"Hotel Room---No Credit Card"

Former east bay 5 star provider wants to return for week of fun
with some former clients. The problem? She is going through a
loan mod. Has maxed out credit cards. I was close to her when
she was working here. She has asked me to help her with getting
a room. I do not want to use my credit cards for obvious reasons.
So, is there a way to get a room without having to produce a credit
card. Note: Hotel/motel must be upper end.

Use a card to to register, but pay in cash. The card will not actually be debited unless you don't pay at the end of the stay.

A word of caution; the hotel may do a query against your card for a small amount just to confirm it's valid. I can appear in your account, especially if you use online banking, for a few days before it disappears.

Use a disposable "gift card" to make the reservation online. You will probably need to pay cash to settle the bill, but that keeps it off the private credit card...

Do NOT - for ANY reason - give a hotel your credit card number for a room occupied by hookers!

I do not have the time to elucidate on the huge number of vitally important reasons NOT to do this!

In short - this is NOT YOUR PROBLEM!!!!!!

About 10 years ago, I made the mistake of renting a room for the night at a hotel on Van Ness and then paying for an additional night for my company to be a "nice guy". I left town.

I got billed for over $1,200 additional. Called the hotel and was informed that she stayed an additional 4 days after the day I paid for and apparently had quite a party, which made "deep cleaning" necessary. I complained that I had only paid for the 1 additional night... how was she able to stay? He said something about some regulation or some BS that allows a bit of time before they evict. I stayed firm in my opposition and was able to negotiate splitting the bill, but still had to swallow the $600 some dollars of charges. I just wanted it to go away.

I saw her about 6 months later when I was in town and she acted like it was just a misunderstanding and actually wanted to party with me again!

Similar thing happened to me. I paid for the room. It got trashed. Then I really paid. Remember, no good deed goes unpunished.

You think you're close to her but who'll help you when you get a pole up your ass. There's a reason she's in the situation she's in and I'm not feeling sorry for anybody. She can max out your credit card just as fast.

Had somewhat the same situation before with a long time ATF....long story short.

She scrammed with her BF, hotel calls me to pay 100's of dollars for missing items in the hotel. Very expensive lesson.

I bolded your comment for emphasis..... doubtful you can pull it off without a credit card.

As stated above have her get her own pre-loaded credit card. You can give her $200 for loading the card and a $100 cash for the typical cash deposit the hotel will require when using a pre-loaded card. Deposit could be up to $300 in the better hotels in the SF area. If she doesn't charge up incidentals or mess the place up the deposit will be returned when she checks out.

Wow,

The sad fact is that most of you still try to help the hooker. Mean while she most certainly will share the room with her pimp. When the cops bust her. Guess who name the room is under. When the cops say who has you doing this? Just tell us and we will let you go. Otherwise it is a night in jail. Who do you think this angel is going to turn in. Her pimp or you? Even she is part of the 1% that does not have a pimp. Is is jail or you?

   Never EVER do it.
Buy her a pre-paid card.Have done that,and it works.
The ONLY exception has been when we BOTH have checked in and out at the same time.Be it an hour, night or weekend. In most cases it has been teh latter two.Night or weekend.
It's suicidal to do otherwise.!

DO NOT USE YOUR CARD OR BE ASSOCIATED WITH ROOM RENTAL.

If you do so and she is caught, you could go down as a PIMP!!!

I let a friend stay in a room with a restriction that the hotel would not not charge anything but the room. A friend of hers went to a third party company in the hotel and ran up a big bill and I was stuck with it since it was not the hotel.

In the not too distant past, I actually was able to use cash at some high end places. BUT they wanted a big cash deposit (I'm talking in the hundreds) and probably wouldn't do it if you looked at all shaky. I didn't. High end places know that well off guys sometimes need a room with no paper trail at all. They will ask for ID though. But again, if you look right, won't study it too hard. By the way, I found it easier to pull off at high end hotels than any kind of motel. We're talking San Francisco here. Out in the sticks, things are much easier. I guess they get fewer problems and less fraud.

I can think of just two hookers, out of dozens and dozens I know or have known, who I would trust with a hotel room. (If you are curious, that would be Karmann and Miranda Rites). I probably just pissed off about 30 girls I know who read redbook. To them I say "Sorry darlin', I posted too quickly and should have included you....')

I know of probably 20 times minimum when a guy leaving a hooker in a room has been a disaster. And at least two times where he actually got arrested.

My advice to anyone would be, unless the hooker is your sister and you have strong family ties, don't do it.

Never never ever use a cc.
Give her the cash and let her pay cash up front.
Some of the not-so-"upper" joints want to look at the drivers license for ID as well.
So in short - NO way Jose.

>loan mod. Has maxed out credit cards. I was close to her

She has just told you that she has maxed out her credit meaning
she is broke and a bad credit risk. She is only staying for
week meaning she could easily play you for a sucker and say goodbye.

Do not allow her to use your credit card!!!

Do not loan her money!!!

Do not put the room on your credit card unless you are checking out
and not leaving her the room. If you give her the room she could charge
phone calls, damage the room, etc. And you are on the hook.

I believe some of the cheaper motels will allow you to pay cash and don't require a credit card. But those are the places like Super 8 etc.
You could also try prepay credit cards which limit your liability.

When a hooker gives me a sob story I don't open my wallet
... I clutch it tighter.

Sounds like a good title for chapter one of a book titled "Everything you'll ever need to know about The Hobby" or "The Big Head Sez...."

Not to be the kid on the short bus here, but couldn't SHE use cash to get a prepaid card and book the hotel herself with it? Just tell her where to go, how to do it, etc. If she's really a friend and above board, she'll thank you. If she whines that you won't pony up for her, you know she's trying to rip you off.
