"craigslist casual encouters scams?"

   johnbsmith

I'm curious about the type of scams you're signing up for if you answer the casual encouter ads on craigslist. Thanks

Just post your own, but be ready for the flood of fake replies. The inconvenience is worth it, though, when you manage to ferret out a real person.

Given my lack of results on CL casual encounters, I think I'd settle for a ferret.

Casual encounters is not to be taken literally. It is a fantasy for a guy to meet a lonely horny girl, and many guys make the mistake of believing that that fantasy can be a reality (too much porn viewing maybe?). Anyway, the chances of experiencing a scam are far higher than actually meeting a girl for no-frills sex.

There are 100 guys to every girl looking to hook up. That proportion is not exact, but you get the idea. Scammers know this and take advantage of guys who are following their hormones. One thing you want to always remember is NEVER give out your home address. You invite a CL girl to your place...she doesn't show up. You chalk it up to a flake, but a few days later, your place is robbed. Another scam is when she invites you to her place or some meeting point. You drive there, and again...a no show. Little do you know is that they are surveilling you and then follow you back to your place. Now that they know your address, they stake you out for you to leave. Then they break in and rob your place. CL scammers may be working as a team, so don't think it is just one person. You may be thinking that you are talking with a girl, but that person may be a guy...or a few of them. Whenever you go to an outcall, be it for casual encounters or something else, if you don't know the person you are meeting, ALWAYS park your car at some distance and walk there. If a no show, find another way to get back to your car. Waste time in that area, perhaps go to a store, don't let them figure out that you are the guy. Don't be an idiot and stand smack in the middle of the meeting point and then get on your cell calling her, looking like you are looking for someone. Remember, they could be looking for to identify you from a safe distance from the meeting point. If you want to call, then you too should do it from a safe distance eyeing the meeting point and then asking where she is. If she doesn't answer, then you know she's a fake...and they will never see you either.

Anyway, there are other scams, maybe others here can tell you about them.

   Good ADVISE from The7thStorehouse.

One thing I would add is always meet first at a public place like

a Starbucks or In and Out burger joint before you decide too set

up a real date.

Boy you are paranoid! I think the only real scams are the computer virus kinds. Think about it. Why go to all that trouble to follow you around to see where you live? You can stop by any house in any neighborhood that are empty all day. Most people go to work you know! Its easy to watch any house or neighborhood for a few days and find out the patterns of comings and goings. Why do through the whole CL route? Unless they know something particularly valuable is in your home, whats the point?

This has happened to 4 people I know...so it's not paranoia. It's real. These are organized criminals who create fake accounts maybe at a library and the try to lure people to a certain location. I see your point about the process being complicated, but maybe these criminals just work that way.

Why would a home robber need to go through this bother, as compared to just picking a house and breaking in?

Not all criminals have the same tolerance for risk. Criminals also tend to be plagued with superstitions and quirks and how they get their kicks. If they were monsters of logic they would not be street criminals to begin with.

There's one you can fall for even if you never hook up with a lady.

You answer an ad. "She" sends you a message with a web link. You follow the link. That web site installs malware on your computer. That malware makes your computer part of a botnet, serving up spam and pop-up ads to the world. Your computer will slow down, and so will your Internet connection.

There's a guy named Eddie Temple who is well known for this kind of thing. And apparently, when you get wise to him, he offers to "cut you in" on his action. Just send him your credit card number and he'll send you money!

well... CL casual encounters ... is pretty much scam territory .. where they are looking for good email addresses... or virus installation..

However, I have met a few real life deals on CL ... I have not posted or answered posts for quite some time... but when I did, I'd say 90 percent of the time it was scammers...

I guess if I were looking for FWB or NSA ... that my hit rate really wasn't bad... I did find one gal that really is a great person and seems to be fun .. I have really kept a distance as it just seems as if she'd like to have something a little more "relationship like" than I am/was looking for... lets say you were to respond to 100 or so ads, and find 1 FWB or a happy fun thing.... is that really bad???

BTW -- I'd love to know what ad copy works for generating replies... as I remember posting a bunch of times and getting somewhere near zero results... even the scammers left my posts alone! gawd is that humbling! lol

Every one imaginable and more. CL casual encounters section has become the new home of all manner of automated 'bot' response scams, bait and switch schemes and camoflaged porn site portal entrances. On the other hand, the Adult Gigs section has yielded quite a few genuine responses for me. I enjoy the companionship of beautiful young non pro schoolgirls and there seems to be a plethora of those in need of financial assistance these days. So, if your curiosity is more than just idle, I'd suggest crafting a well-written ad or two and posting there - very little to lose and much to gain!

The most popular scam is "age verification". They get your credit card and start using it. And there are 2 or 3 girl's pics that always show up.

But if you know the signs of a real posting, you'll get laid but it is always for $$. "car payments, rent, books,.......

I agree that 99.99% of the w4m casual encounter ads on Craigslist are scams. The only ones that aren't are posted by the pros who are no longer have the ability and/or desire to post in 'adult services'. Thyse adds are quickly flagged and removed. However they are still out there, howwever briefly.

You can easily recognize one of these legit ads because the girl will post her telephone # with the ad. I've had several successful hook-ups there, but the girls definitly weren't amateurs out for a fling.

The biggest scams are the verification sites. Once I got a homo response to a m4w ad, I stopped posting. You can tell a real ad after a while. Most are from milfs or bbw or bbw milfs though. I have scored with 4 women in the last 4 months through CL. I'm tired of the fatties though, and would rather pay a 21 yo hottie than get it from a cow for free.

Do I really have to ask you two more times?

   On a related note....
http://www.necn.com/04/06/10/Bogus-sex-ad-on-Craigslist-leads-to-arre/landing.html?blockID=211114&feedID=4215

(NECN: Brian Burnell, Hartford, Conn.) - A bogus Craigslist ad for group sex has led to the arrest of a Connecticut man, who police say went to the wrong house and groped an 18-year-old woman.

The man in jail is not the only one who responded to the fake ad, but he is the only one who allegedly went to the wrong house and then went too far.

Essentially, the ad said:

Lt. Stephen Estes, West Hartford CT PD: 40-year-old married West Hartford soccer mom looking for fantasy group sex.

The ad listed an address where the "soccer mom" could be found. Police say within 2 hours of the ad being posted a lot of people started to show up.

Lt. Stephen Estes, West Hartford, CT PD: They already had over a half-a-dozen cars showing up with people described as anywhere from teens to an 80-year-old man who looked like Santa Claus."

Authorities say among those who responded to the ad was this man, 29-year-old Richard Zeh of Newington. But he made the mistake of going to the wrong address. An 18-year-old woman answered the door. She told police Zeh thought she was the woman referred to in the ad and that he wouldn't leave until she pointed out the right house. But when he went there...

Lt. Stephen Estes, West Hartford CT PD: Because those people had so many of these freaky guys showing up they had relatives at the house, manning the house, in anticipation of this. So when he goes to the correct address that guy says hit the road.

Police say Zeh then went back to the house where the 18-year-old woman was, let himself in and groped her.

Lt. Stephen Estes, West Hartford CT PD: It's a sexual assault 4 but he sexually assaulted this girl by grabbing her rear end.

In addition to sexual assault Zeh is also charged with burglary, trespassing and disorderly conduct. His wife was not interested in talking to reporters when they arrived at her house.

"We're trying to find out more about Rich and what's going on."
"I don't know."
"You don't know? This is unlike him?"
"Can you get off my property?"

Police have not released the addresses where all of this happened. In addition to arresting Zeh, though, there is another crime they are investigating. This is not the first time this particular address has been targeted with a bogus Craigslist ad. They are working to find out who posted the ads and intend to charge that person with fraud.
