"Manila, Cebu TR"

I thought that I would be on the straight and narrow this trip. It turns out, I work with a bunch of beer-swilling closet pervs. I went to Hong Kong (that is the city), then the Philippines, then to HK again then to TJ.

HK is a jammed city, there are more people living in one of the big apartment complexes – 40 stories, 6 buildings – than in my whole town. And there is a vibrant nightlife, mostly centered around the Lan Kwai Fong district. It is lined with restaurants and bars, with music and people spilling out of the bars and into the street. Think bourbon street with out the idiots. Saw lots of dancing a drinking, even did a little of it myself.

The p4p area is Wan Chai. There are a bunch of strip clubs. There are also Adelitas-style clubs like Traffic. There are girls from around the world there, most speak English. Black girls from Africa were very popular there. You can drink and dance with the girls and then take them to your hotel. The going rate was $2000 HKD – about $300 for a couple of hours. But my sample size was from what 2 girls quoted me, no negotiation, so take that with a grain of salt. I did not partake in HK.

On to Manila. There are several of the fish-bowl/revue type clubs. You go in, pick a girl and then sit with her, chat, buy drinks. She can only have one drink/hr, and you pay an hourly fee while she is sitting with you. I did this one night. I went with DD, bin, and rob. (DD was my running mate for most of this trip.) Unfortunately, we all picked stick in the mud girls, cute but not much fun.

Let me back track, there are 3 classes of girls – strippers, dancers, and models in the club. Strippers strip (duh), but they don't dance like they do in the US, they sort of vogue. Dancers also vogue, but only strip down to a g-string and bra. Models just vogue, and do not take anything off. We all got models or dancers. We should have picked strippers.

We had a private room, and after wasting a couple of hours, bin went to arrange a private strip show for us. For the show our girls left the room so it was only 4 guys and the stripper. She was a pistol. She gave a show, and nude-lapped everyone in the room. When she got to DD (who was fairly polluted, we all were) she flopped down next to him, grabbed his head and jammed it into her pussy. We were all telling him to chow down. DD is nothing if not a trouper, so he spent a couple of minutes with his face buried in her snatch. She jumps up and I ask her if “DD did it right”. She fired back with “Not yet.”. Poor DD for the rest of the trip he D 'not yet' D. But DD was not done for the night.

We left, and went to drop Rob off at his apartment. Rob lives a 9 iron from all sorts of clubs. DD wanted to stop, Rob said okay but for “Just one beer”. Three hours later..... We hit a club called Nipple and as soon as we walked in about 20 girls surrounded us and more or less wrestled each other for the right to sit with us. We drank beers. The girls drank ladies drinks – shots of rum and Bailey's – all while remaining in close contact with your dick. I had to stop one girl from trying to yank lil' ken off. DD was over the line, and did a strip show for the girls. Full Monty show. The girls went nuts over that.

You can take the girls out of the bar for $3500 pesos. I think you can take the models and strippers out of the first club for $5000 pesos (it is about 45 pesos to the dollar, in case you were wondering). The girls stay all night for that, and you do not tip them. Or so I was told. I did not partake.

On to Cebu. Manila is a real city, Cebu is like TJ. There are a ton of call centers in TJ, and since they serve the US market, Cebu runs 24/7. It is the same set up as Manila. We went to Arena one night. Apparently Rob is a good friend of the manager at Arena (Julius). Arena has pretensions. The girls only strip to a g-string and bra. A very small g-string. They also have a floor show with female impersonators and heshes (chicks with dicks). We had a private room here also, as we were entertaining potential customers – about 8 guys and one woman in all. Our security guard in the club was a midget named Jordan. You read right – security was almost 4 feet tall. Since we had a woman, no girls. But DD was getting a buzz on. DD, the woman and I split to a sports pub and drank and played darts. Then we hit Pump.

Pump is a disco, that spills out into the parking lot in front of it. Inside the music is so loud that the bass percussion blows your hair around. So we sat outside and only went in to dance. Pump does not get really going until 3 AM or so. That is when all the club girls that did not get bar-fined out start to arrive. As did Julius. We had re-joined the clients from earlier, and another client, along with Julius and few of his girls. So we all started drinking beers, or vodka from the bottle that someone bought for the table. Actually I think we had 3 or 4 bottles. And I have no idea how many beers. Beers are 50 pesos ($1) so we could afford to drink. And the place is jammed with spinners. I mean packed.

Julius says 'Lets go get you a girl' to DD. I want to see this, Julius and DD walk into the club, DD picks out a girl, Julius whips out a flashlight out of a bag he wears on his hip and flashes it at the girl. She comes over and joins us, and we head outside to the table. Fuck me, I got to get me one of those flashlights. I was talking to two of the Arena girls (twin sisters!) at the end of the table, so I did not need the flashlight.

The twins were fun, and I harbored the hope of fulfilling the fantasy of doing twins. But the fiance of one of the sisters showed up, and the drama cranked up several notches. So when one of the sisters stalked off in a huff, I invited a spinner in white dress from the table next to mine to join me. She drank several vodka shots, and then we went back to hotel room at about 8 AM. She was as good looking naked as she was clothed. See pic. Her name was Beblen. Total GFE and a couple of rounds spread out over 3 hours. I gave her cab fare to go home ($500 pesos). Then I passed out.

Poor DD. His girl took him to an after-after hours club, and they drank until noon. He almost passed out in the club, so he went to his room a crashed. He did not get laid.

I found out later I got the 'doggy bag special'. That is what they call it when you take an off duty club girl home from Pump. Although Beblen said she was retired and she has a Japanese boyfriend that takes care of her. I guess PLM is truly international. And I got off cheap, normally you have to buy the girl breakfast/lunch. What is interesting is that these girls are essentially free (Breakfast? Cab fare? that is nothing). Why would anyone pay a bar fine?

Cebu is spinner city. I saw a ton of cuties there. And you do not seem to get the same jaded, broken down ho syndrome you run into in TJ so often.

Excellent report and cute girl. I am perplexed by your statement that "Manila is a real city while Cebu is like TJ". Cebu may be a smaller city than Manila but IMHO it is WAY more liveable, more scenic, less polluted, less traffic, and really more foreigner friendly. I fail to see the comparison to TJ at all.

I did not see all of Manila. It is a big city, but there were extensive areas that were developed to US standards. The malls, the greenway?, etc. Very nice. The strip bar area was clean and well lit also.

Cebu is smaller, and bit dirtier. And just a little ragged around the edges in general. The mall was very nice, and the IT park was well developed. But right next to these areas there were ugly areas.

I do not disagree that Cebu would be more livable. But it is also a step down in general.

"I did not see all of Manila."

That's pretty much why you felt that way. Sounds like you went from the airport, directly to your hotel area by taxi, and never got to see where the people really live.
Manila will make TJ appear like a nice city, if you get around a bit.

culo: that is the danger of making snap judgments. You obviously only saw Makati when you were in the Manila metro area. It is much worse than Cebu in many parts. Not sure I agree Manila is worse than TJ, it certainly is much safer than TJ, but it sure is uglier than Cebu city as a whole.

Based on my own experience, TJ has most of Manila beat easily.

because you got mugged in Manila and not in TJ, but TJ is WAY more dangerous for gringo sex tourists. This is statically true as well as anecdotally. You can feel the danger in TJ's barrio Norte whereas I've wandered the area where you got mugged many times and never once felt fearful or witnessed a street robbery or assault. I have seen several muggings in TJ and had once incident myself (albeit not a robbery attempt but an overzealous Charger fan attacked me the night before the Superbowl in SD for carrying a NINERS jacket). And there are no drug gangs or turf wars in manila like in TJ where many innocents get caught in the crossfire.

Yes there are lots of beggars and street urchins around, but violent armed robbers are not all that common at all. In fact, you are the first monger who posted about such an incident on any of the boards I read and I have been going to Manila several times a year since 1994. You showed poor judgment and took excessive risks and you suffered the consequences. Of course that does not mean you deserved to be mugged but hopefully you learned something and will be more cautious next time regardless of where you are.

I have wandered the zona, even its fringes, countless times. Many years ago it was very risky - but then again there were few street lights, and even fewer cops.

Then there were the decent years when they put in lights and redid the alley. There was not much risk of rateros mugging you, but the cops hit you up for propinas.

Now the cops have backed off, but the rateros are out again. A good friend was recently mugged at 7AM in the morning in the zona. He is a zona vet, and never had a problem. Then again, he is not very big, and was very hung over.

While the zona is fairly safe during the main hours (noon to 3 AM or so), it gets riskier from 4 am to daylight. Note that all the clubs except CC shut down at 3 AM currently.

The best option is to go with a wingman. I have not heard of a story where two guys are attacked.

Hey, I appreciate all you do on here, but I wasn't taking any risks...I was walking down the street outside of LA Cafe, the same thing I've done hundreds of times in many other countries. I also wan't drunk...so you must have just made that up to try and strengthen you case.

Many others feel the same. But, of course, it's just an opinon based on my experience, just as yours is. Many others have the same opinion as me, so it's not isolated.

My opinion isn't just based on my mugging. I also didn't find the girls very attractive, but maybe it's because Angeles specializes in genrally pot bellied girls. I'm not sure. The country just has a coarse, fourth world feel to it. Manila is thick with crime. Families have tons of kids because of their catholicisim. I just dont't see any future for the country at all and it just have this disgusting feel to it for me. There's a reason almost any Filipino there wants to leave and about 25% are successful. You don't see that in Thailand or many other countries.

Just my experience and opinion. It's a free world, right? Well, sort of. ;

I honestly can not remember. It was not a lot of fun, except for the stripper. It was on some side street, all by itself. Kind of a plain front that said something about karaoke. Walked in and there was a fish-bowl on your left. But if you did not see anything you liked, the mamasan brought around girls in small groups for you to select, or you could select the girls from the stage by number. They all had little number tags.

Main room had an elevated stage, surrounded by picnic style tables. Around the outside of the room were the private rooms.

Jez, I can remember all this, but not the name.

A girl from a wan chai bar will go home with you for a couple of hours for $150US. $300 is way too much.

There are hundreds of clubs that fit the description in the MMA, but it sounds like you were probably in Pasay. But really, it could have been anywhere.

Some districts have more stringent laws concerning clubs, but the smaller kareoke clubs are a dime a dozen almost anywhere you go. Some of these smaller 'underground' places have girls that rival the bigger places but its pretty much hit or miss at these places. Some are pot bellied specials, some are not. Some smoke cigs out of their pussies onstage dancing to a Metallica routine. I clap for that as some don't. Meh.

These places don't charge for you to sit with the girl, but you just buy her drinks for about P150 each and she'll try and entertain you, and realize that the club gives her incentive to drink as much as she can. Probably not much alcohol in whatever she's drinking, but who really cares.

You can negotiate whatever you want with the girl, she'll usually tell you her day off, her cell phone # to avoid a barfine depending on the vibe she's getting from you. But $150 is too much. $300 is a joke. Might as well just get a private room if you know the manager at the place, P4000 all-in for a couple of hours if thats how you want to go.

The girls at the bar were pretty decent looks-wise. Pretty drab personality wise.

I had better luck at Pump anyway.

Sounds like the Asian Entertainment Network. I visited a couple years back, on Roxas Blvd. Main stage in middle, fishbowl to left, VIP rooms upstairs. Pretty pricey though. My bro and I dropped about $300 including drinks, ladydrinks, and the vip room. Very pretty gals, though (an no potbellies!)
