"The lurker"

Have you noticed the increase of people with few posts to their name claiming to be veterans but are using a new handle for whatever reason?

I always get a kick out of these guys trying to get valuable information without putting in the time nor going through the hoops!

I think many are using alt handle to hide themselves. I do hear hobbyist worrying about their ATF or whoever they saw get jealous and give some form of reprisal. I have been super lucky in that regard, women I saw were not only OK with being my ref, they were very positive about me exploring.

In ancient Japan if you were caught with another provider by your ATF she could have you dressed in a red kimono (only worn by providers) and force to wear womens make up.
Luckily we have moved beyond that.

Personally I just think they're Poser Noobs. Some of their questions are too ignorant

Okay so if I understand correctly (lurkers) are evil parasites that should be exterminated. If thats the case then we should also expel those providers that simply change there RB handle for what ever reason they choose... Okay bad example !!! I don't completely disagree with those individuals that use alternative handles, provided that its not done in a malicious way.... I think that there are some (probably a small majority) that simply want to change there RB handles because they're tired of there old ones ..... ( Change is Good!!! ) The crappy part for those that choose to do so.... is they simply have to start posting from zero !!!

Besides lurkers there are those with tarnished or hated reputations or those that are out to attack someone else or possibly to promote a certain girl/house etc... and of course LE!

This is by far the most common reason I've seen when people use alternate handles.

Very true, indeed, Oralio. Jujube nailed it right on the head. The "deception" is really annoying, at the very least. But hey, it's RB and the Internet, right?

Incorrect interpretation of the alert:

"bust members on message boards who have an active membership... Confiscate their...user handles/passwords to run sting operations"

So it's not new members you should watch for but established members who have been busted and their handles assumed by LE.

Thanks for pointing this out Po. Fear of being targeted as a "serial john" is another great argument for keeping oneself off the radar and not giving out personal information.

Old ones can easily create the new handle... knowing too much as newbie
Sounds familiar?

I am glad you feel safe. I guess some women also want the same thing.
You and those women will never meet, so I guess there is no issue. lol

Yeah, that's what THIS the thread is about. I was pointing out that the "alert" from pinkbook you cited has nothing to do with veterans with a new handle. In fact it's about exactly the opposite situation; the point we get from that "alert" was not to overly trust established handles because they could be in LE control.

>Sounds familiar?

I make no secret that I've changed my handle before and will again. I also don't participate in secret information sharing or ask people for any information they wouldn't share with everybody. Anyone who is giving out sensitive information is fooling themselves, and is either in danger of getting busted or endangering others.

>I am glad you feel safe. I guess some women also want the
>same thing.

Honestly I find the PB thread pretty unlikely; LE putting together a long term complicated sting like that seems far-fetched to me. But for the sake of argument, the guy who didn't trade personal information with ladies is much less of a danger to others than the indiscreet gent that has various people's personal information and was targeted as a "serial john."
