Should I go for the oil massage or the soapy massage? Or does it really matter?

Also, what should I either look for or look out for if I try searching for girls at bars.

Oil massage: price is for the massage. Usual tip for comprehensive service is 1500 baht.

Soapy massage: bath in large tub with girl, may or may not include body-body massage on air mattress.

Oil massage: shower with girl.

Otherwise services are similar. However, in the better oil-massage places there is a better chance of dkf and gfe service, which is rare in soapy-massage places.

Total price will likely be similar except at the higher-end soapy places, which can charge high prices, especially as many have a farang (white-guy) surcharge plus a surcharge for arriving in a tuktuk or taxi.

Well, there are two kinds of bars:
1) Freelancer venues. I haven't used these, others can comment.
2) Barfine bars (in bangkok primarily gogos, in pattaya you have two price levels - gogo and beer bar)
- these are pretty straightforward. No searching required (unless you're a picky bastard like me) - the girls will typically come to you.
- the two major center are Nana Plaza (Sukhumvit Soi 4) and Soi Cowboy (asoke, half block up from and parallel to Sukhumvit)

Figure on paying for a drink for yourself (60-150 baht) as the price of sitting down to see some tits. If the place is completely dead on entering, you can always leave immediately without sitting down without getting a drink.

Buy the girl a drink (100-150 baht) if you want them to sit with you a bit and chat. If you want to take them out of the bar, say so - or they may ask if you want to go to your room - and if you both agree, pay a bar fine (500 or 600 baht usually in Bangkok.)

Best to get the price negotiation out of the way if you're a newb. I'd expect to pay 1500 ST, 2500 LT as a newb in bangkok - some girls will want more, and up to you if you want to let the little head rule but there are always more girls. More than 2000 ST/3000 LT is going to be gouging even for a "star" IMO, but some claim they can get it. You might also be able to get lower, especially for ST during low season.

If you don't want to go to your hotel, there are ST rooms near both of the major gogo centers. Figure on 500 baht for 2 hours, I think - I've not used them in years.

If your hotel (or the ST room) is not in walking distance from the girl's bar, figure on a taxi there (40-100 baht) and on giving the girl a like amount in small money to catch a cab back "home" (usually to the bar, AFAICT.)

The girls can be quite agressive at times; don't just take the first one who goes for you unless you're really liking her.

Oh, yeah - don't fall in love. Don't take the same girl for more than 2 nights. Keep an eye on your things in the room. Wrap it up.

nb:
ST - "short time" - generaly 1 pop, around 2 hours give or take
LT - "long time" - overnight, generally 1 pop at night one in the morning, although some girls will go for more and some will try to weasel out of the morning one

For the serious flesh-seekers, Patpong has long since been usurped as the 'king of the scene' by its counterparts around Sukhumvit. However, its reputation means it's still a huge attraction, mainly for sightseers more interested in ogling at - rather than indulging in - the carnal delights on offer.

Go-Go shopping after dark

In fact, because of the Patpong Night Market the area's seedy edge has been softened considerably. At night the area teems with tourists and backpackers shopping for that illusive bargain.

Treat them nicely and you will be rewarded. If you can make a Thai lady laugh, they will "appreciate" you more. Likewise even small gifts.

I know, like bareback sex, this is an electric third rail in the internet forums, but IMHO don't go too "Cheap Charlie." Its all a bargain by US standards, don't sweat a couple hundred baht. And stay away from any women who are not adults, for a number of reasons!!

And if you go out late at night, don't get too drunk. If you must, stick with a relatively sober buddy.

And show respect to Buddha, and the King and Queen, no matter what are your personal feelings.

Soapies, Eden Club, and Tulip massage are universally recommended for safe sex in Bangkok. But take the skytrain, subway or walk. Tuk tuks and taxis will receieve a spiff after they bring you, and you will pay for it. They will then follow you you for more spiffs as long as you are in Bangkok if you fall along with the jewelry scam.

I love travel in Thailand and SE Asia, even without the paid sex. Thats personal choice.
