"Finally my virgin Trip to PI ... I need to knockout details"
 
   After 4 trips to Thailand, I figured I need to take one to PI ... booked July 31 for 10 days (Hawaiian Airlines).

After reading for a while here's what I'm thinking (suggestions requested):

AC 3-4 days, Puerto Galera 3 days, Manila 2-3 days.

Some questions:

1-I arrive in Manila 5:15 pm (probably not a great time)what's the best way to get to AC? (I figure to stay either Euroasia hotel or Pacific Breeze)

2-Puerto Galera - Best way to get there? Where to stay?

3-Manila - Due to big city and hassles that have been noted here, I'm a bit hesitant (after reading about L.A. Cafe and freelancers, I need to give it a try) One recommendation I read was Cherry Blossom hotel in Ermita... any good suggestions here are appreciated (where to stay, where to go, something interesting to do).

Anyone going to be in AC the 1st week on august? Some experienced company would be appreciated.

   Lousy time to arrive at MNL. I would go to the departure area and pick up a taxi just off-loading some passengers and see what you can negotiate. If I remember rightly it will cost about $50 U.S. for the trip but it being rush hour you might have to pay more. But why not stay the first few nights in Manila and avoid the rush hour hassle? Surfer and other board members may have good advice on public transport to AC.

Pacific Breeze is good and not too expensive. Make it a point to go to some of the small bars on Fields and Perimiter Road--the big glitzy clubs have some great looking girls but are to my taste really boring. In the small clubs just about anything is possible.....Oh, and have a great time....

Transport: I would either use the PB or Margarita car services just because of the convenience factor. You're also welcome to catch a taxi but, I just prefer the hotel or margarita car services because I know there won't be any hassles along the way.

Puerta Galera: Sorry, never been there. Most likely Surfer could provide more detailed info on the place.

Manila: I actually brought a girl from AC with me to Manila and sent her on her way after a couple of days. LA Cafe' is a good starting point as well as Burgos St. I stayed at the Royal Bellagio which was all right but had several clubs and free lancers to pick from each night at the little bar in front of the hotel. Just careful of the ladyboys and beggars because both can be very aggressive.

Enjoy your trip and try not to over-plan everything. Once you get to AC plans tend to change. On my cherry trip I intended on staying for 5 days but, that turned into 15 days and only 4 days in Manila. I find the people in AC friendlier and seems to be more of a laid back and relaxed atmosphere. The traffic in Manila is horrible. You'll be lucky if you get to AC 3.5 hours when arriving in the middle of rush hour.

to meet her parents? tour guide and companion?

DC is right in that you should not over plan...that would be a big mistake.

Just book a hotel in AC for a couple of days (in advance if you are picky, otherwise rock up but expect to wear out some shoe leather finding a place). There are plenty of travel agents there to on-book further travel and accommodation if you want it...and most likely they know much better than any other agents you will get in your home town.

The point is, that some people hate AC and can't wait to get out. Many, however, think it is heaven on earth and ten days is not enough. It is a classic YMMV situation, and if you overplan, you will just end up spending a lot of f***ing time undoing your plans.

angelesrookie thanks for the kind words.
I took my girl from AC for all those reasons you mentioned except for meeting her family. We really clicked so she ended up staying with me on her days off. I thought it would be a nice to spend a few days away from AC. Not much to do in AC besides going to SM or Marquee Mall. There is Fontana Water Park & Casino inside Clark Airbase but, it seems that the girls prefer to go to Baguio,Cebu,Manila,Boracay even Subic since most are relegated to staying in AC.

I'm glad some of my info was able to help you enjoy your trip to AC. I like to help out and share what I know with other members because Biker, Surfer, Roger and even bigdog helped answer many of my questions and got me motivated to take my cherry trip to AC last year. I've gone there now 5 times in less than 12 months My next trip isn't until November and I can't wait to go back.

To me the only dumb questions are the ones you fail to ask. It might seem unimportant to some but, in my opinion the more knowledge you have the more comfortable you will become once you are in AC.For future reference just check past threads about AC to gain even more valuable information that might come in handy for any future trips. If you can't find the answer then I'm sure Biker,Roger, Surfer and other veterans of AC would be more than happy to give you advice.

   Cherry Blossoms is a bit of a shithole but it is walking distance from LA Cafe. Its next to a mall but not in the best neighborhood. I just dont see the point of spending any time in Manila at all. LA Cafe is okay but the bars are way expensive. You can get much better in AC. If you want to monger, stay in AC. IF you want other touristy stuff go to Puerto Galera, Bohol, etc. Manila is just a dirty crowded polluted city.

   1) I wouldn't worry too much about arriving at 5:15pm. I have hit traffic at all hours of the day when getting to AC. Last trip we arrived on a Sunday and it seemed to be a quicker ride. You will get to AC with plenty of time to enjoy your first night. If I am staying at the Pacific Breeze I just use their car service. If I am staying somewhere else I use the Margarita Station service. Both very reliable and have never let me down.

2) Getting to PG is sort of a long haul from AC (6 hours). I have always used a car or van arranged by the hotel, while others chose to go by bus. It is about a 4 hour drive to the Batangas pier. In Batangas you need to take a banka boat or small ferry to PG. You just buy your boat ticket when you arrive at the pier. I stay at Sabang Beach when in PG. The most current ferry schedule I have shows boats leaving Batangas for Sabang at 11:15, 12:15, 2:20, and 4:00pm.

In PG I have stayed at the Mermaid Resort, Tropicana Castle Resort, and Club Mabuhay (the one at sabang, they have 2 resorts). All are nice and very close to the bars,,,,,like a 1-2 minute walk.

3) In Manila I usually stay at either the City Gardens or Lotus Garden.

   hi pj, having only been to AC in May for 10 days cherry trip, too short in my opinion. Next upcoming trip is planned for a minimum of 20 days. try ac first then decide whats right for you, wishing you lots of fun.

   Thanks everyone ... great advice as usually!

I think I'll head to AC and see what happens! If any RB Brethren are in AC 1st week of August, I'd like to meet up for a beer!
