"Hotels near walking street (pattaya)"

I'm searching for hotels that are near the walking street and i came across several. Any inputs?

VC Hotel (seriously looking to stay here)
The Vault (2nd choice)
Baiyoke hotel
Camelot Hotel

anyone stayed at any one of these and can provide some feedback?

LL

Have you been before??? (I don't know if any of these would be places I'd consider as a 1st timer)

That said . . . there's always Secrets. It's in the heart of WS but it's noisy on WS.

Galaxy Suites

http://forum.myredbook.com/cgi-bin/dcforum2/dcboard.pl?az=show_thread&om=6432&forum=intl&archive=

There is another place that I was considering for my upcoming trip. I can't think of the name but I'll post as soon as I find the bookmarked page. (UPDATE: http://thegreenviewpattaya.com/home/)

As for the Vault, do some research and check out the reviews. I might have this place confused with The Penthouse, but the feedback I read says it is a great choice if you plan on doing large scale party, but not for longer stays.

Baiyoke is now the Erawon and Pratumnak is not that easy to access Walking St. (you typically catch baht bus from Thappasit and come around)

Yes, I've been to pattaya several times. I've stayed at Eastiny Residence and Sunshine Hotel.

The penthouse is the one you are referring to regarding a party place. they offer a stripper pole and hot tubs.

From it's map, it looked like it's just walking down to walking street.

I've stayed at VC a few times and think it is good value and an excellent location (upper floors have good views). Rooms are large, AC is quiet and strong, beds are comfortable. Restroom furnishings a bit dated. Many joke with me about it because most guests are Arabs but other than the TV channels being mostly Arabic (only news was Al Jazerra and the German one DW) I think it is fine. No free internet is another irritant.

I like P72 best, RIGHT in the middle of the action, but get the priciest (newest) rooms (still under 1000B) a they are MUCH nicer and quieter. Free internet and regular TV channels.

I don't know your budget, but the Nova Platinum is around 1,500 bht and is far superior to any of the previously mentioned if you want to be so close to Walking.
Clean, new hotel with strong wifi, great pool and friendly staff.
VC is slightly better than a short time room.
Arabs all over the place.

Secrets is also worthwhile if you don't care about pool.

have you actually seen the rooms at VC Sky? I'm sure your standards are much higher than mine but I found the rooms just fine for my needs. I'm also curious to know where to get a ST room of that quality/size/view?

The P72 does have nicer rooms (the remodeled ones) and it is, I suppose, a "short time" hotel although they have plenty of overnight guests.

As to Arabs all over the place, a friend suggested that nowhere in Pattaya is safer from terror attack than the VC (they wont bomb their Muslim brothers!). As the Arabs dont drink, they are actually better neighbors than most other ethnicities in Pattaya (the Russians and British, in particular, drink way too much while in Pattaya with unpleasant consequences).

I'm sure the Nova Platinum is much nicer but it should be for double the price. While I used to rent a private pool villa at View Talay 2(in Jomtien) on occasion (used to be just over $100), I actually came to prefer the $20-$25 places right by Walking Street. When I visit Pattaya in July to see Shadow and Jack, I will stay at P72.

Hey Guys... I think I've decided. Previously, I'd stayed at Eastiny Residence and loved the location. Especially, it's walking distance to Central Plaza. I've decided to try back Eastiny or even Sandy Spring Hotel.

Jack... I hope we can meet up while I'm in town. Would love to get you guys all a round of beer!

I think that is a much better choice. Only pay for a couple days as there may be some bargains around.
Jack

Sandy Spring is always recommended and it is across the street from AA and has 1 or 2 good pools.I have not stayed there.
Life is a short time!

I just got back from pattaya, as a first timer there, I found "secrets hotel" nice. It was clean and really didnt have all that much noise. 895 baht a night. Location was great..staff awesome and friendly. I would stay there anytime I go back. My friend stayed one night at the grand hotel across the street..his room was gross

Agree with fish. Secrets on Soi 14? has nice, clean and well designed rooms and great staff. Bring ear plugs though and don't stay in the rooms directly above the gogo bar. Recommend for walking street.

Please listen to Skylar and travelingman. P72 is o.k. Secrets is better. AA hotel for 1000 baht across from Dynasty on soi 13 is o.k. and has a buffet included for bkfst. It is easy access to Beach Rd. or 2nd. road and you can get anywhere in ten minutes. Please avoid V.C. I was in it a few days ago. The Vault is supposed to be nice but is also inconvenient for travel. If you want quick and easy soi 13 is perfect. Check it on the map. I lived there for 1.5 years.
Jack
p.s. AA has a good pool on an upper floor.
Life is a short time!

p.p.s. There are 2 aa hotels on soi 13. I am referring to the one in the middle of the soi.

Jack is one of several friends who live in Pattaya that give me grief about staying at VC a few times. He certainly knows the quality and value of rooms in Pattaya much better than I ever will.

PS yes I deleted your rant Skylar.

Why did you delete my "rant"?
And whom is editing your posts?

By the way, the comment that Muslim don't bomb their brethren is laughable.
They have been killing each other for 10s of 1000s of years.
Including Mindanao in your beloved Philippines.
There have been untold 1000s killed by suicide and car bombs in Iraq.

There were 546 identified as of the Muslim faith killed on 911.
Not including their terrorist brothers.

This being said, terrorism is not the reason NOT to stay at the VC.

It was meant to be a tongue in cheek comment and yes I know Muslim terrorists kill Muslim and infidel alike.

I have no interest whether people stay at the VC. The original poster said that was where he was leaning towards staying and asked if anybody has experience staying there. I do, so I replied with my honest opinion (listing both the pros and cons).
