to accomodate her wishes and edited the review to meet her objections (basically omitted the reference to YMMV), but otherwise left the details of our session.

She gave me grief until the review was changed to meet her objections on one or two minor details. In my mind the review was glowing - nevertheless she treated me badly and I will not see HER again. The ironic thing is that she has now raised her rates highly and advertises GFE.

I haven't had any other providers obhect to my reviews, and after that experience I will be very unlikely to be so accomodating when a provider complains about a review. I can be thick-skinned as well, but I like to think I'm a nice guy. I write them carefully and try to be informative without being dishonest to either other mongers or to the providers. If they are so thin-skinned that they don't want to be reviewed they shouldn't read the reviews, or they should ask specifically that they not be reviewed in advance of the session or in their ads...

My $0.02...

You can't completely rely on just the fact the a reviewer has a few other reviews. I think some of the smarter girls know to build up a history for a fake reviewer. Take a look at the other reviews the reviewer is giving. Did they all come around the same time? Are they short and lacking in detail? I think a a review by an established PL with a long track record is a better endorsement.

Read the reviews in your area of interest every day (say east bay escorts). Put some effort into reading old reviews in your area of interest. You will come to know the handles of reliable and unreliable reviewers. You will also get a feel for what is genuine and what isn't. Also write reviews and you'll see the effort that goes into doing it right. Just because a review is short doesn't mean it is fake. Lots of us are lazy bastards that don't want to put in the effort to get laid the "normal way" why would you expect us to work hard on getting laid this way? Just like looking at lots of ads will give you a feel for which pics are fake, looking at lots of reviews will give you the same sense. Handles with numbers, like Tom1234, are immediately suspect. New handles are suspect. Handles that have given glowing reviews only to girls w. a particular org are suspect. Reviews that disagree with most other reviews for that girl are suspect especially if the outlier is positive and the rest are negative.

Ignore the numbers on the reviews almost completely. We've all noticed that great service inflates to "looks" score. And I've noticed that great looks inflate the service score. I've seen lots of reviews from guys who describe a total hottie that wouldn't kiss or let them go down, insisted on a glove before any FOV, yet got 10/10. The only time the numbers are useful is when you see a 4/9.5 which means that the reviewer had a great time despite the fact that she is ugly. Also on the numbers if you get great service from a not so stunning girl, and I intend to go back for more great service are you gonna give her a 5 for looks? This is approximately the real scale for looks in these reviews 8 average. 9 hot. 10 wow/shill. 7 plain 6 and below, get a paper sack.

So we've agreed to ignore the numbers. Now actually read the text of the reviews. I look for negative things in any review. If you read that the PO was stupid and rude, it isn't too likely that the PO or the girl who works for him wrote the review. If an otherwise glowing review mentions that she has a spare tire, or bad breath, or ass acne, that adds credibility. Other details that help paint a picture can add credibility or usefulness of a review.

Another kind of fake review to look out for is the hater reivew. If a girl has 10 decent reviews and then 3 awful reviews is someone out to get her or has she hit rock bottom and went to hell? Hard to say.

The best tool would be to have VIP and look at the other reviews by that reviewer. I don't have VIP so I rely on other cues.
