"sw's in my hood"

In the last few weeks, my otherwise good neighborhood has seen a bit of an influx of street walkers a few blocks from my home.
While I have nothing against the girls, I believe it is one of those activities that bring with it other types of crime. I don't like the idea of pimps and drug dealers (with their propensity for violence) near my house.

Part of me wants to alert L.E., but I don't think I can be a rat. Or can I? I'm torn.
We have a lot of families around here.

What would you do?

Keep the peace and call the police . If you don't , your block will attract more crime like flies to shit. If you value your hood you'd do the right thing .
That activity belongs elsewhere.

Besides , you wouldn't want pimps to be recruiting your neighbor's daughters.

I mean alerted the LE. Wait a while, if they are still there after a few weeks, call/email/write to your district representative/city mayor. That will get fast (re)actions.

Happily ever after, still?

I had a neighbor who was really a piece of shit. He made all kinds of noise for the longest time. He then he had his total lowlife girlfriend, or whatever the fuck she was, over and they went nuts yelling at each other at the top of their lungs. Like you, I almost never call the cops, but this time I did. They showed up with three black and whites and went over and asked these fucknuts what their fucking problem was. Shortly after this, the piece of shit moved. I felt like kind of a dumbass for waiting as long as I did to rat the scumbag out. Whatever. He's gone now.

To be honest I would of call LE, if I saw them in my neighborhood, because there a few schools around and a lot of little kids, and they don't need to see hookers, (mainly the pimps), and yes there will be more crimes, around because of the violence the pimps will bring towards the girls, and the Johns.

Not just reporting but also suggest that city should allow certain weekly rate hotels to have ladies stroll in the hallway.

Since police chasing them out of your neighborhood is just pushing them to another neighborhood... where the trouble will start all over.

With regular police patrol inside the hotel to keep eyes on pimps and other violent activities.

They can still keep it illegal but focus on risk management.

Done in Germany. Made it safer for the ladies and the neighborhood happier.

Then by all means don't be one.

Sit around and watch everything turn to shit, but for god's sake don't be a rat. You can always move rather than try to keep your neighborhood nice, and safe.

   I promote hotel escorts.
It's cleaner (?), has class and away from public eyes.

I'd call the cops.

When I lived in a different state a few years ago, there were occasional SWs on a major street less than a block from my house.
It didn't bother me -- I saw that as urban character and local color. (There were no pimps and no drug dealers.)

To react to your statement, I'd really have to know a lot more specifics about your situation than you are revealing, and I'd need to get objective info to add some depth to your subjective characterizations.

I say don't be a rat.

There are several reasons for this, both ethical and practical.

1. Try turning it around a little bit. How do you see YOUR hookers? In a hotel? At their home? picked up from the street? In AMPS? In AAMPS? At your home? Any of these could pretty easily be ratted on by some do-gooder or concerned citizen/rat--or christian desk clerk, or whatever. How would YOU feel when the cops came in to disrupt your illegal activity? And someone had told on you (or, more likely, the hooker)?.

2. It is very unlikely to do any good. At most you might get them run off once or twice for a few hours, unless you are REAL good buddies with the Mayor or Police Chief. Really. I know a lady, a friend of mine, who had a bed and breakfast. She tried MANY times, through phone calls, letters, and every other way she could think of, to get the hookers out of her neighborhood. They are still there. She ended up selling the place (though I think that was an over-reaction).

3. Telling on people is WRONG....unless it's someone who kidnapped your daughter or something. I admit, this is subjective...but it's the way I came up, I've never rolled over (even when their were significant consequences) and I have no respect for anyone who does--or who calls the cops in any but the most extreme circumstances.

Pick any of the above.....

CG.

The first time your child finds a used condom or condom wrappers on the street you'll change youd mind about calling LE.

IMHO, this is not a case of knee jerk NIMBYism.

SW sexwork brings with it an entirely different dynamic and it's associated problems.

No, actually I wouldn't. But I don't believe in bringing up kids to think that sex is dirty. If old enough, I would explain that someone was being responsible (re pregnancy etc), though they shouldn't be littering. If too young for that, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, just tell them to leave them alone if they see them.

Families who live in the mission stroll area (much of which is middle class housing) deal with this all the time. They call them "San Francisco Blow Fish". Or something similar.

BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYWAY. See my point number 2 above.

I agree with all of the above concerns. You don't need le in
your yard either.

Have you tried talking with any of the girls? 1st time just hello
and what's up? 2nd time with a camera. If she still won't beat it
then you probably dont have much choice.

I wouldn't mind them in my 'hood. I'd set up a video camera in the front window and start filming the action! That might disuade them from hanging around my house and give me hours of 'ho entertainment.

Wow..a whole thread of reality bites.

Trust me...anyone telling you that your property values dont matter and not be a rat _doesnt live where you do_.

If it was my hood, id tolerate it for only so long..before determining that that mess isnt going to cost me money in my home investment. It'd have to go.
