Bit of both I suppose. I usually have a preplanned day that I hobby and if the girl I want is available I figure it's fate and go. If she is not, I don't choose another and figure it was not meant to be.

I always researched communicated and planned ahead and had almost always good experience.

I also see someone who I connected repeatedly. IMHO, for last minute, impulsive meeting, it is much safer, more satisfying to see your repeat ladies even if you are thinking of slightly different body type and dynamics. With a repeat lady, you can call ahead and request sexy attire ( or no attire ) when she opens the door or certain dynamic and scene you are in mood for.

For a new lady, I think it is safer and also prudent financially.. to research well ( reading her ad text, review and her posts very closely)
and spend reasonable amount of time communicating before setting up a meeting. Plus think objectively and evaluate what you are seeking and if that is what she is good at providing.

In my serious mongering days, it was almost all impulse. I'd get hot and bothered at work checking out all the hot office girls that I couldn't fuck or even proposition due to my position of authority, and to deal with the frustration I'd go chasing down whomever I could find advertised online. Sneak into an empty conference room and make the appointment for that evening, and even sometimes at lunch.

Or I'd be out in the evening trying to pick up someone, or hanging out with friends, and getting nowhere with whomever I was trying to score with, or just being lonely out during the weekend by myself doing whatever, so I'd instead pick up a Guardian or Weekly (back when they had pages of ads) and get on my cellphone and set up an appointment for RIGHT NOW.

Nowadays I shop carefully and pick judiciously-- most of the time. I still occasionally fuck up and go with whomever is available or returns my calls or emails most quickly, but that ALWAYS turns out to be a mistake.

Really, the reference system has made quality spontaneous impulse appointments almost impossible. The girls who don't require references aren't necessarily low quality, but they are definitely a crapshoot. I can't afford to gamble with my finances in such horrible shape at this time.

I can afford roughly one session every 6-9 months these days, so yes, I pick them very carefully and the days of impulse are no more.

I'm about 80% impulse (post-drink). 20% of the time I plan it in advance.

EDIT: Yeah, "both" makes sense too. Maybe you move on impulse, but doing your homework in advance certainly suggests premeditated moves. I try to be informed when I head out, regardless of my state of mind.
