"Brief BKK Trip Report"

I just typed up a rather lengthy trip report on BKK 5 star hotels and accidently deleted it before I was able to post it. Dont have time now to re-do the whole thing but will try later. Hopefully this brief summary will suffice for now.

My post concluded that if you prefer freelancers like I do (vs. the club scene), the Sheraton wins over the Marriott by a slight margin (as least for choices along Sukhumvit, where I like to stay due to the plethora and proximity of freelancers). I do not have comments to contribute on the Westin, having never stayed there, nor the 4 Seasons, which is not on Sukhumvit.

I am heading back to the LOS in about a week and will be at the Marriott again becasue the Sheraton is no longer an option for me. I'd be interested in my fellow BKK hobbyists opinion about my (again, slight) preference of the Sheraton over the Marriott, or if there are opinions about other hotels along Sukhumvit.

Johnny

Both hotels are very nice 5 star locations right on Sukhumvit Road, so you really can;t go wrong with either one.

My personal preference is the JW Marriott on Soi 2, i like the location due to the very close location to Nana Plaza, a short stroll from the FL at the Beer Garden on Soi 7, Bangkok Beat on Soi 7-1, and the ample supply of talent that stands along the Sukhumvit Road, next to bus stops, in front of Soi 3 and Soi 5. The MBK Mall is a bit closer, and the Skytrain is overhead amd in front of you, station is one block away. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Great supermarket and mini indoor mall, with a covered walkway from the JW to the mall, bank, exchange house, starbuck snd McDonalds, and 30 or more indoor stores for inexpensive shopping, and the ease of walking back to your hotel room in 5 minutes with your loot.

That Suk bus stop is a keen location for FL talent, they can stand and pretend to be waiting for the bus, heading up the Soi towards Soi 18-21-30-35 etc. That said, it can be shady and cooler in the afternoon, and it is easy to walk up and approach them for some ST or LT action, the working girls will make eye contact and smile at you. My wingman and I have pulled many nice FL ladies from that bus stop area, a few that were great duets (two ladies who were good friends and ended up being a great pair for ST and LT service) .
The pair came to our hotel room for 800 baht each, and went at it like two cats in heat, all for my viewing pleasure, and then I jumped in at my discretion. You can walk into the Marriott lobby w ladies in tow to your room, basically unchallenged, even though some ladies are obvious " a guest" and others might pass as your TGF.

JW Marriott does not question your choice of guest that you bring back to your room, no ID chedck, no ID collection, so you are on your own if you fall asleep and your lady leaves your room.

JW Marriott is a flagship location, amenities are great for me as a Marriott Platinum members, so the Concierge lounge can offer members free Wifi in the lounge area, free full breakfast, free cocktails and snacks at 5:30-7;30pm nightly, free gym, etc. Wifi has a charge if you use it in your room, and i found it pricey.

JW Marriott rooms are starting to get a bit tired, and they need a refresh of their facitity, but it is sparkling clean, and the staff is well trained and very professional. I have no issue getting a smoke-free room.

Prices at JW Marriott have slowly crept up over the years, and the best room rate is now around $175 USD or more, often almost $200 per night. My JW stays about 3 or 4 years ago were in the $115-125 USD range. If you are on a business exp account, no sweat. If you pay on your dime, it can add up quickly, esp when you add in the tax and VAT and service charges, and such. The JW is often nearly full, due to the many business and government guest who stay there w contract rates.

Same might be said about the Sheraton, which is a great property, and many guys like that location for their own personal reasons.
Sheraton has many nice restaurants nearly, ample FL ladies nearby that are available for ST and LT, and you are a lot closer to Soi Cowboy. I feel Cowboy is a little nicer of a venue over Nana Plaza, plenty of bar girls, some great ladies and plenty of variety for all.

I believe that the great Therme Coffee shop is very close to Sheraton, across the street and one block away, and some real stunners hang out in there after 10 pm each night, plus on the sidewalk outside of Therme. Most girls are ST at Therme, but the talent pool is very nice, though pricey, nightly. Most girls ask 2,000 ST, some ask more it is "up to you".

You need to try both hotels and then compare for yourself, and you can't go wrong. Good luck, you will enjoy the JW Marriott if you choose, and I really like it when I have my civilian GF in town for only a few days, she never complains about the JW, for location, amentities, VIP lounge, and the great service, very comfortable beds, and a 5* experience. A civilian GF or work colleague will not feel uncomfortable at the JW even though a few punters will have obvious younger Thai ladies in tow. It is a very upscale and professional atmosphere.

The thread was about a high quality hotel room on Sukhimvit, and your link seems to be a shill / plug- for the company called The Vault, what does that have to do with asking about the amentities of a great hotel room in the monger space? I looked at your link it was about management services for your friend - and does not seem to have anything to do with a good hotel. I scrolled the entire website, and did not see anything about rooms or hotel, all we saw was a plug for the CIA type of company. Did we miss something here?

Are we mistaken - or is this hijacking this thread ? JUst curious...

SHADOW actually listed a different website in another thread for the Vault in Pattaya. Yes, it's an acutal website for an actual hotel ... so I guess the link provided above was just an honest mistake.

Maybe it's a good hotel in Pattaya. It is off topic though since this thread deals with Bangkok.

I wish I had a business expense account so I could stay at either of the two aforementioned places. They both sound great.

Hello, I understand your fondness for The Vault, but it is highly over priced, especially being in Pattaya. That is where you visited from what I remember of your previous posts. There are many better hotels than than for much cheaper. Oh and I highly doubt by anyone mentioning Shadow they will be treated well because of it, what the hell did you tell the owner your name was Shadow or something and you were such a good customer that he will give all your buddies discount rates or something?

No disagreement, that was a nice summary; the one thing I will add is that the Westin is another great choice by Soi Cowboy - also a Starwood location (same global brand family as the Sheraton) and in some ways easier to the action since you don't have to cross over Sukhumvit (although a short block further west.) Nicer rooms, IMO.

I much prefer Cowboy to Nana - nicer bars, slightly lower drink prices, and much easier to get around between bars. Just wish I knew of someplace comparable to Majestic Suites down that way.

Hawaii is spot on in so many ways -thanks for the lenghty post. We are very much in line expect for a few (very picky) differences on my part. See my comments in CAPS below:

Both hotels are very nice 5 star locations right on Sukhumvit Road, so you really can;t go wrong with either one. ABSOLUTELY CORRECT

My personal preference is the JW Marriott on Soi 2, i like the location due to the very close location to Nana Plaza HERE IS WHERE WE DIFFER A BIT - OVERALL I LIKE THE MARRIOTT LOCATION BUT I THINK THE NANA LEAVES SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED. PLENTY OF HOTTIES THERE SO IT IS LIKE SHOOTING FISH IN A BARREL, BUT ALSO SOME BOTTOM FEEDERS. Great supermarket and mini indoor mall, with a covered walkway from the JW to the mall, bank, exchange house, starbuck snd McDonalds, and 30 or more indoor stores for inexpensive shopping, and the ease of walking back to your hotel room in 5 minutes with your loot. YUP - I REALLY LIKE THIS AMENATY. THE ONE DRAWBACK - NO FOOT MASSAGE PLACE IN THE GROCERY STORE ACROSS FROM THE MARRIOTT. THERE IS ONE HOWEVER AT THE GROCERY STORE ACCROSS FROM THE SHERATON. SO AFTER A LONG DAY'S WORK - I GET A 90 MINUTE FOOT MASSAGE FOR $30, PICK UP SOME BEERS AND SNACKS FOR THE ROOM, GET ROOM SERVICE, THEN GO ON THE HUNT ALONG SUKHUMVIT. MAJOR HOTTIES THERE - 5 MINTUES LATER IT IS HEAVY LUSTING IN MY ROOM FOR AS LONG AS I WANT. NOT A BAD TUESDAY EVENING BY MY STANDARDS !

That Suk bus stop is a keen location for FL talent. The working girls will make eye contact and smile at you. RIGHT - ONE LOOK AND YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A LIVE ONE.

You can walk into the Marriott lobby w ladies in tow to your room, basically unchallenged, even though some ladies are obvious " a guest" and others might pass as your TGF. BUT, THERE IS REALLY NO WALK OF SHAME, WHICH IS GREAT

JW Marriott does not question your choice of guest that you bring back to your room, no ID chedck, no ID collection, BUT THEY DO NOW HAVE SECURITY AND AN X-RAY MACHINE, SO THE WALK IS A BIT MORE OBVIOUS so you are on your own if you fall asleep and your lady leaves your room.

ALL CORRECT, ESPECIALLY THE RIDICULOUS WIFI CHARGE

JW Marriott rooms are starting to get a bit tired, and they need a refresh of their facitity, but it is sparkling clean, and the staff is well trained and very professional. I have no issue getting a smoke-free room. YUP

Prices at JW Marriott have slowly crept up over the years, if you are on a business exp account, no sweat. I AM, SO WHO CARES The JW is often nearly full, due to the many business and government guest who stay there w contract rates. NEVER HAD THAT EXPERIENCE. USUALLY I GET AN UPDRADE TO A SUITE SO I CAN FUCK MY GIRL IN THE KITCHEN, LIVING ROOM, ON THE DINING ROOM TABLE, IN THE TUB, BENT OVER THE OTTOMAN. OH, SOMETIMES ON THE BED TOO !

Same might be said about the Sheraton, which is a great property, and many guys like that location for their own personal reasons.
Sheraton has many nice restaurants nearly, ample FL ladies nearby that are available for ST and LT, and you are a lot closer to Soi Cowboy. I feel Cowboy is a little nicer of a venue over Nana Plaza AGREED - I'LL TAKE THE COWBOY OVER THE NANA, plenty of bar girls, some great ladies and plenty of variety for all.

You need to try both hotels and then compare for yourself YES and you can't go wrong YES AGAIN. Good luck LUCK HAS VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH ALL OF THIS !, you will enjoy the JW Marriott if you choose - for location, amentities, VIP lounge, and the great service, very comfortable beds, and a 5* experience. It is a very upscale and professional atmosphere.

   Johnnyseven -

great feedback and agree on everything. I have a ton of Marriott points, so the JW is the place for me, and for my civilian sweetie when she comes to town for a few days, she is a pretty Viet gal- who likes the good life, and is well worth it to me.

I have had the many upgraded rooms in the JW also, and when you get a larger room, there are many places to do the Deed with your lady, and you can fuck her whereever you want, and not do it in the same place twice !! You should be bold, and see if you can do her in the Concierge VIP Lounge, after breakfast and before dinner when it is quiet - now that would be worth a new TR !!

Curious about no feedback on Thermae Coffee Shop, over near the Sheraton and the Westin - Soi 17 or so, i know it is not the regular place for many of the guys on this board, has anyone gone to Thermae lately? Still many hotties - after 10pm? Have prices come down for the Thermae girls, with the BKK recession and lower tourism?

Have fun in BKK- good to hear from the Thailand crowd on this board -

Like H2P and MH has said, you've got a few choices between Nana and Asoke on Sukhumvit. Obviously if you prefer Soi Nana (Soi 4), you've got the JW Marriott along with Majestic Grande (not to be confused with Majestic Suites -- same ownership but entirely different type of hotel).

In short JWM is directly on Suk between Nana and Soi2.
The Majestic Grande is a short ways off Sukhumvit between the same two streets.
http://www.majesticgrande.com/map_html.asp

The next 4 star is the Landmark which is maybe 100 yards from the corner of Nana and Sukhumvit (btwn Soi Nana and Soi6) going toward Asoke. http://www.landmarkbangkok.com/location.html

Further down near Soi 19 and Asoke interchange (Soi Cowboy) are the Sheraton and the Westin which are directly across the street from each other. If you prefer Sheraton because of points and you can't stay at the Sheraton, you can always choose the Westin (FWIW, when on the company dime, I prefer the Westin).

And on the corner of Sukhumvit and Asoke is the Grand Millennium.
http://www.millenniumhotels.com/th/grandmillenniumsukhumvitbangkok/index.html

Other options within walking distance to Suk but further off the beaten path are
Soi 11: Fraser Suites or LeFenix (next to QBar)
http://bangkok-sukhumvit.frasershospitality.com/
http://www.lefenix-sukhumvit.com/

Soi 15: Dream http://www.dreambkk.com/

Soi 24: Marriott Service Apartments or The Davis http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bkksp-sukhumvit-park-bangkok-marriott-executive-apartments/
http://www.davisbangkok.net/

or going the other way you can do Wireless Rd which has a LeMeridian (also a Starwood-Sheraton property)

Now there are other upscale boutique hotels in the area, but I assume you're not interested in those.
