I just received Dr. Laura's latest e-mail newsletter, which contained the subject line, "Liberated Women Hurting The Business of Intimacy, Tonight at 8pm on KSFO 560AM"

The message reads as follows:

"Taking Food Out of the Mouths of Call Girls

There's a new economics book out that uses the business of prostitution as an example of the principle of supply and demand. It turns out that the willingness of today's girlfriends to engage in casual sex has caused the prices for "professionals" to plummet, so they've had to resort to more entrepreneurial tactics to sell their wares. There's more fascinating information about this "case study," and, of course, I'll add my own opinion, tonight at 8pm on KSFO 560AM."


Dr. Laura, of course, is famous for discouraging people from having sex outside of marriage.

I'm ok with Dr. Laura adding her opinion. Just as long as she doesn't discuss her own menu. Seriously though, there is probably some truth to this and I would like to here a provider's perspective.

That's a big reason why I am not married (was once).

Dr. Laura seems to be focusing on the supply side. I wonder if she has considered how current economic conditions affect the demand side.

Whenever somebody calls Dr. Laura for advice, and it become apparent that a guy's sleeping with a woman he's not married to, Dr. Laura says, "So you've got a honey!"

And if you're living with your "honey," that's called "shacking up."

Both very negative things in her opinion.

   Dr. Laura is a two faced hypocritical bitch. Before she was orthodox in the 90's she was very objective. Now she is just a pious bitch that acts as if she has never made a mistake in her life and would rather resort to stoning before forgiving. Fuck her.

Back in the '60s, she was fucking around with radio personality Bill Ballance, who greatly helped her career. There used to be nude pix of her on the internet a few years back.

I disagree with a lot of her views, but I'm not ready to completely discount everything she says. Too often, I hear confused people call her show, and she cuts right through the bullshit with almost preternatural insight.

Plus, she is constantly advocating for the protection of children.

I think the PhD in Physiology is actually more meaningful. At least implies some level of acceptance of the scientific method. In my (expert) opinion, a psychology degree is less than useless...more like evidence of contamination.

I used to listen to her show religiously. I even got her book and subscribed to her online stream. But the more I listened the more I think this lady is in her own world. Don't get me wrong. She has good advice for her callers 50% of the time. But the other 50% is just so unrealistic, like no sex before marriage, mom must not work and has to stay home for her kids, dad must be the only food provider, it's always the mom's fault when dad is cheating, single mother must not have sex or get married until her kids become adults...I can go on and on.

But this is the Bay Area, if every single person applies to her philosophies how many sigle income earning household can still keep a roof under his head? Imagine a work force with no married women. It's absurd.

Here is the hypocritical part, she has a son yet she always working. What happen to do what you preach? Shouldn't she stay home and be a full time mother?

Ok, now her son is all f-ked up and crazy.
