"New Pattaya Hotel off of Soi3"

LAST EDITED ON 24-Jun-05 AT 01:43 AM (PST)

I found this new hotel place call The Holiday Lodge.

All of the rooms are the same, except for the view.
The ocean view is 900Baht (right wing) and the other room (left wing is 800Baht. What is most interesting is that they offer a weekly rate of $5000Baht + 700Baht for each additional day, if you pay in advance. That's less than $20/day.

I really doubt it is being advertised, since they're cash only, so if anybody's interested, I'll post with some info.

Plus:
1) The rooms are practically brand new and are very nice, about the size similar to Dynasty or slightly more spacious.
2) There is a safe in the room, which neither Dynasty nor Sandy Spring has.
3) There's a remote control a/c unit, which is just above the tv set facing the bed, so getting the cool-on is instant, but heck I leave it cool on all day, even when I'm out.
4) The bed is very comfortable and there's a comforter, which of course the TGF monopolizes.
5) The fridge is big (4-5 feet), not your standard tuck away box.
6) It has a decent and private pool on the second floor, but nothing spectacular.
7) Underground parking below the ground level. There's one security guard and a dog, which I think is a stray.
8) It's a half block away from all the soapies, near Big C, and all the beer bars next to the soapies.
9) It is quiet!!! Can't say the same for Soi 13 or Construction Corner.

Minus:
1) It's a no-frills mom-n-pop type hotel, practically none of the services you'd expect from a hotel. I think I've seen the same five people working the ground level floor. There's one guy wearing so many hats, as bell-boy, waiter, etc.
2) You're not going to see internet connections or business center, but heck they have a fax machine and email account.
3) They only take cash for payment, almost like they're not big enough yet to be set-up for credit card payments.
4) Don't bother waiting for food here. They have a kitchen and some people inside. All it took for me, was when I order Tiger beer and saw the guy took off on his motorcycle. Five minutes later, I made a decision of where not to eat or drink.

It works for me, because I don't need room service, when I'm eating and drinking out for the most part. There's a big fridge, so I pick up a few things from 7-eleven and I'm set. For breakfast, I drive to the Lek for the 95 Baht buffet.

Now here's the real reason for this pick...the hotel is next door to the A-One Royal Cruise hotel's fitness center. I checked out their overpriced, small 2700 Baht rooms (30% discounted), which will cost me an extra and discounted 200Baht/day for the fitness center. Once I found out that I could get the gym (separate entity) without paying for the overpriced hotel, I decided to just find another hotel nearby.

The fitness center is a/c, very modern equipment, not so much quantity but quality, there's flat screen TV's through the cardio equipment, and a large flat screen near the freight weights, all towels are furnished, keys to the lockers are assigned, and they call you by your first name, when you walk in. Chilled orange juice is served during the workouts. 5 star locker room facilities with private shower entrance and mirror. There is both a sauna and steamroom (very powerful-not the weak stuff in the US), similar to Fitness One at the Landmark Hotel in BKK. Of course, there's the overpriced Spa Treatments, just above (just check it out for the complementary and special hot tea). They offered me the same 200/Baht a day that the hotel offered me, plus they said I can use the swimming pool, which you guys need to check out. Ocean front view, music furnished, and there's a massage tent with two girls on stand by with a portable ac unit. For 200Baht a day, I'm basically getting the best service that this hotel has to offer (fitness center and pool).

Now, if I can just find another 24 hour internet place, which offers laptop connection. The place I go to on Beach Road, near the police station, charges 2Baht/minute and it is higher after midnight. I was able to lock into 1Baht/minute by purchasing 500 Bahts, but now they want to reneg because it is not suppose to include after midnight hours. I've check everywhere near Soi 3 and most places are so much smaller and do not offer laptop connections.

BB, Thanks for the report/info ... I'm planning my fall/winter trip and the good/cheap room with the close Gym/Pool is exactly what I'll be looking for.

Can't wait to get back again!

I've been talking to people, who find out about this place and have checked out of their current place once they see this place. I've even run into guys in the gym that go to the same hotel.

Other info:
Girl friendly hotel-just brought in two girls last night and crew just smiled and said welcome
Additional Towel service-no problem to room service in more towels, even late at night
Room service-after kitchen closes (early) there's a KFC menu and they charge 10Baht for phone deliveries, still reasonable.

Once I signed up for the gym package at the Royal Cruise Hotel, I am practically a guest there, using their pool and ordering food and drinks. It's a nice set-up.

Stayed at BJ Holliday Lodge on July 13.
It is as described above. New rooms, big fridge, powerfull A/C.
A nice small pool. However, When I was there the pool was full of dirt and sand.
The Gym across the street was very nice, but wanted 400 Baht for the day.
If you go to Pattaya, I would recomend this hotel if the pool is open.
