"Qackery or really stretching marketing info?"

I visited a chiropractor's site site to see what's what and when I clicked on her faq about nutritional supplements, this is one of the reasons given for the need for supplements:

"(you would need to eat 53 peaches today to get the same amount of vitamin c that was present in one peach in the 1950s)."

There was no supporting data or link to some medical report.

Quackery or stretching marketing?

I'm guessing they are re-using copy from a supplement company without doing any due diligence.

Thoughts?

   A medium peach (75 g), has 30 Cal, 7 g of carbohydrate (6 g sugars and 1 g fiber), 1 g of protein, 140 mg of potassium, and 8% of the daily value (DV) for vitamin C.

Sounds like a good reason to seek an alternate fruit rather than to turn to supplements. An average orange is 45 mg (75% of MDR).

What basis was given for the assertion that Vit C in peaches has dropped ?

Thanks, Eddie/Elvis

Wow, quackery on a chiropractor's site, huh? What the fuck do you expect? Chiropractic is ALL quackery.
