"'Family Emergency' Statistics"

   OK. First, a few caveats:

1) I've got great references and plenty of them.
2) I don't see unreviewed providers or providers that have a "flake" review in the last six months.

Still, since I've kept track of this particular statistic, I've sessioned 41 times and had providers cancel at the last minute on 11 other occassions because of a "family emergency".

To put that in perspective, that means, all things being equal, a provider has a "family emergency" a little over once every 5 days. That's roughly 73 "family emergencies" a year. Man, providers must have a lot of family! And with that many emergencies, I don't see how those family members even manage to stay alive.

Granted, there are several providers I've seen who I've sessioned with 6 or more times that *never* cancel a session. So, that means these "family emergencies" are even more concentrated than I thought.

I'm not going to point fingers or call anyone out because family emergencies do occur and I don't want to be the douche bag who accuses someone of lying when they're actually dealing with a crisis. But you've got to admit, those statistics are pretty incredible.

And I'm sure clients cancel for all sorts of half-assed reasons, as well.

But, for me, I've taken to writing someone off the list immediately if they cancel our first session for an emergency. If you can't even make the first session, adios. I don't have the time and patience for the damn flakiness anymore.

I suspect if more clients did so, we might actually see a drop in "family emergencies" happening to providers.

I suspect many hobbyists have used "family" as well. I did once with a provider that schedules via email only. I had also requested and got an appointment with another provider for the same time. When I checked my email I discovered I was double booked. I told the email provider "a family obligation" came up. As luck would have it the phone provider happened to talk to her and I was busted. I broke a trust with her and she no longer sees me. I rationalized at the time that I was sparing her feelings when in fact I was soothing mine. I regret the decision to tell her that "white" lie to this day as she is one of the most loving and sexy women on RB and I truly enjoyed our times together. The upside is I don't double book but if by some chance while trying to get a date and I call around I now will tell any provider that calls after I have booked "Thank you but someone got back to me sooner".

Another favorite of mine are "phone problems". Either, the call goes straight to VM where the OGM says "I have lost my phone" (or something similar) and goes on to request a message so that she can call back. Or she will blow off a meeting and be unreachable until way later when she will claim "phone problems". It is nothing short of amazing but as a group escorts seem to have the worst luck with cellphones regardless of who their phone company is.

That said, and maybe somewhat related, I have two other pet peeves when it comes to phone manners (or lack thereof). The first is when you call a provider who answers almost immediately and then claims to be busy; next she asks if she can call you back in five minutes. That's usually the last you'll ever hear from them. Alternatively, they will ask whether *you* can call back in five minutes and from thereon your calls will go straight to VM. Unless, of course, you call from a different number...
