"hpv and throat cancer"

Are you guys out there aware that you can get hpv from women doing daty on them and it can cause you to have throat cancer? Check out hpv( human papoloma virus) on the internet. Either partner can get the virus and throat cancer from having oral sex and the women can also get cervical cancer from it. I was not aware of this until lately. Now I know why so many ladys are refusing to do bbbj. I guess I will take what I can get as long as it is good. I will just not complain any more if she uses a condom! But I am not doing daty on my provider any more. They say a man can have hpv and spread it to a woman , she then in turn can give it to the next male she gives a bbbj to.A man usually has no symptoms when he has contracted the diease untill he comes up with cancer or spreads it to another person! No thanks! I will just play safe. Cancer of any kind is not worth it.

I'm not sure about "cause" (as in the ONLY cause), but I do have some close personal experience (one family member and another acquaintance) with people who are currently going through throat cancer treatment.

Neither were smokers, yet 90% of people who had their types of throat cancer are smokers.

The next biggest factor was, as you stated, the hpv virus from performing oral sex on women. My family member (who is in his 70s) tested positive for it after they identified the cancer and the doctors did tell him it could have been a factor.

Now, the GOOD news is that if you have throat cancer and you also test positive for the hpv virus, the cancer/tumor generally responds better to treatment. Something about the combination of cancer WITH the hpv virus gives you better odds that people with cancer who DON'T have hpv. Sure enough, my family member went through treatment and it responded very well. His first post-treatment check-up was pretty clean. He has two more follow-ups.

Again, I'm not sure that hpv is the only cause, but it does remain a high factor in not only getting it, but how your treatment will respond.

Yes, there is a risk of getting cancer from HPV contracted from performing DATY. There is also a risk of being killed in a car. Thus, to avoid that risk, do not ride in cars. In fact, avoid any and all objects that move. That way you will be safe . . . unless a building or a meteor falls on you.

And if you are performing DATY while driving a car near a bus in city with big buildings, the risk goes way up! (but you would be my hero!)

Please vaccinate your teenagers. Insurance only will cover your girls right now but PLEASE vaccinate your boys. Men are at a much higher risk of HPV related head & neck cancers than women - based on the numbers from 98-03. And these are old #s

http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/hpv/statistics/headneck.htm

New numbers show a dramatic increase in the numbers of HPV head & neck cancers in the last decade. This is also something to keep in mind when making your safer sex choices.

"Oropharyngeal cancer develops in the part of the throat just behind the mouth. The American Cancer Society estimates that 28,500 people in the United States are diagnosed with cancer of the oral cavity and oropharynx each year. While the incidence of head and neck cancer has been declining during the past 30 years, the rate of HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer is rapidly rising. Today, nearly 70 percent of oropharynx cancer cases are HPV-positive."

http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2010-06/uotm-hts060710.php

" Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer among men and women, with about 640,000 new cases each year worldwide.

A recent study found the risk of developing oropharyngeal carcinoma was linked to a history of six or more lifetime sexual partners, four or more lifetime oral sex partners, and, for men, an earlier age at first sexual intercourse....

HPV-related cancer was also reported in 60-80 percent of recent biopsy samples in studies in the United States, compared with 40 percent in the previous decade, they wrote."

I strongly believe if you're so paranoid to the point that you can't enjoy hobbying as you're thinking about all the germs out there, then you should find a new hobby... I don't go scuba diving as I'm afraid of sharks, so I took up a different hobby, swimming wear I can see what's under my feet.

Seriously, why hobby is your freaked out all the time. I would rather live ten years shorten and have a lot of orgasms then live ten years longer freaking out over everything. Milk is bad for us but we all drink it.

Do you realize all the hormones injected into cows?

I say eat pussy, and have a happy life.

Once again, fear tactics trump educational knowledge!

First, do you KNOW how the HPV is spread to the throat? You ass-u-me it came from DATY. I suspect DATY is the primary vector, but neither of us has any data demonstrating it's the primary means of getting it.

Second, what is the throat HPV infection rate compared to the throat cancer rate? During the early days of the Swine flu outbreak, Charley Rose interviewed a public health official (can't remember if she was Mexican or CDC), and she kept emphasizing that we knew the numerator of seriously or dead swine flu cases, but we need the denominator (number of total cases) to make any conclusions about its threat.

Third, what is the total throat cancer rate, with or without HPV? You may be at higher risk regularly crossing streets in San Francisco (one of the highest pedestrian traffic death rates in the country) than contracting throat cancer...

You jumped to an unjustified conclusion with totally inadequate data simply because some "educator"w as more concerned with behavior modification than informing people so they can make their own informed decisions. Since you buy the "abstinence only" educational premise, you should go back to some combination of abstinence and monogamy. It's much less risk, and it matches your knowledge base.

Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur.
