Has anyone ever met a lady at the Clift Hotel? It's seems it's located smack in the middle of the TL on Geary. Is it safe? Anyone ever met a girl there?

Someone wants to meet me there but after seeing where it's located I'm a bit wary; and not being from SFO, I have no personal frame of reference.

Any input helps....TIA

i've had drinks at their redwood room a few times. very swanky, nice decor and ambience. at the time, they had paintings with eyes that followed you. it's an ideal place to bring a (civie) date.

It's on Geary but it's "not in the middle of the TL".
As for environment . . .
• The Redrood Room, located in the lobby of the Clift Hotel, is one of the "swankiest" bars in town.
• The adjacent restaurant, Asia de Cuba is a very nice (and overpriced) fusion restaurant.
• The hotel itself is an Ian Schrager hotel. (purchased from the Four Seasons)
• Do a search on "Redwood Room" on in the archives and you will see several posts.

As for your security, I don't think you're going to have an issue.
As for parking, figure out if you're stying overnight and need to park nearby.
If not, park at . . .
• Sutter/Stockton and cab it
• Union Sq garage and walk the two blocks.
If staying overnight, there are cheaper options a short cab ride away.

Thx for the 411 guys....not being from the city I guess I don't know where the TL even begins LoL.

Having seen the web site it looks like a nice place, whihch says she likes classy places~normal for a civi.

Thx too for the parking advise. I'll park somewhere else cause we're not doing an overnight~and even if we were $50 for valet doesn't cut it.

street parking could be hectic as it's close to downtown and there's a chance of parking in a sketchier part of that area so keep stockton street and union square garages in mind as arbiez_temp pointed out. have fun!

Like others have said, its a nice, fancy place. You'll meet girls there, but not hookers. Expensive.

   The Clift is my favorite place to meet a "lady". It's a very trendy place. The rooms, especially the better rooms, have a sexy feel about them. It helps get the lady in the mood. The Redwood Bar gets very crowded at night. If you are staying at the hotel have the Concierge make a reservation for you. I've recognized escorts in the bar as well as dancers from the MBOT.
Depending on your lady, and what time you are meeting her, you may have to meet her downstairs in the lobby and escort her upstairs. At night they keep an eye on the elevators and only let guest upstairs.

   It has not been an issue for me. As others have said, it is a very nice hotel in a decent part of town. I'd consider the Clift more Union Square than TL although a few blocks away things change quickly.
The usual rules apply; act like you know where you are going when you get there. Head straight to the room and don't wander around aimlessly when heading to the elevator and on the guest room floors and you should be ok.
The provider I've seen there is someone I've seen regularly, so there was not the awkwardness that can occur when you see a provider for the first time.

   The two rooms that I have been in to meet people at the Clift had had great mirror locations.
(It IS an upscale hotel)

   On Thursday nights there is more eye candy than you can handle. Also a number of well reviewed providers are there. Very classy place. I love the pictures with the wondering eyes. Be prepared, it is EXPENSIVE!!

   this is where the prime pussy is in sf, and the W. I've been there and you can literally smell the wet pussy in there. I am serious, the tight no underwear skirts, short shorts, etc. Hot women often outnumber the guys here. I think a lot of guys are intimidated to go here. If i were single, i'd hit this place regularly. Mixed race mostly white and asian but mixed. It is safe there and close by, don't walk alone more than one block down hill or up one block toward van ness if you have safety concerns.

It is a safe place. However, after 11PM, the neighborhood gets a bit risky. One night,just after midnight, I got panhandled agressively 18 times. Yes, 18. That was on a two block stretch on Geary from Union Sq to Larkin.

Thanks guys for all the input. As everyone pointed out, the Clift is a top level hotel and the Redwood Rm is really upscale. I met my lady there Wednesday eve and had an absolutely marvelous time

The girl's a civi, doctoral level college student, seeking a sugar daddy. At the end of the day what she was seeking didn't match my budget, as far as a regular arrangement was concerned (I'm already putting one of my own through college so can't take on another rite now) but the meet made for a single fun night out in the city.

Eye candy galore. Its at the better part of TL, near ACT. On Geary toward south, west is where it gets wary. Before becoming Gov, used to bump into Arnold & other celebrities there.

Lots of celebs used to stay there, partly because there was a special entrance (not on Geary) for them.

I remember when the street action was pretty busy at night, and the girls would pop into the Clift and use the restrooms on the ground level. The hotel put a stop to that pretty quickly.

FYI, I've had one IB request about the girl I met at the Clift's RB ad or digits, and so the be clear, the girl I met is a civilian and NOT a provider; and doesn't have an RB add; and so, I'm not giving her info out to anyone. If she was a provider or had an RB ad I would gladly point people to her, but alas....

I just met a SoCal lady at the Clift on Friday evening, it was just after 6PM so street parking was opening up (free) so I was able to park on the street close by. The streets were safe and not a problem (even about 9PM when I left), it is easy to walk in and turn left to the elevators without going by the front desk. Very discreet and easy, I wouldn't hesitate to see a lady there again.

   FYI, "SFO" is located partway down the Peninsula. It's an air terminal. The fair city about which you speak goes by many names, but not SFO. As for the Tenderloin, yes you may get panhandled to death -- but you won't get beaten to death. At it's worst you'll have to put up with urine stench and walk around the sleeping bodies and awake and wandering lost souls of the night. No, it's not a pretty scene. Welcome to San Francisco, the lovely city by the Bay. However, for all intents and purposes you'll be safe walking through the Tenderloin. The worst incident I've experienced (and I don't think this is typical) is the time I inadvertently bumped up against a certifiably deranged homeless guy who then proceeded to knock me to the ground. I was a bit dazed, but that's all. This clearly was a reflexive action on the part of a very dissociated person and not a deliberate attack. And it happened just off Union Square, not in the TL proper. I enjoy the TL, the bars, the mix of people and the outright sleaze. The filth I could do without. But I never feel threatened there, more like inconvenienced. Oh yeah, and one night I was propositioned by two young ladies in the sitting area outside the Clift bar. They were not classy providers, however, not typical Clift calibre at all.


Now I'm ready to stick it to 'em

There's one more thing about walking around down there . WATCH WERE YOU STEP . On more than one ocassion I have missed a pile of human shit on a sidewalk . How somebody can pinch a loaf in public like that escapes me , but if your homeless and need to go , you go .

I've walked the TL many days and nights and can report the same experiences. Once, a homeless guy on drugs kicked me in the ass, but he was doing that to everyone. It was actually funny!

Yes, you will be safe there even though it can look scary.
