"Getting Rid of Porn"

Well, I'm taking the big plunge in a couple weeks and moving in with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, I have a TON of porn (dvds, vhs, etc.) that I somehow need to get rid of between now and then.
Anyone know of any places in the area that will give you money for pre viewed porn? Or if worst comes to worst, just take it off you hands? I'd feel really weird about just dumping it all in a dumpster somewhere...
Thanks for any suggestions.

- Craigslist ("get a shitload of porn for only $100!" or something like that)

- Try calling Kayo Books in the Tenderloin. They buy old dirty mags, and while they may not buy movies (not sure) they probably get asked who does all the time and might be able to refer you.

The center for sex and culture is building a library of donated porn, 1519 Mission St. SF, www.sexandculture.org . You could look them up and call them. They are a charity, so you'd get a tax deduction, and Carol and Robert are great people.

That is an awesome solution. Get a tax deduction and help others by giving the gift that keeps on giving. Talk about a win-win!

Is that place still in business? Great shop had all kinds of magazines. Great variety. They used to buy back video too. I wonder if they still do that now since now everything is in DVD?

Its called The Magazine, and yes its still open for business. I doubt they'll buy your VHS tapes, but they have a large and growing selection of DVDs.

   Dude,
you may want to live in a fantasy world, but before you know it or while you are not at home your little lady will be viewing some of those PORN movies. Do what you must, but women are no different than we are they will sometimes say get rid of them and turn around want to enjoy while with you. I have had women tell me they do not like them and later say we can watch one together.

Put it in a storage locker. Someday the novelty of being with your gf will wear off, and you'll regret losing your magnificent collection.

And frankly if you have to destroy an important part of yourself to be with your gf ... well you tell me.

I would just keep them. You aren't getting married are you? Besides you can keep what you have before any of this... it is all YOURS. You are the man.

Transfer the vhs files to digital and store them on dvd's or a portable hard drive or locked file on hard drive or an online storage area.

Same with the DVD's.

You will definitiely be pleasantly surprised by your gf getting into porn. Start by signing up for Showtime then discovering the adult films while surfing after 11:00 pm They are porn but chick level. From there...

It's only a game...

There was a adult book/video/dvd store on El Camino Real, just off of 85, towards Sunnyvale. They would buy and trade all types of porn materials. It is located next to a strip bar in a small, excuse the pun, stripe mall. However, you may only get pennies on the dollar. I agree with many of the past responder's that you should just keep your collection. Remember the old joke, "why is the bride smiling so much on her wedding day - because she will never have to give another blowjob again." As in most relationships, the lust will wane long before the allure of your porn collection!

Goodwill or the Salvation Army. If that doesn't work check out your local Boy Scout Troop.

I used to buy a few DVD's from adultdvdempire and recall that they do buy some.

Went to look at their site just now and doesn't seem like they pay much, and only for certain titles, but might be worth going to the link and checking it out anyway.

They do pay very little for most titles. There are even some titles they won't accept. But if you have to simply get rid of them, this sounds like a good way of doing it.

If you have to hide the porn from your GF, she is not right for you. Next she will make you give up your music, your hobbies and your friends. She does not have to like it or watch it herself. But she has no right to make you give it up. No matter what the Dr. Phils and Dr. Laura's of the world say, porn is not cheating.

Now if you would rather watch porn than fuck your gf, you have bigger problems. Otherwise, be a man. Tell her that its your porn and your business.

eBay. Back in the day of VHS I sorted out the faves and boxed up the rest. Sold them by box. A dealer bougght most of them. Probably could have made more $$ by selling them separate but this was easier.

I've been where you're at so many times. Keep it as long as you can. I remember in my past how many stacks of porn (of all various media going back to 8mm's in the late 60's) that I've gotten rid of every time I get a new GF. Now I wish I kept most of them b/c now as an older person & married I like to recollect those old classics. Its hard to find those any more & if you do it'll cost you an arm & a leg to buy them again. To me each generation of porn represents that particular generation like music. The porn today don't always appeal to older guys like us. Just like my dad's or grand-dad's don't have the same ... you know what I mean. I know some of those early ones are laughable b/c of the plots & the go-go music that went w/ it but for a teenager, soldier & the years following. They were golden moments.

May not want to keep all, but I'm sure there're some favorites.

I'm sure some of the older handles on this board can relate & may expand it with more clarity or another perspective.
