"Videos"

I'm in a slight conundrum... I have a couple video tapes that I want to transfer to a DVD or MPG format. However my computer isn't reading my camcorder. I've been looking to hire someone to transfer my tapes, but don't want to find them on the internet a week later! Does anybody have a referral I could use for a discrete company to utilize?

If you dont want a stranger getting hold of your videos. You can do it yourself. Sony has a multi-function DVD recorder, you can transfer your old mini tapes and disc or even full size tapes to a disc. You can get the recorder @ Best Buy or costco which would be about 25$ cheaper I bought mine @ Best Buy for 170 last year. Pretty simple to use. Look @ it this way for that price it just like missing one AAMP session.

What kind of tape? Is it VHS or Mini-DV?

If it is Mini-DV, you can just get USB cable or Firewire (if your camcorder and your computer have the port) cable and use Windows Moviemaker to capture. Firewire works better for me because it does not drop frame.

If it is VHS, then the DVD Recorder/VHS combo player would be the best solution.

I didn't release what fire wire really was until i starting looking into connecting the standalone converter to my current camcorder. I must say that it has worked beautiful and fulfilled all our needs. If there is anybody else who needs this type of assistance, please let me know.

Thanks!
Brent
