Police briefs: 10 suspected prostitutes arrested

Salinas police reported 10 people were arrested on suspicion of prostitution in an undercover sting operation late Thursday.

Six were women and four were men, dressed as women, Sgt. Matt Maldonado said.

Taken into custody were Tammy Marie Hacket, 47, Glenda Crawford, 55, Stephanie Grace Gleason, 20, Debra Elizabeth Williams, 45, Catherine Rose Steel, 43, Kenya Carter, 26, Jose Velario, 25, Aldo Vasquez, 27, Alejandro Barrigan Flores, 26, and Victor Uribe, 19.

Maldonado said officers targeted the areas of John, Griffin, Neil and Kern streets in response to complaints from residents. All 10 people offered to perform various sex acts in exchange for money to an undercover decoy.

Crawford was booked into county jail for warrants on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance, and for driving on a suspended license, according to jail records.

The others were given citations and released.

   Yikes, 40% of the hookers were dudes dressed as women! And among the legit women, a 55 yr-old granny, plus a couple of "girls" closer to 50 than 40! Oh well, at least the Salinas Police were only targeting local Streetwalkers ("in response to complaints from residents"), rather than wasting their resources trying to police the Internet.

   Of course the article didn't say what the complaints were....my guess was the lack of quality pros in the area! Grannies and Trannies? I'd complain, too!
