Hi guys, I'm new here and saw your post so figured I'd chime in since I just came back. Ground zero for chicks is still the Blue Marlin in the Hotel Del Rey. Beers are $3. Some nights its like sitting at a fashion show with beauties from many countries showing off their assets. This time there were a lot of big boobed chicks so if thats your thing you will dig the availability. They all ask for $100 but they will go in the 60-70 range. At the end of the night they will be more open to negotiation like 2 friends at $45 each. If you like one, get her cell # and have her come by in the day for $40. And this is for an hour.GFE is rare but possible. The best MP is New Fantasy in Barrio Amon at $45 for an hour or $70 for 2 for the hour. Best to get everything out in the open BEFORE cutting the deal as some of the girls are known for upselling. Down the street from NF is Hotel Little Havana for about the same price as NF. This place has a bar to relax and mingle without any pressure. There are also tons of Knockshops around starting at $10 for a pop but the conditions are not the best but there are gems to be found. You can spot them by the neon "open" sign in the window and they also double as Pensions. Many freelancers at the Sportman's Lodge , also in Barrio Amon, they have a good happy hour also. I don't know how good your Spanish is but it helps to have some. If traveling solo at night, play it safe and invest in a cab ride at $1-$2 a trip. Its rainy season so bring an umbrella. People rag on C.R. but for only being 5 -6 hours away it still blows away the states. Hope this helps.

Thanks hellonewman!! This is VERY help full! Sounds like I should offer 70-80 and go from there? one person told me that to offer w/e it is in colones? which I believe is their currency. I speak pretty fluent spanish and so does my friend who is going with me.

Does Del Ray have short time rooms? We already booked a room at a nice hotel. Not sure if we should invest on one night at del ray between the two of us and just go from there?

Any good strip clubs with full service? Or are Blue Marlin and Little Havana like that already? Feel free to inbox me! I leave in four days!!

NYC I will be there around the same time you will be there! We leave SJ on the 25th for another part of CR.

Yes you will do well in the 70-80 range. 60 is also very doable, there are also some total knockouts that won't budge from cien but it will be easy to see why. What I like about CR is its so easy to find doubles and triples walkiing around together. Even twins and mom/daughter teams. NEVER pay up front with freelancers or you can expect a problem.I let them quote in US $ than after the deed I pay them in colones. They all seemed to think 500 colones = $1 U.S. so when you pay them in colones you will actually save 5%. One more thing, if you go to New Fantasy bring U.S. dollars to pay because the price they will quote you in colones will be more. Del Rey doe not have short time rooms but there is at least one down the street from Del Rey for about $10. The girls know where they are.As far as F/S strip clubs, with rooms on sight, Pantera Rosa is probably the best but can be hit and miss.Since you have some Spanish under your belt you will have game. Enjoy!

Sorry to ramble but I thought this was very important. ALWAYS have a COPY of your passport AND visa stamp AND flight itinerary with you at ALL times. Leave your originals in your safe. With this you will not have any problems with the cops unless of course your are doing something illegal. Prostitution is totally legal and as a result, the cops do check up on establishments from time to time, but they are just doing their job and not shaking down gringos. Also, Visa is much more accepted than MasterCard in Costa Rica so if you have one, bring it.

Thanks for all the information. It's very helpful. My Spanish is certainly not fluent by I get by.

jmoe21 I think I will be in San Jose by the 24th. My plans are still very tentative. If I do make it I will try to contact you by inbox.

Have fun,

NYC

Good advice. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on another trip, and have read on a different site that the police are stepping up raids against some of the more popular MP's -- prostitution itself might be legal, but they have plenty of regulations they can use as weapons, if they so desire. CR's new prez has made no secret of her dislike for sex-tourism, so this could be the start of a new trend. I may end up just stopping over for a few days on my way to Medellin, if that's the case.

For all of the United UAL flyers, there seems to be a flight from SFO to SLA (wherever that is) which then connects to San Jose CR with airport code (SLO). The return flight looks like a nasty and loing layover, using a foreign carrier w code share for UAL. The fare was very high for the days that I looked, a r/t fare of around $1300 but that was August which is probably high season for the summer.

I would imagine the weather and the airfares (maybe United) might be better to visit CR after September or October, and the post on which hotels and which bars and clubs ... was most helpful. Prices seem reasonable, and I'm sure the talent varies like in any city, but also a few gems to be found in any p4p setting. Since I can speak some Spanish, that will certainly help - sort of like in TJ and PV and Matzalan.

Any 411 about flying there on certain airlines, esp like United, please share, (United code share is very helpful also).

Please write a TR and share a few photos, after you make this trip to CR - have fun !

I assume you like United for mileage plus. Several airlines, including Taca, give United Points. Go to Kayak or one of the other travel sites to get comparitive pricing.
