For me it's a yes. I can spend all day doing this shit or surfing Redbook checking all the eye candy and reviews, as long as I don't shot my load. If I have a full time job of course I can leave it and go back to normal. I guess I have a mild addictive personality. Is the same thing with drinking, trading stocks or gambling. With gambling as long as I don't go to a casino I'm OK.

So does anybody has her phone# or handle?

I said ouch when I read this part ...

The addicts who spend hours downloading, categorizing and storing porn display behavior similar to that of hoarders, she says. "The same kind of obsessive-compulsive aspect is part of the anxiety. You get comfort and satisfaction just knowing it's there, like having a lot of toys in the toy closet. It gives you a sense of mastery and control."

Dude that article seemed to be about me. Addicted? Maybe not. But I do sense I'll never be in a real intimate relationship ever. Mainly due to my mongering and about an hour (sometimes more) everyday of hardcore porn. I keep telling myself I'm "ok" with that.

Excellent article on a subject that is going to become more and more of a concern as continuing advances in electronic media allow us to have increasingly realistic virtual experiences (think Star Trek holodeck here). For those of us with an addictive/compulsive bent to our personality, all that readily available porn will, no doubt, result in an increase in dependency and addiction that will take a substantial toll on career achievement and intimate relationships just as drug/alcohol and gambling addiction now do.

One important factor that was not sufficiently highlighted in the article regarding porn's potential for creating dependency and dysfunction is that, unlike most other forms of addiction, the still photos and full motion/sound images that comprise it are free or very low cost on the internet. That fact, combined with its easy availability wherever there's an internet connection make this form of addictive/compulsive behavior all the more easy to engage in.

To answer your question: For me, two-dimensional representations are as much a tease as those silly titty bars. I grew tired of masturbation at a fairly young age, due in large part to the ready availability of real live girls. As a result, while I do spent some time on the internet ogling beautiful young, nekid girls, they are girls that are actually available to me (for the right price). I definitely try to limit the amount of time that I put into it, though, because the pursuit of beautiful rent girls can be just as addictive as porn - and a damn sight more expensive too!

I'm a little confused, the tone of the article seems to indicate this is not a good thing!
