"7 Arrested In Vacaville Online Prostitution Sting"

Police have arrested six women and one man on suspicion of engaging or aiding in prostitution in Vacaville since July 29 during a sting operation that targeted women posting ads on the Internet offering sex for money.

An undercover police officer posed as a customer during the operation.
Charlene Agoo, 39, of Vacaville, was arrested July 29 for prostitution at a local motel.

On Aug. 3, Karla Noreiga, 18, of Fairfield was arrested for prostitution; Anthony Krout, 25, of Vacaville was arrested for aiding in an act of prostitution; and Ashley Bartlett, 23, of Fairfield was arrested for prostitution, police said.

During a separate undercover operation, Tiffani Baker, 24, of Sacramento; Tashonda Faison, 23, of Highlands; and Denise Martin, 26, of Sacramento were arrested for prostitution, police said. Baker also was charged with pimping.

Police said the owners of America's Best Value Inn will also receive a letter informing them they violated a community safety ordinance that requires them to ensure criminal activity does not occur on their property.

"young hotties" ?? Are you kidding? I didn't see one girl in those pics that I would hire for a meeting. Not one. But then again, I guess each of us has a different view of what is attractive.

Here's basically the same thing fwiw with video. Interesting how they mention "references" that some of the girls are asking for but didn't really elaborate....

Vacaville Prostitutes Arrested Despite Checking References
Ben Deci FOX40 News
August 12, 2010

VACAVILLE - A crackdown on prostitutes in Vacaville leads to seven arrests, and a surprising new twist in the oldest profession.

Vacaville police say, thanks to the internet, finding sexual services for money isn't hard. But setting the date is getting a little tougher. Police say many of the prostitutes have begun to ask for references.

"Some of these girls are asking if we have a reference. 'Can you give me a name and a number of somebody you've used before?' and these girls are actually making the call. Performing a little background check," said Vacaville Police Chief Richard Word.

Vacaville police say they are taking a "get tough stance" to build a reputation for their town as being a tough place to turn tricks.

As I have said before, the whole concept of “references” when engaging in illegal activities is a waste of time for both clients and providers, and it only provides a false sense of security. Law enforcement can provide “references” more-easily than potential new clients, and a lot of veteran clients simply refuse to see girls that require references (knowing what can happen when the prostitute or pimp’s little black book of client-tracking data falls into the hands of law enforcement after they get busted). I know that some folk here disagree, but I have been around long enough to know better.

How can LE provide a reference of an active and known RB woman with matching telephone number?

My guess is they didn't check the client's ref was indeed known and real in RB.

Very easy: all of the major telecommunications companies cooperate with law enforcement, so that reference “matching telephone number” can simply be routed to a female decoy officer. Moreover, law enforcement can bust “an active and known RB woman”, and then offer a lighter sentence for her cooperation in catching other providers, pimps, or clients (especially high-profile clients like politicians, athletes, actors, millionaire/billionaire executives, celebrities, etc.) If you watched the video link above, it’s pretty clear that law enforcement in even a small town like Vacaville has no problems working around reference checks by providers.

Nice to hear that Vacaville's finest are making the community safer. Now they can direct their resources to resolve the gang problems at Vacaville High and Will C. Wood High Schools.

Anyone need two left-footed shoes?

I just have to ask. How are the owners of a motel suppose to ensure criminal activity does not occur on their property?

Put up signs saying "No johns or prostitutes allowed"?

Ask every woman checking into the motel if she is a prostitute?

Ask every man entering the property to visit someone if they are a john?

Call the police everytime a woman wants to check in to have them run a background check first?

Perhaps have blinds in the room that do not close all the way so the motel manager can take a little peek to see what's going on?

Other then taking proper ID when booking a room or hiring a guard to make sure non guest are not parking in the parking lot or loitering, I don't know much else you can do.

I stayed in a hotel in Inglewood over New Year's 2009, and I saw a sign in the hotel lobby that read, "Solicit a prostitute in this hotel and your room is on us!". Below these words was a picture of a man clutching the bars of a jail cell.

Seriously, LE and others that don't want Prostitution are stupid. When are they ever gonna learn, that you are not going to stop it. There is supply and there is a demand. "The Oldest profession" has been going on for Centuries, it's not going to stop. In fact, why don't they just legalize it and tax it?? I get it, cops don't have time for more "serious" crimes. please.

Many of the more pragmatic law enforcement personnel favor legalizing it; one has explicitly told me this. I agree with you, where is the benefit in incarcerating an otherwise law-abiding citizen? It usually is a victimless crime, basically just sex for economic benefit.
It is called "the world's oldest profession" for a very good reason. It has been practiced not for centuries, but millenia! Yes, it should be legalized, taxed, and regulated.

One could also add that prostitution doesn’t necessarily cause drug use, gangs, or the numerous other problems that opponents trot out to justify LE stings - correlation doesn’t imply causation. The real problems behind all of these issues include high unemployment, a crappy education system, and the export of jobs overseas; but rather than solve the difficult problems, our politicians seem to prefer “easy” headlines and pandering to moral prudes, so LE goes with the flow. Forms of prostitution are already legal in Nevada and other parts of the world, and the taxes actually help fund law enforcement (something to think about during these lean budget times).

I agree. BUT....

Many groups - certain womens rights groups, family values groups, religious organizations, neighbor hood watches, etc - conflate drug use, human trafficing, safety issues, pimping, property values, and just about anything else they can think of with prostitution. For many of these groups the association is axiomatic - no proof to the contrary will ever be accepted.

That is the way it is. Hos and johns do not have a constituency. Can you imagine a politiician standing up in favor of prostituition?I can not imagine that. Not even in uber-liberal SF.

Prop K, the measure to decriminalize prostitution, did garner 41% of the votes. Not that bad... of course, getting 50% to pass it is an even bigger hump to surpass.

Of course prostitution should be legal. Clean, well regulated safe brothel for sex workers and customers in every town with population over 100 000. ( but no street prostitution too much problems) In the USA each state has the power to decide whether or not prostitution is legal in that state or part of that state. My guess it`s time for statewide referendum like prop19 "Marihuana Tax Act" for November 2010. - But please remember women will vote NO because with illegal prostitution, women can contol and manipulate men. This is also serious competition for women so they always connect word prostitution with words "crime, pimps, drugs, more crime, child prostitution, human trafficking, exploatation, STD" and more. Politicians from your county ans state love illegal prostitution because they can collect easy taxpayers money - millions $ every year after year to...fight prostitution. Please remember also prostitution was legal in California to 1914.

This is my first time joining this board and I just wanted to chime in on this thread because I find it interesting.

First of all, LE does not care about safety or prostitution. They are out to get money. It doesn't say how much money was recovered from these girls but LE is all about taking money from people who that technically can - and quite easily.
