Still, I don't mind visiting CM as the people are nice, with great weather and food. But for mongering, I wouldn't expect much.

I hope Surfer can provide us with better results. How 'bout it Surfer? How you been to CM lately?

Just the facts!

She apparently does not work for the bar where I met her, although I paid 400 baht "bar fine" for her the first night. She called me to second evening and we met at my hotel to go out to dinner, thus no bar fine and no lady drinks. My guess is that she just drops into the bar when she is short of cash, but does not work regularly, otherwise she would have insisted on meeting me in the bar and paying the bar fine.

There are nice restaurants on the east side of the Ping River, north or Nawarat bridge, walkable but better by tuktuk (50 baht farang price from near Thapae Gate). We ate at the Gallery, similar to Riverside (live music in season) and several others. Pretty good food, sit outside by the river, slightly high prices but not too high: we spent a high 1000 baht or $30 for a big steamed fish (photo) and prawns and meang kham appetizer and plenty of beer. Price would have been half without the fish and prawns.

We returned to hotel after dinner and had another enjoyable and passionate night and morning. Very lucky catch for me, I have had passionate girls in Bangkok (think Tulip and Mango) but never a truly passionate girl in Chiang Mai, other than civilian friends I have brought with me from Bangkok.

As I wrote before, most of the girls in the bars on Loi Kroh Road near the eastern moat are not very interested in being friendly, let alone sexy, and a starfish is a likely result (like my two recent experiences in Sayuri...described in another thread...at least I won't be going back to Sayuri anytime soon.)

So my recommendation is the same as others: go to Chiang Mai to enjoy the good weather, the many temples, meals along the Ping River, a trip to the zoo to see the pandas, maybe something touristy like a visit to an elephant camp for an elephant ride....best done with a Thai girl rather than alone.

Although I have found a few acceptable girls in these beer bars, my experience in the past few years, especially in the low season, when I would have expected the girls to be hungry, has generally been poor, with the girls showing little enthusiasm to engage beyond pushing for a lady drink. Some have gone home with me and the service has been ok, some have provided only mediocre service, generally the girls have not been as easy and as good as those in Bangkok or of course Pattaya.

There were times when some of the soapy massage parlors, like Chiang Mai Hills and Pandora, had terrific girls, in recent years I have found the quality lower and the service much worse, especially Sayuri, two bad experiences two years in a row. I also used to go to the "housewives" brothels and even lady houses, the lady houses are long gone as far as I can tell, and the "housewives" brothels (small brothels for Thai men, must speak Thai to go there) have gone downhill as well.

Thus in recent years, when I have had a TGF, I have preferred to bring her along from Bangkok or wherever she is living. My present TGF is a civilian living in the south of Thailand. I preferred to take her to Malaysia and Indonesia with me, where finding girls is not easy, but this depends greatly on where in these countries (easy in Jakarta for example), rather than around Thailand, where I can always find girls.

I would like to find a civilian in Chiang Mai, no success to date.

I am glad that the two RB brothers above have had good success with girls in beer bars in Chiang Mai. Maybe they have more game than I, maybe they have been lucky, in any case good news as I go often to Chiang Mai, I got lucky this last visit to find a very sexy and passionate girl, we speak a mixture of Thai and English, and I'll go back to see her as soon as I can....and maybe I'll find more keepers on future visits if present girl is not available.

She treated you like a king right?
Its always polite and humane to ask the TG if they want something to eat. You don't need to dine her in a lavish restaurant and break your wallet. But at the very least offer to buy her food from the street vendors. Ask her if she is hungry.

When I was in LOS, and with a TG, I always treated them to what I was having. If I was hungry I bought food for myself and the girl, thirsty a drink for both of us. If I wanted to snack on something like noodles or ice cream I offered it to them as well. They looked so happy and grateful. And when they refused they did it politely..
A few times they surprised me and bought me treats and fruits and offered me a dish from their home!

I guess word got around that I was not only a "hansum" man but also very kind. When I walked into some bars Id see them whispering and smiling at me and then a group of TG wanted me to barfine them. yes a group! I didn't have that kind of money. but the girls said I was good to their friend. I got a few other surprises too.

anyways always be nice and kind. You don't have to be a dumb ATM machine throwing loads of cash around, but you can still be nice on a small budget and personality wise.

Thanks for the nice TR Roger. It sounds like you are having/had a good time. Even though you might pick a starfish once in a while part of the enjoyment is the "hunt" and the learning experience. The good one are just that much better then.

CM was a decent place for me to visit a few years ago, but as was said, very slow in the p4p scene and there are very few choices and you cannot go there with much expectations. I also found a few ladies at the dozen beer bars near the night market, all in a row and the chices were decent, as were the girls, No super stars, no lookers, all were home town girls and did not have much in experience or using make up and such. I did find a decent 7 at one bar, hotel tried to charge me a joiner fee, she was a good provider, but not memorable. If you find a winner there, good luck.

I might add that a starfish lays there with her legs spread and doesn't move at all. Thus zero interest and no passion.

Meanwhile I am back in Bangkok, arrived last night from Indonesia. My local favorite spent the night with me, a very nice girl from Mango (oil massage place on Sukhumvit soi 24, small sub-soi to left). Once the girl knows you she will often come to your room at 9 pm if you book takeout, cost is 1000 THB for two hours, plus the usual 1500 THB tip. If the girl likes you she will often spend the night at no additional cost, although she will expect an extra tip, thus providing entertainment before breakfast and usually staying for breakfast.

My girl stayed for breakfast. After breakfast we returned to the room and then we continued for another round, this happens only in the best of cases. My girl is a keeper if you like a small dark-skinned flat-chested and very passionate girl....just my type.

and i might add... a key part of the starfish definition is not only the lack of movement, but that she "looks pretty."

even thai women are familiar with the term "plaa dao" now (literally "fish star"), as being "looks pretty but doesn't move." my wife giggles every time she hears it, which is mostly from my RB friends when i meet up with them. and i'll also add, since she first heard the term, it's been important to her to not be one!
