"thailand - end of Nov. till 3rd. week of Dec. 2010"

LAST EDITED ON 15-Aug-10 AT 03:35 PM (PST)

Hello fellow Rber's

I'm planning my trip to Bangkok from the end of November till the 3nd. week of December. I've got three weeks of fun and wondering about this year's high season. My last 2007 visit was during the high season & it was completely horrible. I spent a whole day from late morning till 10pm finding a place. With all the current political problems do you guys think it might be slower? I'm hoping to stay at the Nana Hotel but the odds might be against me. I made reservations during the last visit and the hotels stated that I didn't have a room. Is it better to book directly thru the hotels rather than internet booking sites?

How are things going in Bangkok? Does it seem like the tourist attraction has slowed down? I could do next year March but it's been wayyy to long. I've gotten back in the saddle of bartending in Sf and the money is starting to flow again. I know my way around but don't ever wanna run into this situation again. Do you guys know of other decent/clean/affordable places to stay? I'd rather not spend over 1600 baht a day on a place to sleep.

I'm going solo, so I would like to hook up w/some fellow Rber's. It's not as fun going to the red light areas w/out some buddies. I'm also going to visit Chiang Mai & the Philippines. I haven't decided on Angeles or Cebu. I'll take lots of pictures and post updates on any changes since my last 2007 visit.

Thank you, BUCKWLD

I have stayed at Nana Hotel five times and have always made reservations directly with the hotel; never had a problem. The hotel has never accepted a reservation deposit from me, but for the time of year that you are going, I would contact them early and offer a deposit or maybe even full payment. I was once bumped from a hotel in Pattaya; I was only staying three nights and someone who wanted the room for a month and paid up front got my room.
I would not wait until I was in Bangkok to find a room!

I always book thru the hotels directly. Never had any problems. I've never stayed at Nana hotel, but stayed at Majestic Suites (not too far from Nana), Majestic Grande (bit more expensive), and Dynasty Inn.

I may be there towards the end of November. I have not decided yet.

I'm there around the end of November as well, maybe a little earlier than you guys (arrive for Loi Krathong and am staying for a week)

I'd suggest posting exact dates on rbtravsea, but that seems to have died.

Always best to go directly to the hotels, and always best to have at least your first few days arranged in advance.
