"Sublingual (under the tongue) ED Medication"

LAST EDITED ON 06-Dec-09 AT 01:48 PM (PST)

I've seen generic "soft tabs" online for all three ED drugs. I've seen some people in this forum talking about putting ED medication under the their tongue. So what's the deal? Can you crush a pill, put it under your tongue, and it will work faster and possibly reduce the required dose?

Often I make my hobbying decisions on a spur of the moment urge. I don't have an hour to wait after I take the pill (although I find all three work the best about 2-3 hours after I take a pill). If I could dissolve a portion of a pill under my tongue and be ready in 15 mins, that would be great! So, are there any studies on this or hard facts?

Good question, and maybe Astroglide can help us with an answer. I've chewed V before and it seems to work much faster that way, kinda bitter taste.

Not a very well designed and performed study, but suggests that there is a faster onset and the required dose of V may be lower. I don't believe their findings that the duration of action is shorter as sublingual generally does not result in a shorter half-life.

The bang for the buck is to cut 100 mg tablets but getting a small dose may be difficult. If your normal oral dose is 50 mg then you might try 25 mg under the tongue (sublingual). These reason sublingual hypothetically is more "potent" is that it gets around "first pass metabolism" where drug put into the stomach is metabolized by intestinal tissue and some of what is absorbed is then carried to the liver for future metabolism, before getting carried in the blood to your penis.

I would also recommend, once you cut the tabled, to peel the blue coating off before placing under the tongue. Also once you peel the coating off the tablet will crumble easily and it may add more speed by moving your tongue to crumble the peeled tablet. Also before you insert the tablet swish a little water in your mouth and swallow as a dry mouth wil not facilitate drug absorption.

It doesn't taste very good, btw.

The reason that following a oral dose most guys V may work best ~2-3 hr a dose is that that is the usual time to reach maximum concentration.

If this works (It seemed to for me but hate the V side effects) why wouldn't some thing like a meltable suppository for the penis deliver faster and more locally.

I don't think the venous drainage from the urethra following a dose of V at that site would be of benefit, it can't go to the caverosal arterys (I don't think) where the dilation needs to occur.

Viagra (Sildenafil) by Pfizer will probably become one of the major pharmacological advances in the 19th Century. This Type 5 phosphordiesterase inhibitor is successfully treating erectile dysfunction in more than 75 percent of the cases in men. Now some urologists are prescribing a new delivery system for Viagra, a compounded version that is used sub-lingually, that is, under the tongue.

The Viagra in pill form has a bitter alkaloid taste, slow absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, which sometimes could produce an unpredictable absorption rate. Better absorption can occur on an empty stomach of at least two hours, which could mean more careful planning would be needed for sexual activity. It takes 30 minutes for the drug to begin absorbing and assuming the stomach is empty should reach his peak in one hour and maintain it's action maximally for up to four hours. Food contents, on the other hand, will slow the absorption and may require two plus hours before one reaches maximal levels in the blood and therefore for some men maximal abilities to become erect.
If a physician has a relationship with a patient and a prescription to compound a drug in a new format or delivery system is sent to a compounding pharmacist, a drug may be produced in this new format or delivery by a licensed compounding pharmacist. Patients can check with their health care providers about compounding pharmacists.
Urgent Care Pharmacy, which does compounding, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has developed a new delivery system for Viagra. It involves taking Sildenafil produced by Pfizer, which has the patent rights to Sildenafil and mixing this drug into a proprietary dissolvable mint tasting sublingual tablet that when placed under the tongue is absorbed by the lining of the mouth and the tongue. Usually, then within 10 to 15 minutes, the drug is absorbed giving sufficient blood levels to allow for sexual stimulation to produce an erection in most cases. The advantages include short term planning of sex and no concern for stomach contents. Some urologists say the effects are similar to the Viagra tablet. However, the amount of medication necessary is much less since the drug is almost completely absorbed through the mouth and Viagra can be incompletely absorbed through the stomach. The sub-lingual come is 20 and 40 microgram doses. in 25, 50 and 100 micrograms, with most men being prescribed 50 or 100.

The positive and negative effects of the sublingual delivery system appears to be the same. These include mild headaches, facial flushing, stomach upset and the bright vision with a blue-green halo, but in most cases is insignificant, of short duration and frequently disappears as the medication is taken multiple times. Safety with the nitroglycerin is similar to the Viagra oral tablets and the patient should not be taking any form of nitrates or nitroglycerin which could be life threatening if taken within 24 hours of the Sildenafil.
For all practical purposes there are no other contraindications and the drug can be prescribed for patients who have heart decease, hypertension and heart irregularities. On the other hand, patients who can't tolerate sexual activity without chest pain should not be having sex and therefore should not be taking any form of Sildenafil whether it's oral Viagra or the sublingual delivery system. No person should take Viagra without an examination from their health care professional first.

Patients can discuss the sublingual delivery system with their physicians, who can then contact a licensed, qualified compounding pharmacist.

[Viagra (Sildenafil) by Pfizer will probably become one of the major pharmacological advances in the 19th Century]

Huh? I don't think Viagra was available in the 1800's!

Suggestion....for fast-acting, try Liquid Extenze which I have found at a 711 check stand! I think it is, like, $5 a shot, but it does work and is pretty tasty. Also, I'll take one Stiff Night for the long haul (that will last about 5-7 days), then occasionally a shot of Extenze for the complementary quick action.

Naturally, your mileage may vary. For me, I don't think I have clinical ED, but supplementing with these OTCs makes my already stiff erection rock hard for as long and whenever I want it to (Stiff Nights blows away Viagra IMHO). Incredible stuff. I literally fucked my SO for an hour straight tonight (how her pussy could take that much pounding I don't know).....never lost my erection except when she got up to pee, but mah boy was back at attention as soon as we were back at it.

Yet, I was able to control my orgasm such that I waited til she was completely spent and had cum as many times as she wanted to....then it was like Mt. St. Helen's. When she screamed Oh My God, I think she truly thought I was one. LOL

So do I think that Viagra (or these herbal OTCs) is one of the major pharmaceutical advances in the 20TH century? Fuck yeah! I would have to say that the impact physiologically, sociologically, and psychologically is without equal.
